Detecting hate speech has become increasingly important for online communities. Despite emerging research to address the problem, more efforts are still needed to improve the performance of detection methods for the Arabic language. In this paper, we compare the performance of two Word2Vec models; the continuous bag of words (CBoW) and skip-gram using a dataset collected from multiple social media platforms; Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. We compared seven machine learning (ML) algorithms and measured their performance using different evaluation metrics. The CBoW model outperformed the skip-gram model in terms of accuracy. In addition, using a higher embedding dimensional value resulted in a better performance.

Semi-classical Signal Analysis (SCSA) is a signal representation algorithm utilizing the Schrödinger eigenvalue problem. The algorithm has found many applications, from signal processing to machine learning and denoising due to its adaptive and localized nature. So far, the algorithm's design parameter was tuned heuristically, without using the knowledge of the quantum mechanical principles residing in the SCSA formulation. In this work, we extend the SCSA framework by calculating the bounds of the reconstruction parameter. The derived bounds are effectively the sampling theorem for SCSA, which is of paramount importance for the application of the theory. Moreover, guidelines towards an optimal choice of the parameter are provided, eliminating the heuristic scanning step.

Efficient data detection and decoding are addressed under terahertz (THz)-band channel conditions and terabit-persecond (Tbps) baseband processing constraints. We investigate the performance and complexity tradeoffs of candidate data detectors in correlated ultra-massive multiple-input multiple-output (UM-MIMO) THz channels. Under high correlation, channel-matrix puncturing in subspace detectors can significantly reduce computational complexity and introduce much-needed parallelizability. Simulation results demonstrate that subspace detectors outperform conventional detectors in typical line-of-sight-dominated THz channel conditions. We advocate for a joint data detection and decoding framework that does not parallelize channel-code decoders to satisfy stringent Tbps baseband constraints but parallelizes data sources through channel puncturing and adopts short codes instead.

We report the effect of polyisoprene (PI) microstructure on the thermodynamics, viscoelasticity, and molecular dynamics, the latter via dielectric spectroscopy in bulk and during flow in cylindrical nanopores. A series of monodisperse PIs with microstructurescis-1,4,trans-1,4, 3,4, and 1,2 are synthesized via anionic polymerization using high-vacuum techniques using polar additives. In thermodynamics, we show that the liquid-to-glass temperature (Tg) decreases linearly with 1,4 units content asTg[K] = (289 ± 4)–0.9 ×w1,4%, whereas it increases quadratically with 3,4-units content asTg=Tg0%+(w3,4%)250[K]. Scaling of specific heats,cpglass,cpliquid,Tg, and the increment in specific heat atTg(Δcp) are established as a function of microstructure. In rheology, the zero-shear viscosity scales as η0= η0%×w1,4%–u, whereu= 5.4 ± 0.3. Despite this, the plateau modulus is independent of microstructure. All dielectrically active processes are strongly affected by microstructure. The dielectric strength of the β- and α-processes increases strongly with increasing 3,4-unit content, whereas that of the chain mode decreases precipitously. The calculated component of dipole moment along the polymer backbone scales with microstructure as μcis–1,4> μtrans–1,4> μ1,2> μ3,4≈ 0. The β-process shifts withTgand has characteristics of a Johari–Goldstein process with activation energies predicted by the coupling model. Lastly, we show that it is possible to separate blend components comprising different microstructures by the way of penetration within cylindrical nanopores, giving another example of what is known as “topology sorting.”

A key focus in smart grid research, especially within emerging distribution frameworks, is the effective management of energy resources. The proposed approach employs a multi-agent system to manage energy resources in interconnected smart buildings. The goal is to enhance resilience by determining the energy available for consumption or storage from the source by generating agent, adjusting energy usage in response to grid cost by load agent, and optimizing the supply-and-demand dynamic by storing surplus power during peak hours and discharging it during off-peak hours by storage agent. A MATLAB simulation-based model was developed to analyze five different cases, resulting in the proposed scheme. During off-peak hours, grid dependence decreases by 65.5 %, by 73.49 % during mid-peak hours, and by 85.9 % during peak hours, compared to the base case. When comparing case 3 to the base scenario, the share of energy imported by buildings from the main grid during off-peak, mid-peak, and peak hours is reduced to 69.8 %, 76.51 %, and 89.39 %, respectively, following the implementation of the deregulated market system. This paper presented a genetic algorithm in case 4 to optimize consumption patterns to minimize costs and achieve a 30 % reduction in consumption during peak hours. The resulting consumption decreases peak-hour grid imports by 85.4 % and 96.1 % for building 1 and building 3, respectively, compared to the base case. The findings of this study are useful in understanding the prospects of transforming the energy landscape through proper energy management and enabling a competitive energy market structure.

We prove that asymptotic global consensus is always reached in the Hegselmann-Krause model with finite speed of information propagation c > 0 under minimal (i.e., necessary) assumptions on the influence function. The lensless endoscope represents the ultimate limit in miniaturization of imaging tools: an image can be transmitted by numerical or physical inversion of the mode scrambling process through a bare optical fiber. Lensless endoscopes featuring multicore fibers and spatial light modulators are well adapted for nonlinear imaging as they minimally distort ultrashort pulses in the time domain as opposed to multimode fibers [1]. And in earlier works, we had addressed the issues of imaging artifacts and bending sensitivity with an helically twisted multicore fiber with a sparse and aperiodic core layout in the transverse plane [2]. However sufficiently irradiating the sample plane remained a major challenge - particularly for the imaging of dim and challenging samples such as neurons in scattering media.

Classification of high-dimensional low sample size (HDLSS) data poses a challenge in a variety of real-world situations, such as gene expression studies, cancer research, and medical imaging. This article presents the development and analysis of some classifiers that are specifically designed for HDLSS data. These classifiers are free of tuning parameters and are robust, in the sense that they are devoid of any moment conditions of the underlying data distributions. It is shown that they yield perfect classification in the HDLSS asymptotic regime, under some fairly general conditions. The comparative performance of the proposed classifiers is also investigated. Our theoretical results are supported by extensive simulation studies and real data analysis, which demonstrate promising advantages of the proposed classification techniques over several widely recognized methods. © 2023, CC BY.

Denial-of-service (DoS) attacks are a major concern in the field of Internet technology, and they pose a difficult security challenge. Among the different types of DoS attacks, distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks are especially concerning because they can quickly drain the resources of a target, disrupting their computational and communication capabilities without warning. In response to the severity of this problem, various defense strategies have been developed to defend against DDoS attacks. In this paper, a survey on the various DDoS attacks detection schemes is presented. An overview of the DDoS attack methodology is given. The information on different types of DDoS detection methods in SDN environment is also provided. Then a comparative study of different DDoS attack detection schemes is given, which contains the comparisons of different schemes in terms of their advantages, limitations, accuracy values, and time complexity.
