The aviation sector is challenging to decarbonize since aircraft require high power and energy per unit of weight. Liquid hydrogen is an interesting solution due to its high gravimetric energy density, minimal warming impact, and low-carbon production potential. We quantify the performance targets for fuel cell systems and on-board storage to enable hydrogen-powered regional aviation. We then explore the energy infrastructure impacts of meeting this additional H2 demand in the European context under deep decarbonization scenarios. We find that minimal payload reduction would be needed for powering regional aviation up to 1000 nmi if fuel cell system specific power of 2 kW/kg and tank gravimetric index of 50% can be achieved. The energy systems analysis highlights the importance of utilizing multiple technology options: such as nuclear expansion and natural gas reforming with CCS for hydrogen production. Levelized cost of liquid hydrogen as low as €3.5/kg demonstrates pathways for Europe to achieve cost-competitive production. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

With the increasing developments in the Internet of Things (IoT), smart-city applications have been attracting widespread interest in many governments, organizations, and companies. The FED4IoT project is a research and innovation project that aims to develop a smart-city application, named “VirIoT,” which realizes the semantic interoperability of IoT data among numerous IoT applications from different grounds. To realize the semantic interoperability of IoT data, data management on cloud platforms, such as FIWARE, is considered necessary. Therefore, the development of a root data domain gateway (RDG), which analyzes IoT data, converts its data format, and posts the data to the cloud service, is required. In this project, Kanazawa Institute of technology has chosen wildlife monitoring as one of the use cases of the project, and its system using IoT has been designed and developed. Furthermore, its data model has been created for the development of the RDG. Finally, the RDG has been developed as a first step in the semantic interoperability of IoT data.

Unplanned seizures are caused by a disorder in the central nervous system known as epilepsy. Although significant advancements have been made in the realm of non-EEG wearable devices, there is still much room for improvement in the field of EEG-based seizure detection and prediction using ML. The management of epilepsy has a lot of promise to be aided by non-invasive wearable technology. The suggested study intends to design and implement a support vector machine (SVM) classification-based epileptic seizure detection system based on various wearable devices. The proposed technique for detecting seizures accomplishes According to data for seizure detection, our system consistently achieves a sensitivity of 100% and an accuracy of 97%. High level MATLAB model creation is part of the design cycle. Despite the fact that high performance cannot be achieved with just one signal. Although a high performance detection system cannot achieve the requisite sensitivity and accuracy with a single signal, we presented various combining techniques. RTL modelling, design optimization, FPGA implementation, and functional verification are all included in the implementation cycle. The capacity of the FPGA’s partial dynamic reconfiguration is suggested for implementation in order to make better use of the available resources. Comparing the proposed implementation to relevant earlier work, it demonstrated improved utilization.

The increase in population, food demand, and the pollution levels of the environment are considered major problems of this era. For these reasons, the traditional ways of farming are no longer suitable for early and accurate detection of biotic stress. Recently, precision agriculture has been extensively used as a potential solution for the aforementioned problems using high resolution optical sensors and data analysis methods that are able to cope with the resolution, size and complexity of the signals from these sensors. In this paper, several methods of machine learning have been utilized in order to study pests, their types, population, and agricultural conditions in terms of soil and climate for some crops such as potatoes, guava, and cotton, which are among the main Egyptian crops. In the process of obtaining a suitable estimate of insects population affecting each of the aforementioned crops, a hardware model control, based on the results provided by the predictive analysis, an estimate of the electromagnetic force is applied to the cultivated areas to get rid of the pests as well as giving a background to farmers about the possibility of infecting a crop such as Potato with Late Blight, according to climatic conditions. © 2021 IEEE.

This paper presents conditions in the form of Linear Matrix Inequalities to design state-feedback controllers for discrete-time uncertain positive linear systems in the presence of denial of service (DoS) attacks. The system under attack is modeled after a switched model that allows us to derive the synthesis conditions. Two strategies for control are considered, a hold strategy and a packet-based approach. Numerical experiments illustrate the efficacy of the proposed method of keeping the positiveness and stability of the closed-loop system under the presence of DoS attacks.

