We present Reusable Motion prior (ReMP), an effective motion prior that can accurately track the temporal evolution of motion in various downstream tasks. Inspired by the success of foundation models, we argue that a robust spatio-temporal motion prior can encapsulate underlying 3D dynamics applicable to various sensor modalities. We learn the rich motion prior from a sequence of complete parametric models of posed human body shape. Our prior can easily estimate poses in missing frames or noisy measurements despite significant occlusion by employing a temporal attention mechanism. More interestingly, our prior can guide the system with incomplete and challenging input measurements to quickly extract critical information to estimate the sequence of poses, significantly improving the training efficiency for mesh sequence recovery. ReMP consistently outperforms the baseline method on diverse and practical 3D motion data, including depth point clouds, LiDAR scans, and IMU sensor data. Heart Disease remains a leading cause of mortality worldwide. It alarmingly rises at a quick rate, making early heart disease prediction crucial for effective prevention and timely intervention. Heart disease diagnosis is a difficult process that requires technical skills and accuracy to complete. With improvements in technology, computing has lent its voice to simplify the diagnosis of various health problems. Machine learning uses past or existing history to predict future results. Various machine learning techniques have been developed over the years and used in predicting heart diseases with various levels of performance. Identifying the best-suited machine learning technique to use for prediction purposes can be a challenging task. This research work analyses the performance of seven (7) machine learning techniques, comprising AdaBoost Algorithm, KNN, Logistic Regression, Naïve Bayes Classifier, Random Forest, SVM, and XGBoost. The heart disease dataset was downloaded from the UCI repository and analysed using Python programming language in the Jupyter Notebook environment. A comparative analysis of the seven (7) techniques was performed based on Accuracy, Precision, and Recall. From the results obtained, KNN, Random Forest, and XGBoost showed superior performance over the others with an accuracy of 100%, AdaBoost Algorithm followed with an accuracy of 92.2%, SVM followed with an accuracy of 91.71%, Naïve Bayes Classifier followed with an accuracy of 88.29% while Logistic Regression has the least accuracy of 86.34%. KNN, RF, and XGBoost outperformed AdaBoost, SVN, and LR. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

In this paper, we performed a simulation for a physical resistive random-access device (RRAM) to propose an improved model representing its electrical characteristics. Voltage ThrEshold Adaptive Memristor (VTEAM) model that operates based on the voltage threshold of the device adapted for the RRAM simulation. We applied some physical features to the model to adjust the internal state variable to improve the simulation results. The internal state variable used in the model was designed after the physical feature such as the distance between the end of the filament and the electrode of the device. Therefore, applying some of these physical conditions affects the simulation results. Simulation results with the newly applied model showed optimized I-V characteristics that resemble the physical device's behavior more than the existing model. © 2022 IEEE.

Research has been carried out to monitor vehicle tires before they are used and can reduce damage, including overcoming vehicle fuel waste because air pressure is continuously monitored. This research aims to utilize the MPX5500DP sensor as an air pressure device, the LM35 sensor as a temperature reader, and a buzzer based on IoT to build a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The MPX5500DP and LM35 sensor inputs to the Arduino Uno microcontroller are distributed by the NodeMCU, fitted with a Wi-Fi module. The Blynk application sends and displays the data on a smartphone using the IoT-based. Based on this research, data on the percentage of errors in monitoring air pressure and tire temperature on vehicles were obtained by comparing the data to the pressure gauge and thermometer: 1-the results of the average reading of the sensor error value. MPX5500DP air pressure against pressure gauge is 5.3%. 2-the average reading of the LM35 sensor error value on the temperature thermometer is 6.8%. With this research, the air pressure and temperature in the tires can be monitored in real-Time via a smartphone using the IoT-based. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, we investigate the fundamental limits of reliable communication over a discrete memoryless channel (DMC) when there are a large number of noisy views of a transmitted symbol, i.e., when several copies of a single symbol are sent independently through the DMC. We argue that the channel capacity and dispersion of such a multi-view DMC converge exponentially quickly in the number of views to to the entropy and varentropy of the input distribution, respectively, and identify the exact rate of convergence. This rate equals the smallest Chernoff information between two conditional distributions of the output given unequal inputs. Our results hence help us characterize the largest finite-blocklength rates achievable for any fixed error probability. We also present a new channel model that we call the Poisson approximation channel-of possible independent interest-whose capacity closely approximates the capacity of the multi-view binary symmetric channel (BSC).

