Penghu Islands (Pescadores), Taiwan's outlying islands surrounded by the sea, boast rich fishing resources that attract many anglers. However, successful fishing requires more than just gear: it involves understanding the varying fish species available in different locations, times, and climates, as well as adhering to relevant laws and regulations. To address these needs, this paper proposes an environmentally friendly fishing Android-based mobile device App specifically for the Penghu Islands. The proposed Android-based mobile device App aims to gather essential information, including local fishing regulations, aquatic safety tips, and important precautions. Its goal is to equip fishermen with the resources necessary to fish successfully and with peace of mind.

Solar energy is environmentally friendly energy and is available in large quantities. The energy produced is commonly converted into electricity by using solar panel (PV) systems for utilization. PV systems are generally located in open areas such as hillsides, deserts, and water surfaces, so they become more sensitive against lightning strikes. Commonly, the PV is equipped with a lightning protection system (LPS). This paper discusses the grounding system at the solar power center (PLTS) Weh Island, Sabang City. Evaluation and comparison under certain conditions are carried out through measurements, calculations, and simulations. The grounding system is modeled for one rod, four rods in parallel, and plate rod. The measurement process during field observations and the induce voltage simulation are carried out to get the results of the analysis calculations. The result obtained shows that the grounding system fulfills the PUIL standard, namely being smaller than 5 Ω. When using plate electrodes, the resistance value is greater than that of rod electrodes. So that the lower conductor can be more resistant and easier to maintain. Improving the quality of the protection system, this research is used as a reference to evaluate LPS conditions in PV fields. © 2023 IEEE.

In Indonesia, the majority of blindness cases, approximately 81%, are attributed to cataract. Additionally, 35% of the population has higher cholesterol levels than the standard normal range. The lack of specialized medical equipment, such as the slit-lamp (Ruparelia in Dalhousie Med J 49(1), [1]) bio-microscope, and trained professionals, especially in rural areas, make it difficult to detect these conditions through eye examinations. To address this issue, a supervised machine learning method, the Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), has been utilized to create an iris scanner system that can identify cataract and high cholesterol in a patient. This system will classify eyes into three categories, i.e., cataract, high cholesterol, and normal iris. The computer simulations indicate that this technique is more accurate and requires less training time compared to the existing Convolutional Neural Network (ANN) and Siamese Neural Network (SNN)-based method, while achieving 100% accuracy. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The diagnosis of faults in grid-connected photovoltaic (GCPV) systems is a challenging task due to their complex nature and the high similarity between faults. To address this issue, we propose a wrapper approach called the salp swarm algorithm (SSA) for feature selection. The main objective of SSA is to extract only the most important features from the raw data and eliminate unnecessary ones to improve the classification accuracy of supervised machine learning (SML) classifiers. Subsequently, the selected features are used to train supervised machine learning (SML) techniques in distinguishing between various operating modes. To evaluate the efficiency of the technique, we used healthy and faulty data from GCPV systems that have been injected with frequent faults, 20 different types of faults were introduced, including line-to-line, line-to-ground, connectivity faults, and those affecting the operation of bay-pass diodes. These faults present diverse conditions, such as simple and multiple faults in the PV arrays and mixed faults in both arrays. The performances of the developed SSA-SML are compared with those using principal component analysis (PCA) and kernel PCA (KPCA) based SML techniques through different criteria (i.e., accuracy, recall, precision, F1 score, and computation time). The experimental findings demonstrated that the proposed diagnosis paradigm outperformed the other techniques and achieved a high diagnostic accuracy (an average accuracy greater than 99%) while significantly reducing computation time. © 2023, The Author(s).

An accurate predictive model of temperature and humidity plays a vital role in many industrial processes that utilize a closed space such as in agriculture and building management. With the exceptional performance of deep learning on time-series data, developing a predictive temperature and humidity model with deep learning is propitious. In this study, we demonstrated that deep learning models with multivariate time-series data produce remarkable performance for temperature and relative humidity prediction in a closed space. In detail, all deep learning models that we developed in this study achieve almost perfect performance with an R value over 0.99. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

Density Functional Theory Study of Surface Stability and Phase Diagram of Orthorhombic CsPbI3

CsPbI3 has been recognized as a promising candidate for optoelectronic device applications. To further improve the efficiency of the devices, it is imperative to better understand the surface properties of CsPbI3, which affect charge carrier transport and defect formation properties. In this study, we perform density functional theory calculations to explore the stability of the (001), (110), and (100) surfaces of orthorhombic CsPbI3, considering different stoichiometries and surface reconstructions. Our results show that, under the chemical potentials confined by the thermodynamically stable region of bulk CsPbI3, the CsI-terminated surfaces of (001) and (110) and the stoichiometric surface of (100) are stable. Among these three surfaces, the CsI-terminated (110) surface has the lowest surface energy and no mid-gap states, which benefits the transport properties of the material. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

This paper conducts a comprehensive analysis of electrical generator performance using Finite Element Analysis (FEA), with a specific emphasis on the role of coil numbers in influencing generator efficiency and functionality. In the context of modern energy systems, where efficient power generation is paramount, this research aims to elucidate the relationship between the number of coils within a generator and its overall performance, including power output and electromagnetic behavior. Through systematic FEA simulations that vary coil numbers while keeping other parameters constant, this study provides valuable insights into the trade-offs associated with increased coil numbers and enhanced efficiency. These findings have significant implications for optimizing generator designs across various applications, from renewable energy systems to industrial power generation, ultimately advancing our understanding of generator dynamics and contributing to more sustainable and efficient power generation technologies. © 2023 IEEE.

With the rapid advancement of electronic textiles, the design and integration of connectors have emerged as pivotal challenges. This study emphasizes the development of a connection solution that amalgamates miniaturization, efficiency, and reliability, specifically tailored for Flexible Conductive Silicone Circuits. A diversified connection scheme is proposed, incorporating elements such as snaps, Pogo pins, and conductive hook-and-loop fasteners, thereby achieving an innovative and pragmatic design. Through meticulous manufacturing processes, including the utilization of hot-melt adhesive, PET films, conductive fabric, and other multilayer materials, a connection system with low impedance and commendable conductivity was successfully engineered. Impedance test outcomes have indicated that the resistance at each connection point is less than 0.7 ohms, substantiating its superior electrical properties. In terms of assembly, this research demonstrates the precise interconnection of the controller and conductive fabric circuit, ensured by metal pin technology, leading to connection stability. This solution not only furnishes appropriate connection technology for specific application scenarios but also opens new avenues and directions for connection design within the domain of electronic textiles. © 2024 IEEE.

Normality Addition via Normality Detection in Industrial Image Anomaly Detection Models

The task of image anomaly detection (IAD) aims to identify deviations from normality in image data. These anomalies are patterns that deviate significantly from what the IAD model has learned from the data during training. However, in real-world scenarios, the criteria for what constitutes normality often change, necessitating the reclassification of previously anomalous instances as normal. To address this challenge, we propose a new scenario termed "normality addition," involving the post-training adjustment of decision boundaries to incorporate new normalities. To address this challenge, we propose a method called Normality Addition via Normality Detection (NAND), leveraging a vision-language model. NAND performs normality detection which detect patterns related to the intended normality within images based on textual descriptions. We then modify the results of a pre-trained IAD model to implement this normality addition. Using the benchmark dataset in IAD, MVTec AD, we establish an evaluation protocol for the normality addition task and empirically demonstrate the effectiveness of the NAND method.
