We have previously reported spontanous formation of InGaN/GaN superlattice structure on nominal InGaN films grown by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy (PAMBE). In this work, we report on the impact of In flux on the formation and periodicity of self-assembled InxGa1-xN/InyGa1-yN superlattice structure (SASL). We show that the thickness and In composition in the InGaN layer varies by changing the In flux. These films were stucturally characterized by X-ray diffraction and simulated by globalfit software to get the thickness and In composition. The superlattice structures were confimred by scanning transmission electron microscopy and the thickness of InGaN layer and In composition were determined by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. This work can provide a method for using the SASL with better control for their optoelectronics application. © 2022 IEEE.

Human-in-the-loop cyber-physical Systems use data from various sources to provide valuable assistance to users, but privacy concerns arise when sensitive information is shared. Federated Learning is a promising solution that enables the processing of user data without sharing sensitive information. While this method holds great potential, its efficacy in detecting sleep problems remains an open question. In this way, using a real-world dataset application, our study meticulously evaluates and comprehends the impact of incorporating Federated Learning on sleep detection. Our study evaluates the impact of incorporating Federated Learning on sleep detection and compares it with traditional Machine Learning models. Our findings reveal that our approach delivers accurate sleep detection results over 84% on par with conventional techniques. Our results emphasize the critical importance of handling human error inputs, as this factor significantly influences the accuracy of results in both methods.

This article explores the development and implementation of futuristic bins with automated waste sortation systems to address improper and mixed waste disposal challenges. Despite the existence of categorized waste bins, individuals often dispose of waste improperly, hindering the sorting and decomposition processes. Integrating advanced technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), futuristic bins offer innovative solutions. Futuristic bins with automated sorting systems facilitate accurate waste sorting, reduce mixing, and optimize waste disposal. These bins increase efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize collection routes while promoting environmental cleanliness and awareness of waste management. The article describes the research methodology, including preliminary study, specification requirements analysis, prototype development, and testing. The results demonstrate the implemented system's accuracy and real-time object detection capabilities. The study also acknowledges limitations and suggests future research directions, including improving communication between object detection algorithms and microcontrollers. Overall, the development of futuristic bins with automated waste sortation systems represents a significant advancement in waste management, with the potential to revolutionize waste management systems and create sustainable cities and communities.

Sleep is the natural state of relaxation for human being. Sleep quality is an essential yet frequently neglected aspect of sleep in general. Sleep quality is essential because it allows the body to restore itself and prepare for the next day. The standard method for evaluating sleep quality was subjective evaluation. Actigraphy devices, which can measure the sleep cycle, are now widely available. This study developed a method using Fuzzy Logic and an actigraphy device to measure and classify sleep quality. The fuzzy logic method was developed in several stages, which are determining the sleep quality measurement parameters, constructing the fuzzy set for each input variable, and developing the fuzzy rules. To evaluate the proposed fuzzy model, five individuals were invited to participate in the experiment and required to complete the PSQI subjective sleep questionnaire. The evaluation result shows that our proposed Fuzzy model achieves lower error compared to the existing method.

Dyslexia (aka reading disability) is the most common cause of learning disabilities. It affects children across language orthographies, despite adequate intelligence and educational opportunity. Studies have shown that identifying children with dyslexia at young age is crucial to provide effective intervention to improve learning outcomes. Recently we demonstrated that children with reading disability exhibit impaired performance on a virtual maze learning task across language orthographies. Using a machine learning algorithm, we have achieved a classification accuracy up to 80%. This paper presents an algorithm, including image segmentation, synchronization of image and text data, saccade detection, and event alignment, using the eye-gazing data recorded from an eye tracker during maze-solving tasks. The saccadic events detected by this algorithm showed good correlation with the incorrect decisions participants made during maze-solving, which could be an additional variable to be used in the machine learning algorithm to enhance the accuracy for dyslexia classification.

Interactive Text-to-Image Retrieval with Large Language Models: A Plug-and-Play Approach

In this paper, we primarily address the issue of dialogue-form context query within the interactive text-to-image retrieval task. Our methodology, PlugIR, actively utilizes the general instruction-following capability of LLMs in two ways. First, by reformulating the dialogue-form context, we eliminate the necessity of fine-tuning a retrieval model on existing visual dialogue data, thereby enabling the use of any arbitrary black-box model. Second, we construct the LLM questioner to generate non-redundant questions about the attributes of the target image, based on the information of retrieval candidate images in the current context. This approach mitigates the issues of noisiness and redundancy in the generated questions. Beyond our methodology, we propose a novel evaluation metric, Best log Rank Integral (BRI), for a comprehensive assessment of the interactive retrieval system. PlugIR demonstrates superior performance compared to both zero-shot and fine-tuned baselines in various benchmarks. This paper introduces the R package INLAjoint, designed as a toolbox for fitting a diverse range of regression models addressing both longitudinal and survival outcomes. INLAjoint relies on the computational efficiency of the integrated nested Laplace approximations methodology, an efficient alternative to Markov chain Monte Carlo for Bayesian inference, ensuring both speed and accuracy in parameter estimation and uncertainty quantification. The package facilitates the construction of complex joint models by treating individual regression models as building blocks, which can be assembled to address specific research questions. Joint models are relevant in biomedical studies where the collection of longitudinal markers alongside censored survival times is common. They have gained significant interest in recent literature, demonstrating the ability to rectify biases present in separate modeling approaches such as informative censoring by a survival event or confusion bias due to population heterogeneity. We provide a comprehensive overview of the joint modeling framework embedded in INLAjoint with illustrative examples. Through these examples, we demonstrate the practical utility of INLAjoint in handling complex data scenarios encountered in biomedical research. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Lilies are popular in the global flower market, but consumers often lack information about specific varieties. To address this issue, this paper proposes a computer recognition platform based on the Vision Transformer (ViT) architecture. The proposed platform uses an improved vision transformer (ViT) architecture to classify different types of lilies, allowing consumers to access information and names of various Lilium species. The experimental results show that the proposed lily classification model achieved a 96.4% accuracy rate in classifying six lily species.

This paper proposes an analytical target modifi-cation for linear robust model predictive control strategies in order to deal with time-varying references defined by dynamic signal targets. The new approach can be directly integrated to linear robust model predictive control algorithms that achieve piecewise constant reference tracking if recursive feasibility is ensured for any set-point. The main contribution is to present a direct analytical approach that provides a potentially improved steady-state tracking error performance with the same computation complexity of the original MPC for tracking piecewise constant reference. A simulation case study based on the trajectory tracking control of a quadrotor is used to illustrate the usefulness of the new analytical target modification layer.
