The article introduces a two-dimensional polynomial regression model for the predictive analysis of glucose concentration in a fractal microwave sensor NP model, utilizing frequency and transmission coefficient differences to examine their correlation with glucose concentration levels. The sensor employed in this investigation is fabricated on an economical FR-4 substrate to minimize costs. The sensor structure is developed with the fractal structure reduction method established by the NP model to operate at a frequency of roughly 2.97 GHz. The CST Studio software is utilized to analyze the findings from the simulation of the suggested sensor structure. Furthermore, the proposed sensor is integrated into a test apparatus comprising a sensor platform and a liquid tube constructed from PPA material. The liquid under examination is a glucose and water mixture at varying concentrations. It was analyzed using a VNA instrument to evaluate its frequency response and the magnitude of the alteration in the transmission coefficient. The values are utilized to create a two-dimensional polynomial regression model. The experiments demonstrated that the proposed sensor model possesses an Adjusted R² value of 0.99499 and an average error of approximately 3.57% for glucose concentration analysis throughout the range of 5% to 30%, with sensitivities of 0.00879 dB/% for insertion loss and 0.092 MHz/% for frequency variation, facilitating accurate glucose concentration prediction analysis.

Water quality and availability worldwide are greatly affected by climate changes due to global warming. For instance, recently, the water levels in numerous European rivers decreased compared to their levels in centuries. Treated and desalinated water represents a promising strategic option to mitigate water scarcity. The global cost of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) depends significantly on their energy consumption. A precise prediction of energy consumption of WWTPs can comprehend and predict the plant behavior to support process design and monitoring and enhance optimization of overall performances. This paper presents a practical machine-learning approach to predict WWTP energy consumption through Light Gradient Boosting Machine (LightGBM) approach. Data from a full-scale WWTP at Melbourne eastern over five years is employed in this study. Results indicate that the LightGBM is more accurate than the other fourteen machine commonly used machine-learning models. In addition, results revealed that including lagged measurements in constructing the investigated models improves the prediction accuracy. This study shows that the dynamic, optimized LightGBM model outperformed all models with reasonable root-mean-square error and mean absolute error of 37.38 and 28.63, respectively.

We propose a threshold decision-making frame-work for controlling the physical dynamics of an agent switching between two spatial tasks. Our framework couples a nonlinear opinion dynamics model that represents the evolution of an agent's preference for a particular task with the physical dynamics of the agent. We prove the bifurcation that governs the behavior of the coupled dynamics. We show by means of the bifurcation behavior how the coupled dynamics are adaptive to the physical constraints of the agent. We also show how the bifurcation can be modulated to allow the agent to switch tasks based on thresholds adaptive to environmental conditions. We illustrate the benefits of the approach through a multi-robot task allocation application for trash collection.
