In this study, the topology of a multi-input high-gain non-isolated power converter is suggested. Within this converter, techniques involving voltage multiplier cells and a coupling inductor are utilized. It is possible to use switches that have low voltage stress and, as a result, low conductivity by combining these two methodologies. For applications dealing with clean energy, like green electrical power for public hospitals and etc., that consider a specific type of energy storage system, this particular configuration is an excellent choice. First, the charging performance of the energy storage system is explained, and then, for the design of the multi-input non-isolated power converter with a high voltage gain, the configuration and functionality of the proposed converter are fully investigated. This is accomplished so that the multi-input non-isolated converter can have high voltage gain. The correct operation of the converter is demonstrated through the presentation of a detailed design method, and numerical outcomes are shown for a variety of modes in which the converter can operate effectively. Eventually, to guarantee that the simulation outcomes are accurate, an experimental prototype of the proposed converter has been produced in a laboratory, and the results of the simulation have been validated with those obtained in practice. © 2023 IEEE.

Recent high impact low frequency events have caused significant concerns on reliability and resiliency of electrical grid. Transmission operators might enforce load curtailment during such events to preserve the integrity of the power network and to prevent catastrophic system failures and long-lasting outages. Although load-shedding procedures employed by system operators are reviewed and constraints are highlighted throughout most hazardous incidents, such mechanisms are not evaluated to ensure consumer fairness and system impacts are addressed. This study was conducted at the transmission level in order to propose a new curtailment algorithm that addresses the limitations of the load shedding mechanism of the Southwest Power Pool. The study was motivated by the North American winter storm occurred in February 2021. The performance of the proposed algorithm is tested and compared with Southwest Power Pool's curtailment model via IEEE RTS-96 test system.

As a popular topic, indoor positioning has gradually drawn the attention of both academia and business. Numerous location based services including healthcare, repository tracking, and security call for accurate estimation. An accurate estimation might be achieved by using additional location-sensing equipment, but this is not generally done because it would result in expensive brand specialization. A flexible and affordable location determination technique that exploits the already-existing WLAN infrastructure in indoor spaces has been designed without incurring additional costs, among all suggestions in the literature that include hardware and highly complex *** positioning strategy is becoming more popular. Soon in actual surroundings, WLAN will be able to be employed as part of an indoor positioning system. In comparison to similar systems, it is a good option in terms of accuracy, precision, and cost. It has also become the most user-friendly way, particularly with the widespread use of smartphones and tablet computers. In the literature, many machine learning algorithms such as cluster-filtered KNN and fuzzy c means algorithms have been proposed for the WiFi router signal coverage position prediction system but the disadvantage of these approaches is that it will consume much pre-processing time for reference points data and also these approaches found to be less accurate. In the proposed study, adaptive KNN-based machine learning model has been proposed for the WiFi signal coverage prediction system. The proposed method adjusts the value of K for each position by examining the relationship between the K value and the intensity of the received WiFi signal. This technique improves positioning accuracy by more than 30% when compared to the existing approach. The experimental results are conducted by applying various machine learning algorithms. In this work, a novel millimeter-wave circularly polarized patch antenna is presented. The antenna offers wide bandwidth, high gain, compact size, simple geometry, low profile and wide axial ratio. The proposed antenna is designed on the top side of Rogers RT/duroid 6002 with thickness of 0.79mm. The analysis and numerical simulation of the proposed antenna is performed using the full-wave electromagnetic simulator, HFSS. © 2022 IEEE.

The concepts of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) are crucial for fostering inclusive societies and promoting equal opportunities for all individuals, contributing to social cohesion, economic development, and overall well-being. Social media platforms have offered several benefits for individuals, including information and knowledge sharing, and enhanced connectivity and networking opportunities. On the other hand, social media has enabled several forms of GESI violations, including hate speech, targeted harassment, and discriminatory content. One important solution to face these violations is the challenging behavior of those who violate GESI concepts on social media platforms. While many users may intend to confront and combat such violations, the actual behavior may not always align with these intentions. Accordingly, this study aims to investigate users' challenging intentions and behavior of GESI violations on social media platforms, while focusing on the cultural differences among the UK and Arab. We also investigated the moderating impact of social inclusion on the relationship between intention and behavior regarding challenging violations of GESI. To meet this goal, we deployed a survey among two samples of UK (325) and Arab (312) participants. Our results show that there are intention-behavior disparities in challenging GESI violations on social media platforms for both samples. The results also confirmed the moderating impact of social inclusion on the relationship between intention and behaviors regarding challenging violations of GESI among UK participants and rejected it among Arab participants.

