One of the most challenging problems in designing and implementing effective management strategies and demand responses in renewable-rich grids is the uncertainty associated with the power output (PO) of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The exact and trustworthy prediction of PV power can provide substantial decision support for planning and operating power systems. This paper develops an intelligent PV output power (PV-OP) forecasting model. The proposed PV-OP forecasting model consists of an Improved Complete Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition with Adaptive Noise (ICEEMDAN) signal decomposition model to decompose the original PV output power signal to different frequencies, LSTM neural network as a main forecaster engine, and multi-objective NSGA-II optimization algorithm as a hyperparameters optimizer. The developed PV power forecasting model was validated using the PV power datasets of an off-grid village located in Chalokwa, Zambia. The obtained results confirmed the performance and accuracy of the proposed PV output power forecasting model. © 2023 IEEE.

Ultrasound examination is pivotal in the preoperative assessment of Proximal Humerus Fractures (PHF). To construct a 3D representation of the entire upper arm, it is critical to minimize the relative error between the probe's axis and the skin's normal to secure high-fidelity images. In this research, we introduce an autonomous robotic ultrasound scanning system that facilitates both scanning and 3D reconstruction. To achieve precise control and diminish in-plane motion errors between the probe and skin, we introduce a method for in-plane normal vector search predicated on column similarity. This technique affords high-precision and high-frequency in-plane ultrasound scanning. Experimental findings confirm that our automated system consistently aligns the probe with the skin's normal direction on human arms, thighs, and abdomens. The findings reveal that, relative to traditional algorithms, our method realizes an 84% increase in speed, with an average error below 4.12°. To corroborate the algorithm's efficacy in real-time scanning, we reconstructed the 3D volume of volunteers' upper arms. © 2024 IEEE.

This article investigates the adoption patterns of Industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies in the automotive component sector and links I4.0 adoption to competitive strategies. Analysis of survey data concerning 288 automotive suppliers reveals that most firms currently focus on implementing real-time collection and analysis of production data (i.e., the Internet of Things, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence), while other technologies, such as additive manufacturing and blockchain, are infrequently adopted. I4.0 adoption is associated with a simultaneous strategic emphasis on cost, quality, and delivery, thus suggesting automotive suppliers look at I4.0 as a mean to overcome performance tradeoffs. Findings also confirm that small- and medium-sized firms are less likely to adopt I4.0. Based on these results, implications for academics, managers, and policymakers are suggested. © 2023 IEEE.

Consumption of green energy in residential communities is increasing compared to conventional supply. However, the variability in generation due to different weather parameters is a significant challenge to their growth rate. Energy storage has the potential to address this issue, and sharing economy-based cloud energy storage (CES) has gained popularity as a way to reduce energy consumption costs and increase revenue. This study analyzes the deployment of CES infrastructure operation in seven residential smart homes community. All seven homes utilized CES services based on their daily net load demand. In the first phase, the PSO algorithm optimized the load trajectory, taking into account all smart home parameters and physical components. Subsequently, the operational cost of CES in the community is evaluated in scenarios with and without home energy management systems. Simulation results indicated that the energy consumption cost of the residential community from the grid is zero, and revenue is 43.59% higher when home energy management systems are employed. The modeled home parameters significantly affected total community energy costs. © 2023 IEEE.

For any n ,• and d = o(loglog(n)), we prove that there is a Boolean function F on n bits and a value γ= 2-(d) such that F can be computed by a uniform depth-(d + 1) AC0 circuit with O(n) wires, but F cannot be computed by any depth-d TC0 circuit with n1 +-3 wires. This bound matches the current state-of-the-art lower bounds for computing explicit functions by threshold circuits of depth d > 2, which were previously known only for functions outside AC0 such as the parity function. Furthermore, in our result, the AC0 circuit computing F is a monotone∗read-once formula∗(i.e., an AND-OR tree), and the lower bound holds even in the average-case setting with respect to advantage n-3. At a high level, our proof strategy combines two prominent approaches in circuit complexity from the last decade: The celebrated∗random projections∗method of Håstad, Rossman, Servedio, and Tan (J. ACM 2017), which was previously used to show a tight average-case depth hierarchy for AC0;and the line of works analyzing the effect of∗random restrictions∗on threshold circuits. We show that under a modified version of Håstad, Rossman, Servedio, and Tan's projection procedure, any depth-d threshold circuit with n1 +-3 wires simplifies to a near-trivial function, whereas an appropriately parameterized AND-OR tree of depth d + 1 maintains structure. © 2023 Owner/Author.

A novel score function based on the Poincaré metric is proposed and applied to a decision-making problem. Decision-making on Fuzzy Sets (FSs) has been considered due to the flexibility of the data, and it is applied to the decision-making. However, decisions with FSs are sometimes nondecisive even for different membership degrees. Hence, Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets (IFSs) data is applied to design a score function for the decision-making with the Poincaré metric. This function is supported by the profound information of IFSs;IFSs include hesitation degree together with membership and non-membership degree. Hence, IFS membership and non-membership degree are expressed as two-dimensional vectors satisfying the Poincaré metric for simplification. At the same time, the proposed approach addresses the hesitation information in the IFS data. Next, a score function is proposed, constructed and provided. The proposed score function has a strict monotonic property and addresses the preference without resorting to the accuracy function. The strict monotonic property guarantees the preference of all attributes. Additionally, the existing problem of score function design in IFSs is addressed: they return zero scores even with different meanings for the same membership and non-membership degree. The advantages of the proposed score function over existing ones are demonstrated through illustrative examples. From the calculation results, the proposed decision score function discriminates between all candidates. Hence, the proposed research provides a solid foundation for the hesitation analysis on the decision-making problem. © 2024 The Authors.

In multi-label classification, machine learning encounters the challenge of domain generalization when handling tasks with distributions differing from the training data. Existing approaches primarily focus on vision object recognition and neglect the integration of natural language. Recent advancements in vision-language pre-training leverages supervision from extensive visual-language pairs. This allows learning across diverse domains and enhances recognition in multi-modal scenarios, showcasing superior transfer learning capabilities in methods like CLIPood. However, CLIPood has several limitations: differences in the utilized loss, loss of generality in evaluating only a single backbone, and neglect of class-aware visual *** address these, we propose this paper that infers the actual loss based on the implementation, broadens evaluations to larger vision-language backbones, and introduces Mixup-CLIPood with a novel mix-up loss for enhanced class-aware visual fusion. © 2024 IEEE.
