This paper introduces an alternative technique for diagnosing Acute Ischemic Stroke within the IoMT environment. In the proposed approach, the collected data is transmitted to a cloud-based center where the technique utilizes EfficientNet, a deep learning model, designed to extract features from MRI images thereby enhancing the detection of acute ischemic infarctions. The performance of EfficientNet is compared against two other models, CNN and MobileNet, demonstrating its superior efficacy through metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score, which stand at 92.31%, 92.28%, 92.33%, and 92.30%, respectively. © 2024 IEEE.

This study introduced a capacitive sensing interactive game platform aimed at promoting emotional stability, which we have named the 'Sunrise and Sunset' game. This game primarily consists of two pieces of regular textile fabric enveloping conductive silver fabric. A microcontroller was employed to extract the sensed capacitive values, and a game named 'Sunrise and Sunset' is designed to complement the slow raising and lowering of both hands. The development of this gaming platform has the potential to offer a novel method of emotional management, particularly in high-stress living environments. It can serve as an effective relaxation tool, aiding individuals in emotional balance, anxiety reduction, and stress alleviation. Simultaneously, this platform can contribute to the promotion of mental well-being, providing an engaging and beneficial means for people to manage their emotions and moods. © 2024 IEEE.

The swift progression of industrial technology underscores the need for adept professionals capable of skillfully implementing and managing intricate systems. Vocational education assumes a pivotal role in cultivating competent intermediaries proficient in translating theoretical knowledge into practical applications. At the core of industrial automation lies the program.able Logic Controller (PLC), a specialized digital computer that interfaces with sensors, switches, and actuators to execute real-time control program., thus facilitating meticulous industrial processes. This study concentrates on the practical deployment of a two-floor elevator system utilizing the OMRON CP1E N30 PLC. Elevators, integral to contemporary structures, mandate precision for secure vertical conveyance. Leveraging input signals from elevator buttons, sensors, and switches, the PLC orchestrates efficient motor control and dependable door operations. This hands-on application underscores the PLC's significance within real-time control contexts. Nonetheless, Vocational Higher Education graduates frequently grapple with the challenge of transitioning to industry settings due to limited practical exposure. This partnership harmonizes with the center's objective of enriching vocational education by integrating sophisticated technologies like PLCs, equipping the workforce with the acumen to bridge the gap between theoretical foundations and the pragmatic demands of industry. © 2023 IEEE.

In this work, we demonstrated upconversion imagers integrated with shortwave infrared photodetectors paired with an electron blocking layer. The use of electron blocking layer screened charge injection to prevent recombination in photosensitive layer. The characteristics of each electron blocking layer were analyzed in aspects of noise and detectivity. For the optimized device, the parasitic luminance in the dark was efficiently suppressed, and the photon-to-photon efficiency was increased. The electron blocking layer used in this work is generally applicable for upconversion imagers using different absorption and emitting materials. © 2023 IEEE.

Graph-based data present unique challenges and opportunities for machine learning. Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), and especially those algorithms that capture graph topology through message passing for neighborhood aggregation, have been a leading solution. However, these networks often require substantial computational resources and may not optimally leverage the information contained in the graph's topology, particularly for large-scale or complex *** propose Topology Coordinate Neural Network (TCNN) and Directional Virtual Coordinate Neural Network (DVCNN) as novel and efficient alternatives to message passing GNNs, that directly leverage the graph's topology, sidestepping the computational challenges presented by competing algorithms. Our proposed methods can be viewed as a reprise of classic techniques for graph embedding for neural network feature engineering, but they are novel in that our embedding techniques leverage ideas in Graph Coordinates (GC) that are lacking in current *** results, benchmarked against the Open Graph Benchmark Leaderboard, demonstrate that TCNN and DVCNN achieve competitive or superior performance to message passing GNNs. For similar levels of accuracy and ROC-AUC, TCNN and DVCNN need far fewer trainable parameters than contenders of the OGBN Leaderboard. The proposed TCNN architecture requires fewer parameters than any neural network method currently listed in the OGBN Leaderboard for both OGBN-Proteins and OGBN-Products datasets. Conversely, our methods achieve higher performance for a similar number of trainable parameters. These results hold across diverse datasets and edge features, underscoring the robustness and generalizability of our methods. By providing an efficient and effective alternative to message passing GNNs, our work expands the toolbox of techniques for graph-based machine learning. This paper describes the automation of a forearm prosthesis using the signal collected by a Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensor. The FBG sensor is applied to one subject's forearm to measure the deformation as a result of the index and middle fingers when moved individually. It is possible to control a one joint model prosthesis allied to a compliant hand mechanism through signal analyses. Each finger movement has its features, such as its amplitude, which opens the possibility of using those to control different parts of the prosthesis, joint rotation by the middle finger, and compliant hand movement by the index finger. This paper presents results regarding prosthesis assembling, Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) communication latency between prosthesis and computer and tests with pre-acquired and processed FBG signal data. The prosthesis wrist rotation movement is related to the middle finger signal, and its compliant mechanism actuation is due to index finger signal. The communication between prosthesis and the computer had a mean latency of 140 ms and a standard deviation of 18 ms. The results demonstrate the potential for using the sensor system and automated prosthesis in other applications involving real-time forearm sensing, multi-finger signal analysis, and prosthetic movement. © 2023 SBMO/SBMag.

