The rapid population growth and industrial development in developing countries harm the agricultural sector because many agricultural lands are converted into residential or industrial areas. Applying modern agriculture technologies such as hydroponic could help to overcome the problem. However, hydroponics requires special attention in adjusting the pH and nutrient levels to maximize plant growth, so an automated system is needed to manage the process. In this research, a smart hydroponic system is proposed by applying Adaptive Networkbased Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and Internet-of-Things. The IoT system consists of sensor, actuator, and data processing layer is designed to monitor and control the condition of pH and nutrition of the observed plants. Then, the ANFIS algorithm is designed to control the level of pH and nutrition. The experiment results show that the system can automatically adjust the pH and nutrient levels to the expected range for growing plants, and the fuzzy controller made using ANFIS are more accurate and stable than the fuzzy controller made using Sugeno. This study shows that ANFIS has excellent performance when controlling multiple actuators, as long as the data set has great granularity and well defined. © 2022 IEEE.

The purpose of this study is to find out what makes Generation Z students accept and use Canva as a tool for making presentation materials. The conceptual framework of this study is the combination of "Technology Acceptance Model (TAM)"and the "Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2)". "Structural Equation Modeling (SEM)"used for data analyzation. This research aims to understand the dynamics of Canva acceptance among students. The findings show that enjoyment, fun, and pleasure in using Canva, combined with its creative tools and design-centric approach, significantly resonate with Gen Z's preference for aesthetics. This research highlights that Canva is favored by students for creating engaging presentations. © 2024 IEEE.

Agriculture is a vital industry for the people of Indonesia, but there are several obstacles, including limited space in urban areas and inefficient conventional sorting and harvesting methods. Using computer vision to choose hydroponic lettuce that is ready to be harvested and a robotic arm to bring the selected lettuce yields, the produced system aims to solve this problem. The system's computer vision algorithms include color space conversion, intensity transformation, and an algorithm for following borders. This project's research methodology combines a quantitative approach with an experimental approach, which consists of conducting several trials on the built system. Several trials demonstrated that the computer vision software was able to accomplish the specified objectives. The average success rate of the developed computer vision system is 93%, while the average success rate of the robot arm is 85%.

Opinion has always affected businesses and individuals especially from the Public. People react through social media and spread it incompletely. The situation was then accepted as public opinion. There are three categories of opinion i.e., positive, negative, and neutral. To investigate public opinion on a particular issue of interest, sentiment analysis might be employed. By offering a solution to the text classification challenge, this experiment focuses on the perception of airline tweets among the American public. We offer a method to classify tweets as positive, negative, or neutral using three machine learning classifiers: Random Forest Classifier, Naive Bayes Classifier, and K-Nearest Neighbors Classifier. We examined the performance of three machine learning classifiers in terms of accuracy, average precision, average recall, and average f-1 score. The results demonstrate that the Random Forest Classifier, which produces 82% accuracy, 80% average precision, 82% average recall, and 80% average f1-score, performs the best among the machine learning classifiers. © 2023 IEEE.

Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) has recently stimulated an upsurge of research interest due to its capability of enhancing the spectral and energy efficiencies for future sixth generation (6G) wireless communication systems. This motivates the integration of IRS into simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) systems to improve the performance of energy harvesting and information de-coding. To unleash the full potential of IRS and achieve high sum-rate, the optimal joint transmitter precoding and reflective beamforming design is crucial yet challenging to solve. The issue has not been well investigated and the solution remains elusive. Hence, this research aims to jointly optimize the transmitter precoding and reflective beamforming matrices for IRS-Assisted multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) SWIPT systems under quality of service (QoS) constraints. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of IRS in enhancing the system performance. © 2022 IEEE.

Development of Brain computer Interface (BCI) has been rapid since the mid 1990‘s. There are three criteria for BCI, (i) comfortability and possession of a suitable signal acquisition device, (ii) system validation and dissemination, and (iii) reliability and potentiality. As there are no BCI possessing the optimal criteria, it was essential to consider building a new one. Thereby, the paper investigates building BCI based on the utilization of EEG signals to translate brainwave patterns into actionable commands. The primary objective is to enhance communication capabilities for individuals afflicted with neurological disorders, empowering them to command external devices and engage more effectively with their surroundings. We built our model on EEG online dataset for the purpose of feature extraction and classification. Statistical features and Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) have been applied for feature selection. Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) and Radial Basis Function (RBF) were the classifiers involved. Results showed that the proposed architecture of MLP and RBF were able to classify the EEG signals into two classes (open eye and closed eye). Results also showed that the proposed approach, which is based on the combination of statistical features and DWT for features selection using AF3 and AF4 channels by the application of MLP, has 98% succession rate. BCI system based on Arduino circuit has been built after the classification Further algorithms and system evaluation need to be considered as future work.