Joint Planning of Dynamic Wireless Charging Lanes and Power Delivery Infrastructure for Heavy-Duty Drayage Trucks

Heavy-duty drayage trucks pose a considerable emission burden and health risk, primarily due to their operation in densely populated areas around seaports and intermodal terminals. In response to these concerns, governments are setting ambitious targets for zero-emissions drayage truck transition. As such, the widespread adoption of electric drayage trucks is on the horizon. However, one of the main challenges hindering the mass electrification of drayage trucks is the low readiness of charging infrastructure. Traditional charging stations can lead to long waiting times for truck drivers, which can be detrimental to an industry where timely pickup and delivery are crucial. Dynamic wireless charging lanes (DWCLs) have emerged as a promising alternative or supplement to stationary charging stations by enabling charging-on-the-move. Although electric drayage trucks are potentially the most benefited vehicles from DWCLs, the optimal deployment of DWCLs for them is rarely studied. To address this problem, we propose a framework that focuses on the deployment of DWCLs with special attention paid to drayage trucks, while jointly planning the associated power delivery infrastructure. The proposed planning model identifies the optimal locations of DWCLs in a given transportation network and determines how they will be powered by nearby electrical substations. Additionally, the framework also evaluates whether an upgrade of the electrical substation is needed. A large-scale Global Positioning System (GPS) dataset and an electrical substation dataset, which contain more than 7,000 heavy-duty drayage trucks that span over a period of 12 months and over 255 substations, are utilized to provide the necessary input to the proposed framework. This research paper presents a deep learning-based predictive model for classifying currency trends using technical indicators. The model is trained on a dataset generated from three technical indicators: relative strength index (RSI), moving average convergence divergence (MACD), and stochastic. The dataset consists of historical currency data along with the corresponding values of the technical indicators. The deep learning model can accurately classify the trends of a given currency based on the importance of these indicators. The model's performance is evaluated using standard metrics, and the results demonstrate its effectiveness in classifying currency trends. The proposed model provides a valuable tool for traders and investors in the foreign exchange market by helping them make informed decisions about the direction of currency prices. © 2023 The Authors. Extended reality (XR) is bridging the gap between virtual and real-world interactions enabling users to interact in realistic virtual worlds, removing physical obstacles, and establishing shared areas that promote greater comprehension and teamwork. The growing demand for high-frequency 5G communication systems supporting these new applications motivates the need of compact and efficient antennas capable of operating at millimeter-wave frequency bands. This work explores how the use of photonic crystal (PhC) leverages the properties of a multi-band antenna operating within the 27.0 GHz and 41.49 GHz resonant bands. The High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) software is utilized in this paper to outline a comprehensive design and modeling approach for the proposed microstrip patch *** design process involves optimizing the geometry and periodicity of the PhC structure to obtain resonant modes at the desired frequency bands by exploiting its bandgap properties, whilst enabling high quality resonances within the targeted frequency bands. The electromagnetic simulations and numerical analysis results demonstrate that the designed multi-band PhC-based antenna achieves a gain of 9.57 dBi. The resonant modes exhibit high quality factors, resulting in improved radiation efficiency. The proposed PhC-based antenna compact size, high gain, and multiple resonant bands make it suitable for a wide range of applications, including next-generation wireless communication systems supporting XR, radar systems, or satellite communications in the upper frequency bands.

We develop a clearance and settlement model for Peer-to-Peer (P2P) energy trading in low-voltage networks. The model enables direct transactions between parties within an open and distributed system and integrates unused capacity while respecting network constraints. In this paper, we present an immersive virtual farm simulation developed to provide realistic on-farm experiences to the public. Users could visit the virtual farm, walk through various sites where dairy cows are raised, and learn how the dairy products are produced through the virtual experience. public users' responses about the virtual experience were collected in various measures, e.g., user experience and learning efficacy, via showcases at local libraries. We present preliminary results regarding the potential of the simulation as an effective agricultural education, and discuss our future plans.
