Sales of insurance are collected monthly or yearly as statistics which most insurance companies haven’t estimated the sales for the next year. The current sales of insurance make it difficult to evaluate the market and organize various campaigns for customers. Therefore, this research has collected sales of life insurance from the website of the Office of Insurance Commission from the year 2018 - 2022. The forecasting of sales for life insurance using 4 forecasting methods which are Holt Winters' Additive, Holt Winters' Multiplicative, Simple Exponential Smoothing, and Double Exponential Smoothing. These forecasting methods are used to forecast insurance premiums one year ahead from the year 2021. The computation of total sales for 3 insurance types which are Primary-General, Primary, and Additional found that the Holt Winters' Multiplicative method is the best forecasting method with an accuracy percentage for forecasting methods of 97.56%.

Foreign Exchange market is the world's largest daily currency turnover. Two of the popular currencies Euro and Pound sterling traded against the US Dollar. Since the Russia and Ukraine war started in February 2022, their exchange rates decrease to the lowest rate ever. Even though the general trend is bearish, several daily candles increase for some days making challenges for forex analysts. To solve this problem, classification is applied. The data is labeled downward and upward. By utilizing Linear Kernel and Radial Basis Function (RBF) Kernel-based Support Vector Machines (SVM), the candle direction can be classified and optimized by tuning the Hyperparameters. The accuracy of candle direction classifications are highly improved. After tuning, in general, classification using Linear Models can outperform RBF Models. The best accuracy found on the Pound sterling against US Dollar by using the Linear model is 98.11% and the accuracy becomes 100% on data testing at a ratio of 70:30. Whilst for the Euro against the US Dollar, the best accuracy found the same for both Linear and RBF models on a ratio of 80:20 at 97.53%. However, on data testing, it decreases to 94.51% for Linear Model and 93.41% using RBF Model. The implication of this study is SVM can successfully classify candle direction on pairs in the Forex Market that are affected by a big event that comes for such a long period as long as the hyperparameter is tuned. © 2022 IEEE.

False data injection attacks (FDIAs) on smart power grids’ measurement data present a threat to system stability. When malicious entities launch cyberattacks to manipulate the measurement data, different grid components will be affected, which leads to failures. For effective attack mitigation, two tasks are required: determining the status of the system (normal operation/under attack) and localizing the attacked bus/power substation. Existing mitigation techniques carry out these tasks separately and offer limited detection performance. In this paper, we propose a multi-task learning-based approach that performs both tasks simultaneously using a graph neural network (GNN) with stacked convolutional Chebyshev graph layers. Our results show that the proposed model presents superior system status identification and attack localization abilities with detection rates of 98.5−100% and 99 − 100%, respectively, presenting improvements of 5 − 30% compared to benchmarks.

We present light extraction efficiency (LEE) improvement for InGaN red micro-light emitting diodes (micro-LEDs) of various sizes operating at low current densities. We compared the characteristics of micro-LEDs with indium tin oxide (ITO) transparent p-electrodes with conventional opaque metal p-electrodes. 50 µm × 50 µm micro-LEDs with ITO p-electrodes achieved a peak on-wafer external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 2.54% with an emission wavelength of 640 nm at a current density as low as 0.4 A/cm 2 . This represents a 1.18-fold improvement in peak EQE compared to devices with metal p-electrodes. Light ray tracing simulation confirmed that the ITO p-electrodes exhibit 1.18 times higher light escape than metal-based micro-LEDs, validating the role of enhanced light extraction. These findings provide valuable insights for advancing high-definition display and VR applications.

