Economic dispatch has a significant effect on optimal economical operation in the power systems in industrial revolution 4.0 in terms of considerable savings in *** non-linearity are added to make the fossil fuel-based power systems more *** order to achieve an accurate economical schedule,valve point loading effect,ramp rate constraints,and prohibited operating zones are being considered for realistic *** this paper,an improved,and modified version of conventional particle swarm optimization(PSO),called Oscillatory PSO(OPSO),is devised to provide a cheaper schedule with optimum *** conventional PSO is improved by deriving a mechanism enabling the particle towards the trajectories of oscillatory motion to acquire the entire search space.A set of differential equations is implemented to expose the condition for trajectory motion in *** adaptive inertia weights,this OPSO method provides an optimized cost of generation as compared to the conventional particle swarm optimization and other new meta-heuristic approaches.

A flexible-grid 1×(2×3)mode-and wavelength-selective switch which comprises counter-tapered couplers and silicon microring resonators has been proposed,optimized,and demonstrated experimentally in this *** carefully thermally tuning phase shifters and silicon microring resonators,mode and wavelength signals can be independently and flexibly conveyed to any one of the output ports,and different bandwidths can be generated as *** particle swarm optimization algorithm and finite difference time-domain method are employed to optimize structural parameters of the twomode(de)multiplexer and crossing *** bandwidth-tunable wavelength-selective optical router composed of12 microring resonators is studied by taking advantage of the transfer matrix *** results show that,for the fabricated module,cross talk less than-10.18 dB,an extinction ratio larger than 17.41 d B,an in-band ripple lower than0.79 dB,and a 3-dB bandwidth changing from 0.38 to 1.05 nm are obtained,as the wavelength-channel spacing is 0.40 *** corresponding response time is measured to be 13.64μs.

We present the implementation and validation of Sketch, an algorithm that uses two Unpiloted Aerial Systems (UASs) to trace the boundary of volcanic plumes. Sketchguarantees asymptotically optimal flight distance and turning by maintaining a sandwich invariant where one UAS stays inside the plume boundary (defined by a $\textbf{CO}_{2}$ concentration threshold) and the other UAS stays outside. The UASs adjust their flight paths based on real-time CO 2 measurements to maintain this invariant. This paper details the implementation of Sketchon a real-world UAS platform, the Dragonfly drone. We evaluate the efficacy of Sketchthrough extensive testing in physics-based simulations and real-world outdoor environments using virtual plumes. The algorithm is compared to a single-UAS baseline algorithm called Zigzag. Results show that Sketchmeets the expectations set by theory, and it is more efficient than Zigzag, achieving shorter flight paths, less turning, and faster mapping times. While Zigzagexhibits slightly higher accuracy in estimating plume area and boundary, Sketchoffers a more efficient real-time volcanic plume monitoring approach, especially in time-sensitive situations. These results demonstrate the feasibility and efficacy of Sketchfor real-time volcanic plume monitoring, paving the way for accurate $\textbf{CO}_2$ emission estimation in hazardous and challenging environments.

Optical coherence elastography(OCE)can quantitatively obtain the viscoelasticity of tissues using rheological models and is widely applied to the clinical diagnosis of ***,commonly used rheological models in OCE do not account for the distinctive dependence of high-frequency storage and loss moduli on frequency in tissues,which results in the rheological models failing to accurately measure the viscoelastic properties of *** this paper,a modified Kelvin-Voigt fractional derivative model is presented based on the power-law behavior of soft tissues and the dependence of high-frequency complex shear modulus on frequency in living *** the rheometer and OCE tests,the modified model can provide the prediction of the power-law relationship between the low-frequency shear viscosity and frequency;compared with the Kelvin-Voigt and Kelvin-Voigt fractional derivative models,the modified model has a higher goodness-of-fit(accuracy>96%)for the high-frequency storage moduli of gelatin ***,the proposed model can reduce the root mean square error of fit by approximately 83%for the high-frequency(1–128 kHz)storage modulus of the polydimethylsiloxane phantoms obtained from publicly available ***,the modified model accurately predicts the mechanical properties of biomimetic materials over a wide frequency range,with the potential to more accurately reflect pathological changes in tissues.