Smart computing has been particularly notable in the development of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), which have many applications. Battery-powered, self-configuring sensor nodes are the basis of these networks. Energy and resources are limited when it comes to sensors. Unbalanced nodes in the network consume more power, which adversely affects the network’s lifespan. An improved energy-efficient cluster-based routing protocol for heterogeneous wireless sensor networks (WSNs) based on the Internet of Things is proposed in this study. Several performance metrics were used to evaluate the proposed model’s effectiveness, including energy efficiency, alive nodes, dead nodes, network lifetime, and residual energy. The results of the comparison were compared with existing methodologies, such as LEACH, PSO, and hybrid PSO. The proposed approach outperforms the existing model by a substantial margin in networks with 50 and 100 nodes, according to the simulation results.

Superlattice (SL) HfO 2 -ZrO 2 with physical thickness of 5 nm and low phase fraction ratio 0.101:1 of monoclinic-phase (m-phase) to orthorhombic-phase (o-phase) investigated by geometrical phase analysis (GPA) is demonstrated. The homogeneous and congruous of SL-HfZrO 2 (HZO) with sufficient ferroelectric-domain is integrated as ferro-stack FeFETs for multibit NVM with low |V PG/ER | = 4 V, ultra-low error rate = 7.5×10 -16 , record high 2-bit endurance for 10 9 cycles, and stable data retention > 10 4 s. The device-to-device (D2D) variation of nanoscale 3D FeFETs is also improved with the proposed SL-HZO. The superlattice technique for FE-HZO is a promising concept with elevating the coherence of domain access due to high o-phase toward emerging memory applications.

In recent years, the GAA NS Si MOSFET has been explored as a leading technology. However, the intrinsic parameters of GAA NS Si MOSFETs are affected to varying degrees by various fluctuation sources, Statistically independent and identically distributed $(iid)$ assumptions on the aforementioned random variables overestimate the variability of high-frequency characteristics, compared with considering all fluctuation factors simultaneously. Notably, the random nanosized metal grains dominates the variations of voltage gain, cut-off frequency, and 3dB frequency because the random work functions strongly alter the channel surface potential.

Background: To evaluate the effect of the weighting of input imaging combo and ADC threshold on the performance of the U-Net and to find an optimized input imaging combo and ADC threshold in segmenting acute ischemic stroke (AIS) lesion. Methods: This study retrospectively enrolled a total of 212 patients having AIS. Four combos, including ADC-ADC-ADC (AAA), DWI-ADC-ADC (DAA), DWI-DWI-ADC (DDA), and DWI-DWI-DWI (DDD), were used as input images, respectively. Three ADC thresholds including 0.6, 0.8 and 1.8 × 10^–3 mm²/s were applied. Dice similarity coefficient (DSC) was used to evaluate the segmentation performance of U-Nets. Nonparametric Kruskal–Wallis test with Tukey–Kramer post-hoc tests were used for comparison. A p <.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The DSC significantly varied among different combos of images and different ADC thresholds. Hybrid U-Nets outperformed uniform U-Nets at ADC thresholds of 0.6 × 10^–3 mm²/s and 0.8 × 10^–3 mm²/s (p <.001). The U-Net with imaging combo of DDD had segmentation performance similar to hybrid U-Nets at an ADC threshold of 1.8 × 10^–3 mm²/s (p =.062 to 1). The U-Net using the imaging combo of DAA at the ADC threshold of 0.6 × 10^–3 mm²/s achieved the highest DSC in the segmentation of AIS lesion. Conclusions: The segmentation performance of U-Net for AIS varies among the input imaging combos and ADC thresholds. The U-Net is optimized by choosing the imaging combo of DAA at an ADC threshold of 0.6 × 10^–3 mm²/s in segmentating AIS lesion with highest DSC. In the present scenario the aluminum and its alloys are preferred due to requirement of lightweight high strength material. The present research article interrogates experimentally the study of actual density and porosity using powder metallurgy method. The experimental design is done using Taguchi L 16 orthogonal array. Actual density and porosity has been analyzed based on ‘smaller is best’ basis. Actual density and porosity are calculated using Archimedes principle. The leverage of four levels and five process parameters such as weight percentage of Al 2 O 3 , weight percentage of graphite, compaction pressure, compaction time and milling time are considered. Results reveal that Al 2 O 3 weight percentage has the highest leverage on density followed by compaction time and graphite weight percentage.