SFA-Net: A Selective Features Absorption Network for Object Detection in Rainy Weather Conditions

In recent years, object detection approaches using deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have derived major advances in normal images. However, such success is hardly achieved with rainy images due to lack of visibility. Aiming to bridge this gap, in this article, we present a novel selective features absorption network (SFA-Net) to improve the performance of object detection not only in rainy weather conditions but also in favorable weather conditions. SFA-Net accomplishes this objective by utilizing three subnetworks, where the feature selection subnetwork is concatenated with the object detection subnetwork through the feature absorption subnetwork to form a unified model. To promote further advancement in object detection impaired by rain, we propose a large-scale rainy image dataset, named srRain, which contains both synthetic rainy images and real-world rainy images for training and testing purposes. srRain is comprised of 25 900 rainy images depicting diverse driving scenarios in the presence of rain with a total of 181 164 instances interpreting five common object categories. Experimental results display that our SFA-Net reaches the highest mean average precision (mAP) of 77.53% on a normal image set, 62.52% on a synthetic rainy image set, 37.34% on a collected natural rainy image set, and 32.86% on a published real rainy image set, surpassing current state-of-the-art object detectors and the combination of image deraining and object detection models while retaining a high speed. © 2012 IEEE.

Stroke is a neurological syndrome that may cause severe cognitive and motor impairments for survival. Alternative rehabilitation techniques have been developed to recover lower-limb movements and gait of post-stroke patients, such as Motor Imagery (MI)-based Brain-computer Interfaces (BCIs), Virtual Reality (VR), and robotic devices. Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) is a non-invasive technique to stimulate the brain and modulate cortical excitability. This study aims to analyze the short-term effects of tDCS compared to sham stimulation before a lower-limb MI-BCI pedaling training (through a robotic monocycle) task in a patient with subacute stroke. We studied a post-stroke patient with 2 months of ischemic stroke and right hemiparesis who was submitted to the following tasks: active pedaling, sham tDCS and MI-BCI, and tDCS and MI-BCI. Antenna-on-Chip (AoC) is one of the most promising solutions in upcoming 6G era. However, AoC suffers from low gain usually due to the highly conductive silicon substrate in mainstream complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) processes. Artificial magnetic conductors (AMC) embedded within the stack-up of standard CMOS processes have been widely used to enhance the gain by isolating the AoC from the Si substrate and providing constructive reflection. Nonetheless, the ultra-thin stack-up of standard CMOS processes causes that only the AMC unit cells nearby the AoC can be illuminated well while the outermost part is illuminated poorly, which prevents the AMC from its optimal reflection performance. To mitigate the issue, this paper proposes a novel via-based magnetic coupling enhancement structures (H-CES- V) to improve the AMC illumination by coupling the energy from well-illuminated unit cells to outermost unit cells magnetically. Compared to conventional AMC, the gain can be improved by 1.5 dBi with the proposed structure. Finally, the proposed AMC-backed AoC with H-CES- V shows a boresight gain of 7 dBi (12 dBi better than a standalone AoC without AMC), and a radiation efficiency of 59 % at 94 GHz.

Currently, the performance of the police in Indonesia is often in the spotlight of the public with cases that occur, both on a national and regional scale, including personal experiences who also feel disappointed with the performance of the police. The cases, such as the rape of three children by a biological father in East Luwu, and the barrage of other cases that have occurred, in their handling have left the public disappointed, giving rise to the hashtag percumlaporpolisi on social media, especially on twitter. This hashtag became trending and was widely responded to by the public. Using free hashtag keywords, tweet data is collected using Twitter's API for sentiment analysis. The datasets obtained from the crawling results is the latest data with a total of 100 datasets. This study applies the naïve bayes algorithm using textblob which aims to determine the value of polarity and subjectivity. From the results of the analysis carried out, the words that appear most often are useless police, police chief, and policeman. While the results of the sentiment analysis that has been carried out are 40 percent positive sentiment, 40 percent are neutral sentiment and 10 percent are negative sentiment from the hashtags used. From these results, according to the keywords used, the percentage of negative sentiment should be greater than positive and neutral sentiment. It is necessary to conduct a more in-depth study related to the model used in the next research. © 2023 IEEE.
