In this work, we present a memristor crossbar array-based hardware architecture designed to solve a system of differential equations for the Hodgkin-Huxley neuron model. The system extends from previous works to perform more computations in-memory, reducing the load of software processing and distributing them onto memristive hardware along with cheap shift-and-add operations. We demonstrate the properties of the solutions produced by the system follow the expected behaviours of the Hodgkin-Huxley model under various external currents.

This paper presents a promising solution for enhancing the reliability and data rate of Internet-of-vehicles (IoV) visible light communication (VLC) systems through the utilization of optical reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs). The focus is on the infrastructure-to-vehicle (I2V) scenario, where streetlights serve as internet access points. The IoV-VLC system is modeled using an advanced non-sequential raytracing approach. A novel closed-form channel model expression is proposed, incorporating transceiver, RIS, and infrastructure parameters. The proposed model is then validated against broadband raytracing simulation results considering different combinations of system parameters, including, receiver aperture size, streetlight pole height, spacing between the poles, and RIS height. Moreover, based on the derived channel model, the error rate and data rate performances of the system are analyzed. The required numbers of RIS elements allocated to each vehicle's location, to achieve a target error rate and data rate values, are further derived. Finally, this paper demonstrates the impact of various transceiver, RIS, and infrastructure parameters on the system performance. The obtained results reveal that the proposed IoV-VLC system with optimal RIS deployment effectively addresses system outage issues and meets reliability and data speed requirements regardless of the vehicle's location. The results also shed light on the influence of various factors on system performance. Notably, the total number of required RIS elements is significantly affected by factors such as receiver aperture size, space between the poles, and transmit power budget. For instance, when considering the same power budget and error rate target, the required number of RIS elements for spacing distances of 20 m, 22 m, and 24 m are determined as 132, 244, and 428 elements, respectively. Conversely, the impact of pole height is found to be minimal as long as the space between the poles remains

In the current cutting process, wear always occurs in cutting tools, and the detection of wear is an important issue. The current wear detection relies on the skills of skilled workers. On the other hand, in recent years, many examples of attempts to detect anomalies using machine learning have been reported, and their effectiveness has been demonstrated. Therefore, in this research, we focused on the effectiveness of anomaly detection in autoencoders among machine learning, and thought that if anomalies in cutting tools could be detected by introducing autoencoders, it would lead to prediction of cutting troubles. The purpose of this paper is to show that the detection of abnormality by autoencoder using audio data of cutting sound and acceleration data is effective in predicting cutting trouble. © 2021 IEEE.

Modern semiconductor manufacturing production lines include several technological processes such as diffusion, wafer cleaning and epitaxy and therefore they are subject to degradation phenomena that must be carefully monitored. The processed semiconductor wafer consequently requires a very accurate testing phase which allows to detect the presence of defects to be traced back to the production line and which can have an impact on the downstream yield. The electric wafer testing phase (EWS i.e. electrical Wafer Sorting) is certainly one of the key stages in semiconductor wafer monitoring in both classical silicon-based technology and modern silicon carbide production lines. The EWS validation phase includes the execution of several electrical tests directly on the integrated circuits (dies) over the wafer. The EWS electrical assessment outcome can be reported in a 2D binary image-map enabling the formation of specific visual patterns in accordance with the defect statistics found in the testing phase. Specifically, from this intelligent EWS analysis it is possible to early-assess defects in the production lines, electrical defects in the devices and finally a proper wafer-yield forecasting estimation. The classification of the EWS image-map visual patterns is a very challenging and time-consuming task. In that context, ad-hoc deep learning solution has been developed in order to perform supervised/unsupervised EWS image-maps patterns recognition and tracking. The related pipeline is composed by ad-hoc convolutional deep architecture with an innovative augmentation system based on spatiotemporal preprocessing of input EWS image-maps. The implemented architecture is able to classify the input EWS binary maps into a well-known pattern-classes whose features at the production line level and the impact on yield are known. Multimodal exercise (MME) interventions are beneficial for physical fitness, psychosocial health, cognition, or combinations of these aspects of health and wellness in healthy and clinical populations. However, MME intervention studies are laborious to conduct and difficult to assess due to the number of constructs needed to be assessed. The current study is a secondary analysis of the data obtained from the Golf for Healthy Aging (GHA) exercise intervention study. The goal of this work was to develop an analytical framework, using mathematical abstraction and modified K-means clustering, to assess the interrelations of GHA outcome variables, in order to discover novel, testable hypotheses regarding intervention effects for future studies.

Efficient job scheduling and resource management contributes towards system throughput and efficiency maximization in high-performance computing (HPC) systems. In this paper, we introduce a scalable job scheduling and resource management component within the structural simulation toolkit (SST), a cycle-accurate and parallel discrete-event simulator. Our proposed simulator includes state-of-the-art job scheduling algorithms and resource management techniques. Additionally, it introduces a workflow management components that supports the simulation of task dependencies and resource allocations, crucial for workflows typical in scientific computing and data-intensive applications. We present validation and scalability results of our job scheduling simulator. Simulation shows that our simulator achieves good accuracy in various metrics (e.g., job wait times, number of nodes usage) and also achieves good parallel performance.

Universal sublinear resistivity in vanadium kagome materials hosting charge density waves

The recent discovery of a charge density (CDW) state in ScV6Sn6 at TCDW = 91 K offers new opportunities to understand the origins of electronic instabilities in topological kagome systems. By comparing to the isostructural non-CDW compound LuV6Sn6, we unravel interesting electrical transport properties in ScV6Sn6, above and below the charge-ordering temperature. We observed that by applying a magnetic field along the a axis, the temperature behavior of the longitudinal resistivity in ScV6Sn6 changes from metal-like to insulator-like above the CDW transition. We show that in the charge-ordered state ScV6Sn6 follows the Fermi liquid behavior while above that, the resistivity varies sublinearly over a broad temperature range. The sublinear resistivity, which scales by T3/5 is a common feature among other vanadium-containing kagome compounds exhibiting CDW states such as KV3Sb5, RbV3Sb5, and CsV3Sb5. By contrast, the sublinear behavior of the resistivity does not occur in LuV6Sn6. Finally, we show anomalous Hall-like behavior in ScV6Sn6 below TCDW, which is absent in the Lu compound. Comparing the transport properties of ScV6Sn6 and LuV6Sn6 is valuable to highlight the impacts of the unusual CDW in the Sc compound.

In this work, a vertically stackable 4F2 memcapacitor crossbar array based on charge trap flash (CTF) is experimentally demonstrated with a TiN-AI2O3-Si3N4-SiO 2 -Si (TANOS) gate stack. 4-bit multi-level operation of the fabricated 24x 48 array is verified with more than 10 years of retention and no read/write disturbance. Also, vector-matrix multiplication (VMM) operations with an error of 0.227 % are validated, along with read operations using a sensing circuit. Based on the measurement data of the planar array, the capability of performing read/write operations with a vertically stacked 3-D structure is verified through TCAD simulations. A weight transfer procedure is also provided to enhance VMM accuracy in a scaled-down vertical structure, resulting in significantly suppressed VMM errors.
