We bring historical findings related to the most important Latin American and Brazilian Robotics Symposiums including their quality analytics regarding all papers published since their creation. For this quality analysis, we first provide a little of history and then we apply a methodology based on a systematic mapping of the literature using Scopus (from Elsevier) and Web of Science. The quality analysis includes variables as citations metrics, and also other historical variables as participation per countries, per states, per universities, and contributed areas among others. We use metadata and tools available in the most commonly used digital libraries, for a fair comparison. To the end, with basis on the results of our methodological approach, we point out that the community has followed the right path for establishing a high quality event, mainly regarding the decision of publication of the proceedings at IEEE Xplore, and recently in the Brazilian computer Society Library (Sol-SBC), all together. Also, our analysis corroborate to verify the modi operandi that have been used in the events execution, including joining in the Workshop of Robotics in Education (WRE) and the competitions (RCB, OBR, MNR, CBR, LARC). Besides happening jointly, each event keeps their original event structure and characteristics.

Image classification has been instrumental in the interpretation and labeling of images in the field of remote sensing, computer vision, and in robotics applications. Machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms, particularly artificial neural networks, are extensively utilized for this purpose. In this work we propose the Expanded Latent Space Autoencoder (ELSA) with a case use application to classify land cover data. The main idea on the ELSA network structure is to utilize the latent spaces of multiple internal autoencoders in order to create an expanded latent space. This expanded latent space extracts more information from the input data, and serves as input features for a more simpler classifier network. In order to evaluate the proposed network's ability to extract features and classify complex and multispectral images we employed it to the EuroSAT dataset. The results demonstrate a remarkable capacity for feature extraction using the ELSA network, with lower complexity, trained with a reduced number of images. The classifier network achieved a final accuracy of 98.7%, matching or exceeding the performance of more complex state-of-the-art models.

Solar-powered dryers are still expensive and difficult to obtain for farmers with medium to low production capacity. For this reason, it is necessary to develop technology on a solar-powered dryer with a solar panel capacity of 200WP is equipped with a maximum power point tracker as an integrated solar collector with a photovoltaic system. The system in this solar-powered dryer consists of a solar panel tracker, a rotating aluminum cylinder net, a photovoltaic tracker, a battery bank, a microcontroller, and a DC/AC inverter. This system improves the performance of solar panels in the drying process of Moringa leaves. This design is expect to be the right system to ensure maximum results by providing solar radiation energy in the drying process of agricultural products. The aims goal to minimize problems in the drying of agricultural products experienced by farmers using an automatic dual-energy solar-powered dryer as a development innovation for the drying process. This study uses an experimental methodology and field data collection using a solar-powered dryer that has been analyzed and measured to obtain data comparisons. shows the maximum data of voltage and power response in positioning photovoltaic to produce the increased output power of photovoltaic array. Maximum application of powerpoint tracker on microcontroller based dual energy solar powered dryer on solar panels for drying moringa leaves produces the advantage of maximum energy absorption in solar panels and shortens the time in the drying process of moringa leaves. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Batik is an Indonesian world cultural heritage. Batik consists of many kinds of patterns depending on where the batik comes from, Batik-making techniques continue to develop along with technology development. Among the batik making techniques that are widely used are hand-written, stamping, and printing. Batik motifs have been widely used as research material, especially in the field of artificial intelligence. The diverse appearance of batik motifs has attracted many researchers to carry out research on making synthetic batik patterns, one of which uses a Generative Adversarial Network. This paper presents a synthetic batik pattern model based on the Wasserstein Generative Adversarial Network with Gradient Penalty. This model has been proven to create new synthetic batik patterns quite well and almost identical with images provided in the dataset, with the notes if the dataset provided is large. © 2023 IEEE.