Chaotic Waveform-based Signal Design for Noncoherent SWIPT Receivers

This paper proposes a chaotic waveform-based multi-antenna receiver design for simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT). Particularly, we present a differential chaos shift keying (DCSK)-based SWIPT multiantenna receiver architecture, where each antenna switches between information transfer (IT) and energy harvesting (EH) modes depending on the receiver’s requirements. We take into account a generalized frequency-selective Nakagami-m fading model as well as the nonlinearities of the EH process to derive closed-form analytical expressions for the associated bit error rate (BER) and the harvested direct current (DC), respectively. We show that, both depend on the parameters of the transmitted waveform and the number of receiver antennas being utilized in the IT and EH mode. We investigate a trade-off in terms of the BER and energy transfer by introducing a novel achievable ‘success rate - harvested energy’ region. Moreover, we demonstrate that energy and information transfer are two conflicting tasks and hence, a single waveform cannot be simultaneously optimal for both IT and EH. Accordingly, we propose appropriate transmit waveform designs based on the application specific requirements of acceptable BER or harvested DC or both. Accurate localization is essential for enabling modern full self-driving services. These services heavily rely on map-based traffic information to reduce uncertainties in recognizing lane shapes, traffic light locations, and traffic signs. Achieving this level of reliance on map information requires centimeter-level localization accuracy, which is currently only achievable with LiDAR sensors. However, LiDAR is known to be vulnerable to spoofing attacks that emit malicious lasers against LiDAR to overwrite its measurements. Once localization is compromised, the attack could lead the victim off roads or make them ignore traffic lights. Motivated by these serious safety implications, we design SLAMSpoof, the first practical LiDAR spoofing attack on localization systems for self-driving to assess the actual attack significance on autonomous vehicles. SLAMSpoof can effectively find the effective attack location based on our scan matching vulnerability score (SMVS), a point-wise metric representing the potential vulnerability to spoofing attacks. To evaluate the effectiveness of the attack, we conduct real-world experiments on ground vehicles and confirm its high capability in real-world scenarios, inducing position errors of ≥4.2 meters (more than typical lane width) for all 3 popular LiDAR-based localization algorithms. FedSOL: Stabilized Orthogonal Learning with Proximal Restrictions in Federated Learning

Federated Learning (FL) aggregates locally trained models from individual clients to construct a global model. While FL enables learning a model with data privacy, it often suffers from significant performance degradation when clients have heterogeneous data distributions. This data heterogeneity causes the model to forget the global knowledge acquired from previously sampled clients after being trained on local datasets. Although the introduction of proximal objectives in local updates helps to preserve global knowledge, it can also hinder local learning by interfering with local objectives. To address this problem, we propose a novel method, Federated Stabilized Orthogonal Learning (FedSOL), which adopts an orthogonal learning strategy to balance the two conflicting objectives. FedSOL is designed to identify gradients of local objectives that are inherently orthogonal to directions affecting the proximal objective. Specifically, FedSOL targets parameter regions where learning on the local objective is minimally influenced by proximal weight perturbations. Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) is a promising solution to accelerate edge inference via the dual use of wireless signals. However, this paradigm needs to minimize the inference error and latency under ISAC co-functionality interference, for which the existing ISAC or edge resource allocation algorithms become inefficient, as they ignore the inter-dependency between low-level ISAC designs and high-level inference services. This letter proposes an inference-oriented ISAC (IO-ISAC) scheme, which minimizes upper bounds on end-to-end inference error and latency using multi-objective optimization. The key to our approach is to derive a multi-view inference model that accounts for both the number of observations and the angles of observations, by integrating a half-voting fusion rule and an angle-aware sensing model. Simulation results show that the proposed IO-ISAC outperforms other benchmarks in terms of both accuracy and latency. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