Recent research has shown that a small perturbation to an input may forcibly change the prediction of a machine learning (ML) model. Such variants are commonly referred to as adversarial examples. Early studies have focused mostly on ML models for image processing and expanded to other applications, including those for malware classification. In this article, we focus on the problem of finding adversarial examples against ML-based portable document format (PDF) malware *** deem that our problem is more challenging than those againstMLmodels for image processing because of the highly complex data structure of PDF and of an additional constraint that the generated PDF should exhibit malicious behavior. To resolve our problem, we propose a variant of generative adversarial networks that generate evasive variant PDF malware (without any crash), which can be classified as benign by various existing classifiers yetmaintaining the original malicious behavior. Our model exploits the target classifier as the second discriminator to rapidly generate an evasive variant PDF with our new feature selection process that includes unique features extracted from malicious PDF files. We evaluate our technique against three representative PDF malware classifiers (Hidost 13, Hidost 16, and PDFrate-v2) and further examine its effectiveness with AntiVirus engines from VirusTotal. To the best of our knowledge, our work is the first to analyze the performance against the commercial AntiVirus engines. Our model finds, with great speed, evasive variants for all selected seeds against state-of-The-Art PDF malware classifiers and raises a serious security concern in the presence of adversaries. © 2021 Institute of electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc.. Solar energy is environmentally friendly energy and is available in large quantities. The energy produced is commonly converted into electricity by using solar panel (PV) systems for utilization. PV systems are generally located in open areas such as hillsides, deserts, and water surfaces, so they become more sensitive against lightning strikes. Commonly, the PV is equipped with a lightning protection system (LPS). This paper discusses the grounding system at the solar power center (PLTS) Weh Island, Sabang City. Evaluation and comparison under certain conditions are carried out through measurements, calculations, and simulations. The grounding system is modeled for one rod, four rods in parallel, and plate rod. The measurement process during field observations and the induce voltage simulation are carried out to get the results of the analysis calculations. The result obtained shows that the grounding system fulfills the PUIL standard, namely being smaller than $5 \Omega$. When using plate electrodes, the resistance value is greater than that of rod electrodes. So that the lower conductor can be more resistant and easier to maintain. Improving the quality of the protection system, this research is used as a reference to evaluate LPS conditions in PV fields.

Hypertension is a noncommunicable disease (NCD) that causes global concern, high costs and a high number of deaths. Internet of Things, Ubiquitous Computing, and Cloud Computing enable the development of systems for remote and real-time monitoring of patients affected with NCDs like hypertension. This paper reports on a system for monitoring hypertension patients that was built by employing these techniques. This system allows the vital signs of a patient (blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature) to be captured via sensors built in a wearable device similar to a wristwatch. These signals are transmitted to the patient's mobile device for processing, and the generated clinical data are sent to the cloud to be properly presented and analysed by the health professionals responsible for the patient. To deal with semantic interoperability issues that arise when multiple different devices and system components must interoperate, a semantic model was conceived for this system in terms of ontologies for diseases and devices. This paper also presents the semantic module that we developed and implemented in the cloud to perform reasoning based on this model, demonstrating the potential benefits of incorporating semantic technologies in our system. The use of long short-term memory models to estimate soybean pricing: a regional climate data evaluation from Brazil

This work uses machine learning methods to analyze the influence of the Brazilian climate on international soybean price variability. For this purpose, climatic data, historical series of the extended national consumer price index, dollar price historical series, soybean harvest historical series, and international soybean price historical series are collected from different data sources. The data is then preprocessed and grouped by state. Afterward, data from the five most productive Brazilian states, Mato Grosso (MT), Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), Goiás (GO), Paraná (PR), and Rio Grande do Sul (RS), which together correspond to 74.9% of total production, are chosen. Then, predictive models were built using the long short-term memory (LSTM) method, which is applied to each state dataset considering two different settings: with and without climatic data. Thus, two models were built for each Brazilian state, totaling ten predictors. These models are evaluated using 10-fold sequential split cross-validation, whose predictive results are used for performance comparison through statistical hypothesis testing. In the experimental evaluation, when trained with climatic data, the PR model achieved the lowest average values of root mean squared error (RMSE) and mean absolute error (MAE), which are 20.90 and 16.72, respectively. Regarding predictors trained without climate data, the RS and PR obtained the lowest averaged values of RMSE (20.84) and MAE (16.81), respectively. After performing statistical hypothesis tests, no significant differences were found between the models, stating, with certainty 95%, that the Brazilian climatic data did not influence soybean prices in our study. © 2013 IEEE.

The You Only Learn One Representation (YOLOR) approach is an object detector that can encode implicit knowledge and explicit knowledge of multiple tasks simultaneously. However, the requirement of jointly feeding data is not a friendly setting for an edge device due to the high computational cost. A better strategy is to learn the concept of the new task on the device individually, one by one, without access to the old data. In other words, the model has to deal with multiple tasks asynchronously. In this work, we extend the multi-purpose network YOLOR to asynchronous multi-task learning to learn domain invariant features, which focus on capturing the relatedness between the weight of the previous task and data of the subsequent task. Further, as the number of tasks gradually increases, we accumulate significant weights by introducing task-specific masks and expert modules;the former can automatically identify important filters to prevent modification caused by new tasks, and the latter address the kernel space misalignment problem to perform multi-task feature selection. We experimentally demonstrate that the proposed training strategy significantly outperforms the traditional solution in learning multiple tasks at different times on a public dataset, which supports that the proposed approach is more competitive for resource-limited edge devices. © 2023 IEEE.
