The addition of Covid-19 cases is still uncontrolled, especially in Indonesia. Often the addition of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia always experiences a significant upward trend after a slightly loose government policy. This is because the government does not think there will be a spike in cases after cases go down. This is where the importance of predicting new cases of Covid-19 in Indonesia to be a reference for the government in taking policy. With deep learning, the prediction results will be more accurate. The implementation of vector autoregression (VAR) and long-short term memory (LSTM) methods can reach an accretion rate of up to 98%. With this method, the prediction results can be used for the government in anticipating if there is a surge in new cases per day because it has been predicted from the beginning. In fact, this method can predict new cases for up to a year. © 2021 IEEE.

Distributed Energy Resources (DER) aid to an electrical grid in more implicit ways beyond just supplying of power. During High Impact (HI) events caused by weather disruptions, when the grid is in a reduced state of operation, significant presence of DERs has been found to mitigate further impacts to the system. Grid operators who benefit from having DERs in their system save on system recovery costs that can be redirected back to the prosumers who contribute through DER. In this work, a methodology is introduced to value the ancillary benefits provided by the DERs during a HI event, that can be used to compensate the prosumers. The proposed method is tested on a test system with high wind energy generation, where rooftop solar PV acts as the DER, and the validity of the results are explored. The method is further expanded to include all probable variations of HI events and quantify the value of a location acting as a DER host.

In this study,the gravitational deflection angle of photons in the weak field limit(or the weak deflection angle)and shadow cast by the electrically charged and spherically symmetric static Kiselev black hole(BH)in the string cloud background are *** influences of the BH charge Q,quintessence parameterγ,and string cloud parameter a on the weak deflection angle are studied using the Gauss-Bonnet *** addition to studying the influences on the radius of photon spheres and size of the BH shadow in the spacetime geometry of the chargedKiselev BH in string ***,we study the effects of plasma(uniform and non-uniform)on the weak deflection angle and shadow cast by the charged-Kiselev BH surrounded by the clouds of *** the presence of a uniform/nonuniform plasma medium,an increase in the string cloud parameter a increases the deflection angleα.In contrast,a decrease in the BH charge Q decreases the deflection ***,we observe that an increase in the BH charge Q causes a decrease in the size of the shadow of the *** notice that,with an increase in the values of the parametersγand a,the size of the BH shadow increases,and therefore,the intensity of the gravitational field around the charged-Kiselev BH in string clouds ***,the gravitational field of the charged-Kiselev BH in the string cloud background is stronger than the field produced by the pure Reissner-Nordstrom ***,we use the data released by the Event Horizon Telescope(EHT)collaboration,for the supermassive BHs M87*and Sgr A*,to obtain constraints on the values of the parametersγand a.

In response to China’s new“people-oriented urbanization”strategy,investigating the current integration situation of rural-to-urban migrants(RUMs)in cities is ***,existing studies have not focused on their subjective willingness and adaptive ***,the mechanism of RUMs’urban integration has not been fully *** conceptual framework of vulnerability,which originated from the discipline of natural hazards,is perfectly constructive to address these *** consists of three main components,including exposure,sensitivity,and adaptive *** index has been constructed and calculated by combining the analytic hierarchy process(AHP)and Delphi *** spatial pattern of vulnerability level is also analyzed with geographic information system(GIS).Furthermore,the underlying mechanism of vulnerability and its associated factors are investigated with the principle component *** major conclusions are ***,the vulnerability level of the RUMs to social exclusion presents a heterogeneous pattern between inland and coastal cities in Shandong ***,while the exposure and sensitivity level of each city correlate spatially with the vulnerability level,RUMs’adaptive capacity further moderates ***,the level of urban development is revealed to be a key factor influencing *** study offers meaningful references to promote inclusive urbanization and sustainable urban development.

A linear fiber laser system for measurements of paracetamol concentration is experimentally demonstrated. The cavity is based on a fiber loop mirror and an FBG centered at 1567.8 nm. The sensing head corresponds to a refractometric sensor, whose which principle of operation is based on Fresnel reflection in the fiber tip (FBG side). The system works at detected variations of paracetamol concentrations with a sensitivity of $[(8.74\pm 0.34)\times 10^{-5}]\ \ \mu \mathrm{W}/(\mathrm{g}/\text{kg})$ and a resolution of 2.77 g/kg. The results prove that the fiber laser system could be an asset for processing industries, specifically for non-invasive and real-time measurements of concentration.

