In this paper, we present a VSS-based tracking control for a fixed point regulation of 2-DOF underactuated manipilators The design approach is systematic and relies on the selection of appropriate choice of two sliding surface. The controller is designed for the both sliding surfaces are attractive. Lyapunov theory is used to study and demonstrate the stability of the system. Convergence of state space is proved and robustness issues to bounded disturbances are also investigated. Simulation results on 2-DOF whirling pendulum are presented to chow the effectiveness of this approach.

This study aims to provide a review for odor detection, recognition and source localization and ongoing approaches taken to address the problem. To this aim sensor structures and chemical detection process are introduced. Next, recognition techniques of odor from detected chemicals are explained. To introduce source localization problem the odor dynamics is introduced and models of odor diffusion mechanisms are discussed from different aspects. Next, forward and inverse problems for source location are defined and demonstrated in relation to several applications. A discussion of commonly utilized estimation methods to solve the localization problem in the literature is provided;Triangulation Method, Least Squares Method, Maximum Likelihood Method, PQS are briefly discussed. Finally, a case study for mobile odor tracking is presented with simulation results.

In this paper, Parallel Current Mode control method for Boost DC-DC converter is proposed. The parallel current mode control strategy is composed of two parallel terms: one is voltage term, the other is current term. They are calculated based on the input voltage, reference output voltage, inductor current and reference inductor current. The Parallel Current Mode control method essentially distinguishes itself from the conventional current mode control method with two regulators, one for voltage regulation and the other for current regulation. Under the conventional Voltage Mode control method and the new control method, small-signal models of Boost DC-DC converter are derived. The simulation result (based on the transfer functions) using Matlab/Simulink is compared with the simulation result based on the circuit simulation model, using PSIM. Results both in Matlab/Simulink environment and in PSIM environment are in good agreement, confirming the validity of the small-signal model. Both the small-signal analysis and simulation results demonstrate that Parallel Current Mode control has superior performance as compared with Voltage Mode control.

In this study, a distributed system which could be used to detect and track an explosive carrying mobile human is designed. As a novel approach to existing odor detection and tracking methods, a technique which combines odor and sound detection is proposed for increased accuracy. To this aim, a MEMS sensor network including a pressure sensor, an accelerometer, a microphone, an odor sensor and electronic unit is proposed. For the electronic unit of this system a sensor network and least square estimation based sensor fusion algorithm is developed and simulated. The results are evaluated with respect to various paths of two humans, one carrying the explosive. The results show that odor sensing alone is not sufficient for the accurate determination of the odor track, and that by adding other conventional tracking methods, accuracy could be increased.

The paper presents the application of the Cole-Cole model for determining the runs of the return voltage of the paper-oil insulation sample through a computer simulation. Different insulation conditions were simulated through an adequate selection of parameters α and τ of the Cole-Cole model. For calculation purposes, a series - parallel substitute scheme, obtained through approximation of a discrete characteristic operator impedance Za of the model applied, was used. The diagnostics of the simulated insulation condition was based on the analysis of a few selected parameters of the return voltage, obtained from time characteristics.

Acoustic emission measurement results of acoustically induced cavitation bubbles in insulating oil are presented in this paper. Spectral analysis of acquired by a broadband transducer acoustic emission signals is proposed as a diagnostic tool for estimation of aging properties of mineral insulating oils. The article describes the main parts of the designed and built measurement apparatus used for acoustic cavitation investigation in insulating oils. In this note representative results of the experimental data taken from the apparatus are shown.

A novel digital redesign of the analog model-reference-based decentralized adaptive controller is proposed for the sampled-data large scale system consisting of N interconnected linear subsystems with actuator faults. The adaptation of the analog controller gain is derived by using the model-reference adaptive control theory based on Lyapunov method. In this paper, it is shown that the sampled-data decentralized adaptive control system is theoretically possible to asymptotically track the desired output with a specified performance even when actuator faults occur. Then, a method of actuator fault recovery is proposed. With the estimated faults, one can use the proposed input compensation method to solve actuator faults. In this paper, we also introduce a prediction-based digital redesign method to develop the corresponding sampled-data controller for the sampled-data decentralized adaptive control systems.

The Integral Resonant control (IRC) is a simple low-order control scheme that has been introduced as a high-performance controller design methodology for flexible structures with collocated actuator-sensor pairs. It is capable of achieving significant damping, over several modes, while guaranteeing closed-loop stability of the system in presence of unmodelled out-of-bandwidth dynamics. These reasons make the IRC an ideal controller for various industrial damping applications, if packaged in a simple easy-to-implement electronic module. In this work, we propose an analog implementation of the IRC scheme using a single Op-Amp circuit. The goal is to demonstrate that with a simple analog realization of the modified IRC scheme, it is possible to damp a large number of vibration modes. A brief discussion about the modeling, circuit considerations, implementation and experimental results is presented in order to validate the usefulness and practicality of the proposed analog IRC implementation.