Foot ulcers are one of the chronic wounds commonly occurring in diabetic patients and are associated with a high risk of major or minor amputations. Evaluation and measurement of such wounds are done manually by experts to assess the wound healing and suggest further treatment. Manual assessment methods can cause infections at times and are less feasible in the existence of pandemic situations. The development of artificial intelligence has brought a revolution in many domains of medical imaging. Deep learning-based computer-aided approaches can be applied to assist clinicians in assessing and monitoring chronic wounds. Wound segmentation helps to measure wound area which is useful for assessing its healing progress. In this research work, a deep learning-based segmentation method, namely Dual-UNet is presented for precisely segmenting the diabetic foot ulcers images. The foot ulcer images are passed to Dual-UNet to generate the mask image having the segmented wound area. We proposed two modified UNets each having a customized encoder and decoder with skip connections, atrous spatial pyramid pooling (ASPP) block, and output block to improve the segmentation results. We assessed our framework by performing experimentation on two benchmark datasets, named the foot ulcer segmentation (FUSeg) challenge and the AZH segmentation dataset. Additionally, we have also assessed our Dual-UNet for cross-corpora validation to demonstrate the generalization capability of the proposed approach. The qualitative and quantitative results highlight the accuracy and effectiveness of the Dual-UN et framework for segmenting chronic diabetic wounds. Future research should focus on the development of large and diverse wound datasets and improving the results for cross-corpora evaluation.

Ontology embeddings map classes, relations, and individuals in ontologies into Rn, and within Rn similarity between entities can be computed or new axioms inferred. For ontologies in the Description Logic EL++, several embedding methods have been developed that explicitly generate models of an ontology. However, these methods suffer from some limitations;they do not distinguish between statements that are unprovable and provably false, and therefore they may use entailed statements as negatives. Furthermore, they do not utilize the deductive closure of an ontology to identify statements that are inferred but not asserted. We evaluated a set of embedding methods for EL++ ontologies based on high-dimensional ball representation of concept descriptions, incorporating several modifications that aim to make use of the ontology deductive closure. In particular, we designed novel negative losses that account both for the deductive closure and different types of negatives. We demonstrate that our embedding methods improve over the baseline ontology embedding in the task of knowledge base or ontology completion. © 2024, CC BY.

This research delves into enhancing local area power stability by integrating battery energy storage systems (BESS) with photovoltaic (PV) systems to address and accelerate the damping of post-fault oscillations following short-circuit disturbances within power grids incorporating variable renewable energy sources. Focused on implementing a power oscillation damping (POD) mechanism within PV plants, this study aims to mitigate post-fault oscillations effectively within a specified timeframe. The proposed POD within the PV plant is strategically designed to augment the grid's resilience by supplying additional active and reactive power in response to system demands post-disturbance. The integration of a 25 MW BESS has demonstrated a significant enhancement in the system's recovery speed, reducing oscillation duration from 60 seconds to 45 seconds. Moreover, a configuration with double PV systems and a 50 MW BESS further reduced the oscillation duration to 42 seconds. Utilizing PSCAD software, this study presents an innovative approach to visualize the system's behavior post-short-circuit disturbances, confirming the efficacy of BESS integration in improving system stability and reliability. These results pave the way for further exploration of optimal BESS sizing and placement strategies to maximize grid resilience.

Osteoporosis is a common disease characterized by low bone density and structural deterioration of bone tissue. For a successful course of treatment and fracture avoidance, early diagnosis of this disease is essential. The aim was to provide a novel method for osteoporosis prediction using Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based framework. The purpose was to predict the likelihood of osteoporosis based on the Bone Mineral Density (BMD), along with other characteristics such as age, weight, height, gender, and Body Mass Index (BMI) extracted from medical reports and images collected from a comprehensive medical center in Lebanon. Three machine-learning algorithms were implemented and tested, Logistic Regression (LR), Support Vector Machines (SVM), and Decision Trees (DT). Variety of quantitative statistical metrics were used to evaluate the performance of our framework, upon training and testing our algorithms. The metrics that were employed to evaluate our results included accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and F-score, in addition to the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) Curve and the Area Under the Curve (AUC). Experimental Results demonstrated that both the SVM and LR algorithms achieved the highest accuracy of detection of osteoporosis as compared to existing algorithms applied in this field, with an accuracy of 89%. The sensitivity of diagnosis obtained was 98% by LR and 97% by SVM and surpassed the sensitivity obtained by DT. As such LR showed the best performance. The output of the algorithms could help medical doctors assess patients automatically. These findings demonstrated the potential of AI in osteoporosis prediction and thus prevention, highlighting the significance of early diagnosis. Thereby as a future prospect, choosing carefully the framework is crucial and additional algorithms have to be considered and tested.