Alleviate sidewall damage of InGaN green micro-LEDs by atomic layer etching

In this work, atomic layer etching (ALE) technology is demonstrated to alleviate the sidewall damage generated during the mesa etching process of InGaN micro-LEDs. TEM images verify the existence of the sidewall damage and its mitigation after 200-cycle ALE sidewall treatment. The defect-related leakage current density significantly decreases from 3 × 10 −5 to 7 × 10 −6 A/cm 2 at −20 V bias through sidewall treatment. InGaN green micro-LEDs (11 µm) with ALE sidewall treatment show a more than 10% enhancement in external quantum efficiency compared to untreated reference devices. This work provides a new, to our knowledge, perspective on addressing the sidewall effect in micro-LEDs, aiding the realization of high-efficiency InGaN micro-LEDs in the near term.

An accurate predictive model of temperature and humidity plays a vital role in many industrial processes that utilize a closed space such as in agriculture and building management. With the exceptional performance of deep learning on time-series data, developing a predictive temperature and humidity model with deep learning is propitious. In this study, we demonstrated that deep learning models with multivariate time-series data produce remarkable performance for temperature and relative humidity prediction in a closed space. In detail, all deep learning models that we developed in this study achieve almost perfect performance with an R value over 0.99. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

Bi-isotropic and bi-anisotropic materials are expected to revolutionize wireless communications through the extended use of metasurfaces. This paper proposes a time-domain integral equation solver to simulate non-dispersive biisotropic materials under the thin-sheet approximation. Thin-sheet approximation is used to convert the time-domain volume integral equation for non-dispersive bi-isotropic media into a surface integral equation. This surface equation is discretized in space using Rao-Wilton-Glisson (RWG) basis functions for the tangential components of the electric and magnetic fluxes and pulse basis functions for their normal components (relative to the surface of the thin sheet). In time, shifted Lagrange polynomials are used for discretization. Applying Galerkin testing in space and point matching in time yields a matrix system. This matrix system is solved for the unknown basis expansion coefficients at each time step via time-marching. Numerical results demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed method. Future work includes extending this solver to dispersive bi-anisotropic media and use it in the simulation of metasurface represented by generalized sheet transition conditions (GSTCs).

Characteristic variability induced by process variation effect (PVE) is one of technological challenges in semiconductor industry. In this work, we computationally study electrical characteristic and power fluctuations induced by six factors of PVE of the gate-all-around (GAA) silicon (Si) nanosheet (NS) complementary field-effect-transistors (CFETs) which are formed by vertically stacking n-FET on top of p-FET. Among the six factors, NS thickness (TNS), NS width (WNS), and gate length (LG) are identified as crucial factors contributing to large variations in device characteristics. The p-FET exhibits substantial off-state current fluctuation (about 151%) due to the bottom parasitic channel leakages. Compared with the magnitudes of dynamic and short circuit powers, the static power is marginal, but it possesses the largest fluctuation (up to 148%). If we assume that each factor of PVE has the same probability distribution as the others and all are mutually independent, the statistical sum of their power fluctuations will exhibit more than 50% overestimations, compared with the results when all factors are considered simultaneously. © 2020 IEEE.

In this innovative practice work-in-progress paper, enrollment data from five institutions was used to examine equity in undergraduate research through Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) programs. VIP is a model for undergraduate research in which large student teams are embedded in faculty-driven projects. The American Association of Colleges and Universities recognizes undergraduate research as a high-impact experience, associated with higher graduation rates and greater learning gains in college. Participation in multiple high-impact experiences yields cumulative gains to students from all backgrounds, and compensatory gains for minoritized and marginalized students. Nationally however, minoritized students, first-generation college students, and transfer students participate in undergraduate research at lower rates than their peers. In this study, VIP enrollments at five institutions (N = 6,651 over two semesters) were compared to demographics of the institutions to determine the degree to which programs achieved equity among historically underserved minorities, transfer students, first-generation college students, and by gender. Analysis accounted for demographics and level of participation of the academic units involved, comparing enrollments with what would be expected under equitable enrollment. Analyses were done for each institution and across the pooled sample. By institution, equity across categories varied. Across the pooled sample, results show small effects sizes for status as a historically underserved minority, very small effect sizes for first-generation students and transfer students, and slightly higher participation among women than men. The large-scale nature of VIP teams enables institutions to scale-up their undergraduate research offerings. This paper begins answering the question of whether this scaling increases access for marginalized populations, and the results are encouraging.