Enabling High-Precision 5G mmWave-Based Positioning for Autonomous Vehicles in Dense Urban Environments

5G-based mmWave wireless positioning has emerged as a promising solution for autonomous vehicle (AV) positioning in recent years. Previous studies have highlighted the benefits of fusing a line-of-sight (LoS) 5G positioning solution with an Inertial Navigation System (INS) for an improved positioning solution. However, the highly dynamic environment of urban areas, where AVs are expected to operate, poses a challenge, as non-line-of-sight (NLoS) communication can deteriorate the 5G mmWave positioning solution and lead to erroneous corrections to the INS. To address this challenge, we exploit 5G multipath and LoS signals to improve positioning performance in dense urban environments. In addition, we integrate the proposed 5G-based positioning with low-cost onboard motion sensors (OBMS). Moreover, the integration is realized using an unscented Kalman filter (UKF) as an alternative to the widely utilized EKF as a fusion engine to avoid ignoring the higher-order and non-linear terms of the dynamic system model. We also introduce techniques to evaluate the quality of each LoS and multipath measurement prior to incorporation into the filter’s correction stage. To validate the proposed methodologies, we performed two test trajectories in the dense urban environment of downtown Toronto, Canada. For each trajectory, quasi-real 5G measurements were collected using a ray-tracing tool incorporating 3D map scans of real-world buildings, allowing for realistic multipath scenarios. For the same trajectories, real OBMS data were collected from two-different low-cost IMUs. Our integrated positioning solution was capable of maintaining a level of accuracy below 30 cm for approximately 97% of the time, which is superior to the accuracy level achieved when multipath signals are not considered, which is only around 91% of the time. © 2023, CC BY.

in a 115 kV switchyard substation, there are several major equipment that are gradually deteriorated due to ageing and degradation. Those equipment are one of the important element in a power generating utility to supply the reliable electricity to diverse customers. Therefore, their failures would cause catastrophic consequences and lead to long outage time. Thus, the need for condition and performance assessments of those switchyard equipment for life extension purposes is obligatory to ensure system reliability, to meet customer requirements and to optimize the investment cost. To access the condition of such high voltage equipment, protective relays, building structure and equipment foundations, their technical specification as well as visual inspection and preventive maintenance results of individual equipment must be systematically analyzed to determine the possibility for life extension according to manufacturer guideline as well as international standards and recommendations for condition aging assessment representing in term of conditional aging index. While the other aspects as age, rating adequacy, technology obsolescence, satisfaction in operation, failure rate and defect severity are required to determine the need for renovation/replacement known as replacement index. Then, the proposed methodology has been employed to assess the condition and performance of each equipment such as every major high voltage equipment, control building, protective relays in a switchyard of power station with satisfactory result.

This article presents a study on the effectiveness of electrocoagulation (EC) for the removal of azo dyes from wastewater. The analysis was performed using a combination of statistical methods, including density estimation, correlation analysis, and deep learning for electrocoagulation performance prediction. The results showed that electrocoagulation was able to effectively remove azo dyes from the wastewater, considering the energy consumption and the mass of flocs being important factors in the process. Deep Learning (DL) is used to build our predictive model using the datasets collected during the experimentation stage. Overall, the findings suggest that electrocoagulation is a promising technique for the treatment of wastewater containing azo dyes, and that the use of statistical and machine learning methods can aid in the optimization of the process.

Independent mobility is an important feature of an individual's normal life and with the elderly population continually growing, assistive devices such as walkers and canes provide help and guidance to users. Freezing of Gait (FoG) is an episodic phenomenon that is a common symptom of an age-related disease known as Parkinson Disease (PD). This paper is headed toward implementing a detection, diagnosis and correction system for FoG episodes. The proposed cane will generate visual, auditory and tactile cues to help patients overcome this problem, therefore reducing fall risks. In addition, a vibrating calf cuff will be attached to the calf for muscle stimulation. A compatible android phone application is designed to display heart rate measurements of the patient as well as his exact location in case of fall detection. The system is considered to be an electrically safe, portable, comfortable and a low-cost device. The performance of this system is analyzed thoroughly and the accuracy of all methodologies is considered carefully and evaluated. The results have shown no faulty errors and good accuracy and detection percentages. © 2021 IEEE.

Irregular warfare in strategic competition

After two decades of counterinsurgency and counterterrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq, the US military has shifted to preparing for large-scale combat operations. However, it would be a mistake to discard hard-earned lessons from these conflicts. Despite contemporary advances in technology and important differences between current US competitors and the Soviet Union, irregular warfare will play a prominent role in the new era of strategic competition. It was a prominent form of US-Soviet competition during the Cold War, is already used extensively by the United States and its competitors and remains attractive given concerns about escalation between nuclear-armed powers. Given the continued relevance of irregular warfare, we focus on two main lessons from the US experience. First, since irregular warfare is about influencing populations and achieving political goals without large-scale combat operations, influencing and working alongside the partner is the primary mission. The second lesson follows directly from the first;if irregular warfare is ultimately about achieving policy goals with an economy of military force, IW is a team sport requiring joint and interagency collaboration to be effectively implemented. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
