Blood is vital for transporting oxygen, nutrients, and hormones to all body parts as it circulates through arteries and veins. It removes carbon dioxide, regulates body temperature, and maintains the body's immune system. Individuals constantly need blood and its derivatives to save their lives and improve their health through medical treatments and surgical operations. Liver diseases are one of the diseases that affects the health of individuals and requires blood to continue living. These diseases cause significant damage to people's health, and early diagnosis plays a crucial role in saving lives. In this paper, machine learning algorithms (support vector machine and random forest) are involved in detecting liver diseases and determining whether donors are suitable to donate blood from blood values. This paper is applied research that found that the performance measures of the random forest algorithm achieved excellent performance in identifying suitable people to donate blood. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2023.

The AC-DC Energy Nodes (ADENs) concept offers a transformative approach to modernizing power grids, particularly in the context of supergrids. By centralizing power flows from diverse renewable energy sources, such as offshore wind farms, ADENs enable efficient long-distance power transmission through HVDC technology. This design enhances the balance of supply and demand across regions and countries, significantly improving grid stability and resilience. However, the implementation of ADENs presents substantial technical, regulatory, and cybersecurity challenges. This study delves into these challenges while also addressing the geopolitical complexities of transnational connections, underscoring the critical importance of policy alignment for successful deployment.

This paper considers the motion control of a multirotor slung load system (SLS) which is capable of tracking time-varying payload reference position trajectories. The method applies a quasi-static feedback (QSF) linearization to obtain linear tracking error dynamics for the outer-loop. QSF has the practical benefit of simple static dependence on state and reference input. Further, LTI error dynamics simplify gain tuning and the stability proof. Accurate software-in-the-loop (SITL) simulation and flight tests validate tracking performance. Open-source software and hardware are used in the experiments, and source code is available.

The demand for continual machine learning in the context of limited computational resources and data availability is critical in the evolving landscape of the connected digital world. Current network applications predominantly rely on deep learning models that require labor/computation-intensive training processes. These models often struggle to effectively adapt to new data while preserving performance on previously acquired knowledge. In this paper, we introduce a lightweight framework for continual knowledge adaptation and learning designed to address these challenges. To prevent disruption of existing services, we propose an attention-based adapter that integrates seamlessly with the existing vision model to encode new incoming data. The weights of the original model are kept fixed during the adaptation process, ensuring the preservation of previously learned knowledge. Furthermore, to enhance learning efficiency and accelerate convergence with new data, we implement a knowledge fusion mechanism that facilitates interaction between existing knowledge and information from new data. Our framework is modular, enabling flexible deployment across distributed devices. The adapter and knowledge fusion module are implemented at each stage with minimal trainable parameters, optimizing resource usage. Extensive experiments and ablation studies validate the effectiveness of the proposed framework.

