Assessment of myocardial viability is essential in diagnosis and treatment management of patients suffering from myocardial infarction, and classification of pathology on myocardium is the key to this assessment. This work defines a new task of medical image analysis, i.e., to perform myocardial pathology segmentation (MyoPS) combining three-sequence cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) images, which was first proposed in the MyoPS challenge, in conjunction with MICCAI 2020. The challenge provided 45 paired and pre-aligned CMR images, allowing algorithms to combine the complementary information from the three CMR sequences for pathology segmentation. In this article, we provide details of the challenge, survey the works from fifteen participants and interpret their methods according to five aspects, i.e., preprocessing, data augmentation, learning strategy, model architecture and post-processing. In addition, we analyze the results with respect to different factors, in order to examine the key obstacles and explore potential of solutions, as well as to provide a benchmark for future research. We conclude that while promising results have been reported, the research is still in the early stage, and more in-depth exploration is needed before a successful application to the clinics. Simulating a Stochastic Signal of Urban Water Demand by a Novel Combination of Data Analytic and Machine Learning techniques

In this research, a new methodology is presented to forecast the stochastic component of urban water demand for Baghdad City from 2003 to 2014. The methodology contains data preprocessing to analyse raw time series of water via Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) technique and select the best scenario of independent variables by a stepwise regression method. Artificial neural network (ANN) is integrated by Backtracking Search Algorithm (BSA) to find the best factors of the ANN model. The outcomes reveal that data pre-processing can detect the stochastic signal of water data and choice the best model input's scenario. BSA successfully determines the parameters of the ANN model. The methodology accurately simulated the stochastic signal of water time series depend on different statistical criteria such as coefficient of determination and mean absolute relative error equal to 0.99 and 0.0208, respectively.

Simulation of EEG-Based Apparatus control for Quadriplegic Patients

The use of electroencephalogram (EEG) waves in the field of Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI) has recently attracted a lot of interest, with varied applications ranging from entertainment to medicine emerging, showing that EEG waves are suitable for controlling appliances through a microcontroller. This study presents an offline strategy for the extraction of digital control signals from brain EEG waves using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The principle is applied as follows: (i) the extraction of α- and β-bands from the original brain EEG wave; (ii) detection of the peaks of both bands; and (iii) calculation of the power density of both bands to classify the mental mode and to generate appropriate control signals. Simulation results including signal processing tracking for various EEG waves are demonstrated that verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy in terms of using brain EEG waves for apparatus control.

The present work interest in the cooling of electrical power chips, because such elements were prone to fail as a result of thermal load. A numerical analysis was performed aiming to study and investigate of improvement natural convection heat transfer by using two types of fins “cylindrical and twisted tapes fin” to maximize the cooling process and augmentation the heat dissipation rate of electronic circuits, Computational Fluid Dynamic “CFD” technique based on finite control volume method was adopted in form of ANSYS-FLUENT 19.1 program, the modeling process was carried out using SOLIDWORK program to design and build up the geometry. Since the geometry has curves and sharp edges unstructured mesh was applied with tetrahedron element for a better and accurate result. Mesh dependency was applied to check if the solution results are affected by the number of elements. The results found, the temperature difference increase with fin length increase and when twisted-tapes fins are used the temperature will be decreased to 268.27°C as compared with cylindrical fins that give 295.14°C, so using twisted tape fins will improve the heat transfer by 9% and minimizing generated temperature and thermal stress. the less material consumption with twisted-tapes fin design is cost-effective.

The purpose of this work to estimate oil temperature of hydraulic circuit that leads to affect the efficiency of the system. An expert system is built depending on the available knowledge. This model is generated in a computer program named 'Thermal Analysis of Hydraulic System (TAHS)'. The program is used to calculate partial power losses at different components of hydraulic system (pump, motor, valves, cylinder, pipe and fittings). The expert system is capable to estimate oil temperature and power loss with different types of (pumps, oils, circuits and actuator dimension). The chosen experimental conditions are oil flow rate, setting pressure, ambient temperature and duty time. The model is validated experimentally and with other works. The results show an acceptable agreement with average deviation about 2.6% & 6.4% respectively.

The iris recognition is the best biometric method that used today for distinguish between users. The iris recognition system is providing to distinguish between human based on unique features located inside irises. Ridge-Energy-Direction (RED) algorithm is used for extracting iris features from the rectangle iris template. This research presents comparative between four different ways of choosing iris region of human or identifications and tries to locate the best way among them. These ways are tested on two different databases (CASIA V1 and CASIA Interval). A full design of iris recognition system is made from segmentation, normalization, features extraction, and matching to test these rectangle iris templates. This paper recommends choosing the iris region that near to the pupil likes quarter iris region template, since this iris region template has small sizes among other templates in terms of pixels and gives 100% accuracy in identification and verification. © 2018 IEEE.

MASITs provides an optimum outcomes if it is not probable to become the solutions of huge inflexible optimization difficulties. Computerized investigation of skin lesions is a significant problem in data retrieval for medical imaging, it supports human experts to enhance their choice construction for rapid and accurate analysis of unhealthy nevi and other skin diseases. In this article, computerized investigation of skin lesions has been addressed, by an adjustment of controlling swarm intelligence system (Artifical Bee Colony{ABC}).The modified system is hybridized with a search technique for improved performance. Experimental outcomes on a level of medical images of early diagnosis skin lesions confirmation that this technique outclasses conventional mathematical approaches for the cases in the standard. It is identical good and regularly higher to advanced systems in the area in relationships of mathematical accuracy. The chief benefit of the proposed technique is that this diagnosis can segment skin lesions by resolve images. So, additional comprehensive features can be found from the segmented portion of the lesion, which in turn contributes on organization medical service accuracy.

Based on the analysis of DC microgrid structure and system operation modes, a pre-judgment coordinated control strategy is proposed for the stand-alone PV/battery DC microgrid in this paper. By considering the change trend of light intensity and state of charge (SOC) of lithium-ion battery, the five operation modes of the system are analyzed, and the control strategies of each unit are designed. According to the energy balance relationship, the photovoltaic system can work in maximum power tracking (MPPT) control and load power tracking control (LPTC) mode. The lithium-ion battery can guarantee the stability of DC bus voltage in microgrid by charging and discharging, and change the working range of SOC under certain conditions, so as to improve the power utilization rate. The load switching control is to ensure the power supply of key loads The stable operation of microgrid can be realized by avoiding frequent switching of load at switching *** model of PV/battery DC microgrid is built and simulation work is carried out in real-time digital simulator (RTDS). Through the simulation results under different working conditions, the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed pre-judgment coordinated control strategy are verified.

Many tracking systems are based on the Global Positioning System (GPS), Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) and smart phones, due to their wide availability and reliability. A moving object to be tracked, it sends its GPS coordinates to the observer via SMS. However, the economic feasibility of these systems mainly depends on the total cost of the used SMS messages. In this paper, an economic tracking scheme is proposed to reduce the tracking cost. A GPS-GSM tracking system that uses the proposed scheme is implemented and tested together with two classical tracking systems under two practical test cases. The first test case is a 121 km vehicle trip and the second is a 2.4 km walking journey. The results showed the effectiveness and economic feasibility of the proposed system, which achieved a saving in tracking cost up to about 64% with respect to the tested classical systems. © 2018 IEEE.
