Power systems are moving toward a low-carbon or carbon-neutral future where high penetration of renewables is *** conventional fossil-fueled synchronous generators in the transmission network being replaced by renewable energy generation which is highly distributed across the entire grid,new challenges are emerging to the control and stability of large-scale power *** analysis and control methods are needed for power systems to cope with the ongoing *** the CSEE JPES forum,six leading experts were invited to deliver keynote speeches,and the participating researchers and professionals had extensive exchanges and discussions on the control and stability of power ***,potential changes and challenges of power systems with high penetration of renewable energy generation were introduced and explained,and advanced control methods were proposed and analyzed for the transient stability enhancement of power grids.

To solve the power imbalance problem caused by the difference between the equivalent impedance of the inverter and the line impedance, and the power quality problem caused by the disturbance of load mutation, unbalanced load and nonlinear load, this paper proposes a closed-loop feedback dynamic compensation strategy based on the equivalent virtual impedance of the residual generator. Firstly, based on the parallel topology of inverters, a quasi-steady-state model is established on the dq axis. Based on the model, the power imbalance caused by the difference of output impedance and line impedance of different inverters and the power quality problems caused by load switching, unbalanced load, nonlinear load and other disturbances in parallel inverters are ***, a residual generator is established based on the inverter model. A virtual impedance equivalent controller Qvir(S) based on the residual generator is designed by the Luenberger observer principle. The disturbance information is fed back in real time through the feedback structure, and then the virtual impedance is adjusted to realize the power sharing of the inverter parallel system. Then, based on Euler parameterization and coprime factorization theory, a dynamic compensation architecture based on residual generator is designed. The transfer function of the dynamic compensation controller Qcom (S) is obtained by model matching to realize the steady-state operation of parallel inverters and the improvement of system power quality. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed architecture is verified on the experimental platform. © 2023 IEEE.

In the present paper, a model of a hybrid neural-fuzzy system adapted to identify drinks with certain quality indicators, more specifically - tea blends with different ingredients, has been synthesized. To illustrate the work of the classifier, different types of tea were used, for which spectral characteristics of diffuse reflectance in the VIS/NIR range of the electromagnetic spectrum were taken. PCA is used to reduce the feature space of experimental databases. The first three components obtained as a result of the PCA-analysis are selected as the input vectors of the neural fuzzy classifier. The pattern recognition results are as follows: 98.3% in training and 81.3% in testing. The obtained relatively high percentage of accuracy for the work of the hybrid artificial neural network is proof of the successful implementation of the set classification task. © 2024 IEEE.

In the current paper, a strategy for handling a stochastic optimization problem based on metaheuristic techniques is presented. This optimization problem is defined based on the impact of environmental factors such as temperature and irradiance on photovoltaic panels. The objective aims to solve the defined problem by finding an SVM model of a photovoltaic panel. To enhance the efficiency of power generation, this model will be utilized for the purpose of predicting the voltage linked to the Maximum Power Point of the panel. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel application of impedance spectroscopy as a means of inspection for stator winding insulation. It proposes, for the first time, a means for health monitoring and failure identification during thermal degradation effects in the insulation systems of stator coils from a concentrated stator winding. By periodical ex-situ inspection of these coils, the thermal ageing data of the insulation are profiled up to the point of failure. The study maps this evolution of thermal degradation patterns via novel interpretation of the impedance frequency responses, using well known techniques such as the Bode and Nyquist plots. This grants further insight into the characteristics shown in the ageing profiles over time and frequency. These new profiles enable the identification of critical points that can act as pre-emptive indicators of coil health and failure inception. This is a key finding as it renders the capability to provide an adequate lifing tool for electrical machine windings and coil assemblies within industrial settings. The insulation system examined in this study is taken from the coils of a concentrated stator winding in a 2MW permanent magnet generator used in an aerospace application. © 2024 IEEE.

The highly demanding operation of electrical machines in aerospace can lead to the degradation of electrical insulation systems within the machine windings over time. This paper presents a novel method for high frequency modelling of a coil from the concentrated stator winding of an 2MW aerospace generator, for the purpose of characterising the insulation system by the amplitude and phase responses by the Bode plots in the same framework as electrical impedance spectroscopy. This new approach of high frequency model utilises a finite element model, deployed in tandem with an electrical equivalent circuit representation. Matlab is used to quantify the results taken from finite element modelling and implemented into LTSpice, so that the model considers mutual coupling of inductances and high-frequency effects, such as proximity and skin effects. This novel methodology allows extraction of the impedance profile with respect to the material changes within the simulated insulation system. © 2024 IEEE.

Based on the relatively widespread use of photovoltaic (PV) arrays as an energy production system, this article presents the main components of an energy production and storage system, where generation is done by a PV array and energy storage is done by a battery, based on a benchmark. The general objective is to maintain VDC voltage from DC circuit at a constant value, and the main performance indicators are response time, VDC voltage error ripple, and fractal dimension (DF) of the VDC voltage signal. The types of controllers used are classical Proportional Integral (PI), PI tuned using the Sine Cosine Algorithm (SCA), and a classical PI controller combined with a special machine learning like Reinforcement Learning namely Twin Delayed Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (RL-TD3) type agent. The validation of the performance of the presented control systems are achieved in the Matlab/Simulink environment. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents a hybrid DC-DC converter composed of switch-mode DC-DC converters and switched-capacitor circuits. The system has continuous voltage regulation, low voltage stress across switches, low inductor current, low input and output current ripple values, and high frequency of the output capacitor voltage ripples. Operation of the converter, its efficiency and loss distribution in transistors are demonstrated in the paper. © 2024 IEEE.

Making hybrid systems more efficient and eco-friendlier by using Renewable energy resources is an inspiring idea. Two tourism different locations including Sarab Gyan in Iran and Zurich city in Switzerland are analysed. Photovoltaic panels (PV s), wind turbines (WT), battery energy storage system (BESS), and diesel generators (DGs) were analysed using HOMER pro software. Various factors like different fossil fuel costs and limitation on fuel supply, inflation rates, discount rates, carbon dioxide penalties, and capacity shortages were considered. The results indicate that as fuel prices rise and emissions penalties increase, renewable resources become more economical. By comparing the lowest net present costs (NPCs) we see an increase of 180% in the case of Switzerland compared to the case of Iran, where the price of fuel has also left its mark. Switzerland also benefits from lower inflation and discount rates, resulting in a 19.3% reduction in NPC and a 41% decrease in the cost of energy (COE) compared to Iran. This research underscores the economic viability of renewable energy in hybrid systems, especially in regions with high fossil fuel costs and stringent emission regulations. © 2023 IEEE.

The primary objective of this research work is to investigate model-free path planning for reconfigurable robots using value and policy iterations. The focus is on developing and evaluating an autonomous algorithm for robot path planning. Initially, the A-Star algorithm was modified to incorporate model-based learning. Subsequently, model-free reinforced learning was incorporated through value iteration and policy iteration.