To find the drowning person in time in swimming pool to reduce the drowning person mortality rate. We used the Mask R-CNN algorithm, and optimizing the convolution backbone of the traditional Mask R-CNN algorithm by adding features of cascaded with pyramid model to design a swimmer drowning detection system. Through real-time recognition of the posture of swimmers in the swimming pool, it can determine the drowning person and alert in time. The system's proposed algorithm has been put to the test on multiple real-world video sequences taken in swimming pools, and the findings show that it is very accurate and capable of monitoring people in real time. The experimental results show that the detection speed of the system is 6 FPS, while the detection rate is 94.1 %, while the false detection rate is 5.9%. The effect is good, which satisfying the anticipated requirements. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper investigates the performance of simultaneously transmitting and reflecting surface (STARS) assisted semi-grant-free non-orthogonal multiple access network with randomly distributed users. By deploying STARS, the transmit signals of grant-based user (GBU) and grant-free users (GFUs) can be exquisitely adjusted to reduce interference. We propose a maximum channel scheduling (MCS) protocol that allows a GFU to access GBU’s channel with the assistance of STARS. In particular, the impacts of perfect/imperfect successive interference cancellation (pSIC/ipSIC) on MCS protocol are taken into account. To characterize the performance of STARS aided MCS (STARS-MCS) network, we derive the expressions of outage probability for GBU and GFU with pSIC/ipSIC. By applying convolution theorem and Laplace transform, the asymptotic expressions of outage probability and diversity orders for GBU and GFU are attained. We further design a STARS-based power control (SPC) strategy to eliminate the outage probability error floor and improve the outage performance. Numerical results show that: 1) The performance of STARS-MCS outperforms the existing benchmarks in terms of outage probability and system throughput;2) The SPC strategy can effectively improve the performance of the STARS-MCS network and eliminate the outage probability error floor at high signal-to-noise ratios;and 3) By adjusting reflection and transmission coefficients of STARS, the outage performance of GBU and GFU can be greatly enhanced. © 2025 IEEE. Occupancy detection is crucial in optimizing building energy efficiency and enhancing occupant comfort. This study introduces an innovative data-driven approach for accurate occupancy detection in an office room environment. Specifically, the methodology combines the advantages of Independent Component Analysis (ICA) to extract essential features from multivariate data and Kantorovitch distance (KD)-based schemes for detection sensitivity. The KD scheme’s detection threshold is computed nonparametrically using kernel density estimation to enhance the sensitivity of occupancy detection. The efficacy of this strategy is evaluated utilizing publicly available data recorded during winter in Mons, Belgium, capturing vital environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, light, and CO2 levels through specialized sensors. Results demonstrate that the ICA-KD approach achieves an averaged accuracy of 98.355%, surpassing conventional approaches like Principal Component Analysis (PCA)-based, ICA-based, and other state-of-the-art methods. Additionally, the study uses Shapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) with XGBoost to explore the impact of input variables on occupancy detection, highlighting the influence of various factors under different testing conditions. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.

The plant-model ratio, developed to diagnose model-plant mismatch present in model-based controllers, inherits the same limitations from the frequency-based analysis that the method is based on. Nonetheless, the plant-model ratio shows the capacity to counteract the effect of non-linear dynamics within processes due to the ability to diagnose parametric model-plant mismatches for first-order plus time delay models. The plant-model ratio is developed before being validated on the Wood-Berry distillation column. One of the prominent limitations of frequency analysis, the filtering effects of time constant differences, is investigated and quantified for the Wood-Berry distillation column, showing the effect of time constant differences on each parametric model-plant mismatch diagnosis.

In the process of engineering project construction, the balanced allocation of resources has an important impact on the purchase of actual materials, the progress of the site construction and the arrangement of temporary facilities. Although there have been many studies on the use of evolutionary computation (EC) to solve the fixed duration of the resource-leveling problem, the optimization effect of standard EC to solve the resource-balancing problem in large-scale network design planning is reduced due to the phenomenon of premature convergence of PSO and the complexity of large-scale network planning. Therefore, in this paper, an adaptive dissipative particle swarm optimization (ADPSO) algorithm is used to solve the resource balancing optimization problem for different network-plans scales, and the feasibility of the developed model is verified using four different scaled network plans (databases). At the same time, a solution to the dynamic resource-leveling problem with optimization for a fixed duration is proposed. The results show that the proposed models are suitable for solving the problem of resource-leveling with a fixed duration of optimization of different scale network plans, and their accuracy and stability are significantly improved compared to the state-of-the-art approaches. Moreover, the proposed models are accurate and suitable for combining the calculation method of network planning time parameters with the ADPSO algorithm to realize dynamic resource balancing optimization. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Medical image fusion is considered the best method for obtaining one image with rich details for efficient medical diagnosis and *** learning provides a high performance for several medical image analysis *** paper proposes a deep learning model for the medical image fusion *** model depends on Convolutional Neural Network(CNN).The basic idea of the proposed model is to extract features from both CT and MR ***,an additional process is executed on the extracted *** that,the fused feature map is reconstructed to obtain the resulting fused ***,the quality of the resulting fused image is enhanced by various enhancement techniques such as Histogram Matching(HM),Histogram Equalization(HE),fuzzy technique,fuzzy type,and Contrast Limited Histogram Equalization(CLAHE).The performance of the proposed fusion-based CNN model is measured by various metrics of the fusion and enhancement *** realistic datasets of different modalities and diseases are tested and ***,real datasets are tested in the simulation analysis.
