This study combines AI voice synthesis with IoT to create a real-time multilingual translation system. Front-end devices capture the speaker's voice, which is then played back in both original and translated forms, enabling consecutive interpreting. This system is ideal for multilingual scenarios. After digitization, audio signals undergo speech-to-text conversion, multilingual translation, and text-to-speech processing. Speech synthesis matches the speaker's voice characteristics, allowing listeners to hear the translation in the speaker's voice. Both voice-to-text conversion and translated audio playback use Wi-Fi for data transmission, facilitating future applications. In validation, the average translation and transmission time for each speech segment were 410 ms and 3.38 s, respectively. The synthesized voice similarity analysis achieved an accuracy of 88%, showcasing the method's potential for system integration and development. © 2024 IEEE.

A 1500x ILRS/IHRS with a high cell current of 100 nA/ cell (J = 83 A/cm2) is achieved by antiferroelectric (AFE) vertical ferroelectric tunnel junctions (V-FTJs) that demonstrates multilevel, a self-rectifying rate > 1000x, and macro operation. The stackable 3 D architecture integrating multiple layers of AFE V-FTJs with contact optimization further increases memory density. Robust endurance > 109 cycles at |4V| and stable nonvolatile data retention > 104 sec with extrapolation to 10 years are achieved. The proposed cell contact V-FTJ by AFE is a promising pathway toward BEOL NVMs by a NAND/NOR-based framework. © 2023 JSAP.

The ubiquity of smartphone and tablet devices, combined with the increasing availability of serious games, has enabled students to learn various abstract concepts in an appealing and convenient manner. While several researchers have explored the use of Augmented Reality (AR) in serious games, many of these games have not been critically explained or evaluated. To that end, we employed game-based learning methodologies and Game Learning Analytics (GLA) to systematize the design and evaluation of an AR-based serious game to teach programming. We evaluated our game for usability and effectiveness by conducting a user study on twenty-seven undergraduate students. The evaluation primarily consisted of a learning test conducted twice – before and after playing the game – along with a usability questionnaire that players completed after playing the game. Our results showed that players made significant progress after playing the game. The game helped players improve their basic programming skills, especially for the group having lower prior programming skills. The results highlighted various ways in which GLA can be used to benefit different stakeholders in the game. Based on players’ qualitative responses, we also identified several areas of improvement, most prominently the trade-off between ease of use and game complexity. We provide suggestions and discuss implications for future work. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd

The essential ideas behind haptic technology, including haptic interface and haptic rendering methods, as well as its application to surgical simulation, medical education, and other diverse topics, are presented in this paper. In empirical psychology and physiology, this refers to the sense of contact. The process of analyzing and developing capabilities in response to user interactions with virtual entities is elaborated as haptic rendering. Haptic may indicate haptic transmission, haptic perception, and haptic technology. Humans and other animals can respond to one another by using their feelings through haptic technology. Haptic perception is the process of recognizing objects through *** implies tactile response, which means it delivers feedback in the state of sensation as we may sense the material properties and motions of virtual objects devised by a computer. The use of haptic technology in the medical profession has proven extremely beneficial, and it has a wide range of applications in many different industries. Sustainable power sources for outdoor wearable electronics are essential for the continuous operation of wearable ***,the current lack of engineering design that can harvest energy regardless of weather conditions presents a significant *** this regard,this study introduces a wearable,breathable all-weather usable dual energy harvester(AWuDEH)that can seamlessly generate electrical energy regardless of weather *** this study,the AWuDEH integrated with the thermoelectric generator and the droplet-based electricity generator is *** AWuDEH,especially engineered with a bi-functional top substrate for radiative cooling and electrification,achieves sustainable energy harvesting outdoors,thereby addressing the conventional challenge associated with the necessity for separate energy harvesters tailored to outdoor usage contingent on weather *** device reaches a maximum power output of 14.6μW cm^(-2)under simulated sunny conditions and generates a much more enhanced thermoelectric power of 74.78μW cm^(-2)and a droplet-based electric power of 256.25 mW m^(-2)in rainy *** proof,this study developed self-powered wearable electronics capable of acquiring physiological signals in simulated outdoor *** study presents a promising advancement in wearable technology,offering a potent solution for sustainable energy harvesting independent of weather conditions.

In the contemporary digital era, individuals face an overwhelming challenge of searching for personalized content from a seemingly infinite pool of available options such as books, videos, articles, and movies. Simultaneously, digital content providers strive to attract and retain as many users on their platforms as possible for extended periods. This has led to the evolution of recommender systems, which aim to enhance user engagement and satisfaction by recommending content based on their preferences and interests. These systems employ sophisticated algorithms and data mining techniques to analyze user behavior and feedback, enabling them to make personalized recommendations to users, thereby improving their overall experience. In this paper, an investigation is conducted in which different models in machine learning with their combinations are evaluated to evaluate which model could give the best accuracy with actual ratings given by users. The models used are Lasso regression, XGBoost, K-nearest neighbor, surprise baseline only, SVD, SVDpp, and their combinations. The proposed ensembled model of XGBoost + surprise baseline + surprise KNN baseline + SVD + SVDpp, with the minimum value of RMSE as 1.111410 and MAPE value as 39.261054, is our best model and can serve as a reference for any future recommender system. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

This paper shows the design and implementation of a multi-resonant Class-E 2 DC-DC converter based on voltage- controlled oscillator. By cascading a Class-E inverter to a Class-E rectifier, a double soft-switching converter is obtained, in which, the active switch turns-on with zero voltage switching and the diode turns-off with zero derivative voltage switching. This work relies on design equations based on normalized charts that relate the resonant frequency to the current transfer function, quality factor and peak values for the switch variables. In order to activate the switch, a circuit scheme is proposed based on a voltage-controlled oscillator connected to a low-side gate-driver. Therefore, it is not necessary to use a microcontroller neither auxiliary power sources. Experimental results are presented to show the feasibility of the proposed converter.

As the global population ages, the number of elderly people needing hearing aids is increasing. This paper proposed an architecture designed to enhance speech based on noise conditions. After noise types are identified by a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) noise classification model, these noise conditions are combined with the noisy speech and input into a conditional Generative Adversarial Network (cGAN) for speech enhancement. The CNN noise classification model achieves an average recognition accuracy of nearly 92%, with a Kappa value as high as 0.88. The cGAN speech enhancement achieves lower error values in the Mel-Cepstral Distortion (MCD) measure. Although some parts of the human voice may be filtered out, the results demonstrate the potential development of the proposed algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel algorithm for reachability analysis of nonlinear discrete-time systems. The proposed method combines constrained zonotopes (CZs) with polyhedral relaxations of factorable representations of nonlinear functions to propagate CZs through nonlinear functions, which is normally done using conservative linearization techniques. The new propagation method provides better approximations than those resulting from linearization procedures, leading to significant improvements in the computation of reachable sets in comparison to other CZ methods from the literature. Numerical examples highlight the advantages of the proposed algorithm. © 2024 IEEE.