The use of long short-term memory models to estimate soybean pricing: a regional climate data evaluation from Brazil

This work uses machine learning methods to analyze the influence of the Brazilian climate on international soybean price variability. For this purpose, climatic data, historical series of the extended national consumer price index, dollar price historical series, soybean harvest historical series, and international soybean price historical series are collected from different data sources. The data is then preprocessed and grouped by state. Afterward, data from the five most productive Brazilian states, Mato Grosso (MT), Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), Goiás (GO), Paraná (PR), and Rio Grande do Sul (RS), which together correspond to 74.9% of total production, are chosen. Then, predictive models were built using the long short-term memory (LSTM) method, which is applied to each state dataset considering two different settings: with and without climatic data. Thus, two models were built for each Brazilian state, totaling ten predictors. These models are evaluated using 10-fold sequential split cross-validation, whose predictive results are used for performance comparison through statistical hypothesis testing. In the experimental evaluation, when trained with climatic data, the PR model achieved the lowest average values of root mean squared error (RMSE) and mean absolute error (MAE), which are 20.90 and 16.72, respectively. Regarding predictors trained without climate data, the RS and PR obtained the lowest averaged values of RMSE (20.84) and MAE (16.81), respectively. After performing statistical hypothesis tests, no significant differences were found between the models, stating, with certainty 95%, that the Brazilian climatic data did not influence soybean prices in our study. © 2013 IEEE.

Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) is a transformative technology using the passive beamforming capabilities to create the programmable wireless environments. However, the control overhead is a challenging issue. The system needs to deliver the high-precision reflection coefficients to the RIS controller, for adjusting the phase shifts of the numerous RIS elements. Therefore, we propose a Spirograph-based discrete beamdirection strategy, which selects a set of non-uniformly distributed beam directions based on the generic patterns generated by the Spirograph (SG). We evaluate the achievable data rate and the number of controlling bits of SG-based method. We compare the SG-based method, the ideal continuous phase-shift method, and the SISO method. Simulation results show that with the properly-selected discrete beam directions, the SG-based method can achieve a comparable data rate as the ideal method, while having a lower control overhead. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, we performed a simulation for a physical resistive random-access device (RRAM) to propose an improved model representing its electrical characteristics. Voltage ThrEshold Adaptive Memristor (VTEAM) model that operates based on the voltage threshold of the device adapted for the RRAM simulation. We applied some physical features to the model to adjust the internal state variable to improve the simulation results. The internal state variable used in the model was designed after the physical feature such as the distance between the end of the filament and the electrode of the device. Therefore, applying some of these physical conditions affects the simulation results. Simulation results with the newly applied model showed optimized I-V characteristics that resemble the physical device's behavior more than the existing model. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel algorithm for reachability analysis of nonlinear discrete-time systems. The proposed method combines constrained zonotopes (CZs) with polyhedral relaxations of factorable representations of nonlinear functions to propagate CZs through nonlinear functions, which is normally done using conservative linearization techniques. The new propagation method provides better approximations than those resulting from linearization procedures, leading to significant improvements in the computation of reachable sets in comparison to other CZ methods from the literature. Numerical examples highlight the advantages of the proposed algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.

Universities can employ information technology as one means of achieving their goals and objectives. Universities can get advantages from information technology, such as effective resource management and information management for decision-making. However, don't forget that the campus must consider what technology is appropriate to assist them achieve their goals, particularly in the current industrial era 4.0 where technology is available with many different choices. The campus requires an enterprise architecture in order to design, manage, and coordinate information technology infrastructure, applications, and processes strategically and thoroughly. The adoption of enterprise information system architecture (EA) is also intended to improve the quality of services provided to internal and external stakeholders. In this case, Enterprise Architecture can help an organization to match its information technology resources with business processes and strategies to achieve their goals. This research was conducted using TOGAF ADM, also known as the Open Group Architecture Framework Architecture Development Method. Crop Yield Analysis and Prediction is a fast-expanding discipline that is critical for optimizing agricultural methods. A lack of trustworthy data is one of the challenges in estimating crop yields. We develop predictive models for 22 different fruits and vegetables data. The goals of this study are to create accurate and interpretable crop recommendation models. We used multiple machine learning (ML) models for multi-class crop production prediction to fulfill our research goal. We thoroughly examined the influence of climate and nutrient factors on crop yield, considering their complex interactions. To improve the dataset, augmented data techniques were applied. Configuring the parameters and fine-tuning the hyperparameters is our technique to increase the model performance. Furthermore, we employ explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) techniques and interpretability tools like Shapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) to improve the interpretability of our prediction model. Our findings reveal that the XGBoost model has the best performance model with 99.86% accuracy, followed by SVM Poly Kernel with 99.32% and Random Forest with 98.82%. Feature selection and analysis are emphasized, particularly in regional agricultural contexts. This study contributes to the creation of accurate and interpretable crop recommendation models while also addressing the issue of untrustworthy data, providing useful insights for optimizing agricultural practices. © 2023 IEEE.
