The tipping bucket rain gauge is one of the most widely used apparatus for measuring rainfall. Data loggers connected to these rain gauges keep count of the amount of rainfall being received and store it in their internal memory until it's collected. Internet-enabled loggers present currently in the market are very limited and extremely expensive. This paper presents a cheap and efficient tipping bucket rain gauge with an internet enabled data logger. The data logger posts the rainfall data to a SQL database located on our server through a microcontroller which has been interfaced with a GSM/GPRS module. This data is posted automatically to the server after every rainfall or once after every 24 hours even if there is no rainfall, along with temperature and humidity data obtained from the respective sensors interfaced to the microcontroller.

Today, human detection and tracking is important challenge for many aims. In this study, we are used Ultra Wide Band (UWB) radar for human respiratory detection behind a wall. The modulated system to get the breathing signal is introduced. The results of simulation part of the established system are presented. Suitable antenna for using as a transmitter and receiver is being discussed. This paper obtains optical soliton solution in dual-core fibers with log law nonlinearity. The Gaussian ansatz approach is employed to integrate the governing model. The Gaussons come with constraint relation that fall out from the solution structure. Finally, a couple of conserved quantities are computed. © 2015 American Scientific Publishers.

This paper deals with a single-input multiple-output mixed-mode second-order filter providing two voltage-mode functions (low-pass and band-pass) and three transconductance-mode functions (low-pass, band-pass and band-reject) based on voltage differencing transconductance amplifier (VDTA). The quality factor and pole frequency can be electronically and orthogonally tuned via the bias current. The proposed circuit uses two VDTAs and two grounded capacitors without any external resistors, which is suitable to further develop into an integrated circuit. Moreover, the circuit possesses high input impedance, providing easy cascading. The PSPICE simulation results are included, verifying the key characteristics of the proposed filter. The given results agree well with the theoretical presumptions.

We have been studying the use of "Rich Media" to support creative and intelligent human activities. Specifically, for over ten years we have been focusing on the 3D space as a "Rich Medium" and developed many 3D sketch systems that support the design of 3D objects. However, we found that designers in the real world do not use them. The fundamental problem is the lack of an indispensable function for using the 3D space. To overcome this problem, we have proposed "life-sized and operable" design principles. Although the new design concept made the 3D space truly useful and promoted the designer to use such a system, it revealed new problems, i.e., Limited design space. In this paper, we extend this "life-sized and operable" 3D sketch system by using three design spaces, which enables the user to traverse between 2D drawing and 3D drawing spaces, between miniature and actual sizes, between rough sketching and precise design, and among still, operable, and hap tic sketching.

A robust fuzzy control design, with time delay, based on gain and phase margins specifications for nonlinear systems, in the continuous time delay, is proposed. From input and output data of the process, a Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) clustering algorithm estimates the antecedent parameters and the rules number of a Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model, whereas the least squares algorithm estimates the consequent parameters. A multiobjective genetic strategy is developed to tune the fuzzy digital controller parameters, so the gain and phase specified margins are obtained for the fuzzy control system. The fuzzy PID controller was implemented on a real time acquisition data platform, based on CompactRIO (NI cRIO-9073) and Lab VIEW, from National Instruments, for temperature control of a thermic process. The experimental results show the efficiency of the proposed methodology through the accuracy in the gain and phase margins of the PID control system compared to the specified ones and tracking of the reference trajectory. Fuzzy PID controller also is more efficient when compared to the fuzzy delay and lead compensator.

Considered that the dual band sensor system is the most popular design at present, this study discussed the design of a dual-band hybrid array readout circuit. The direct injection circuit structure was used in the unit pixel. The design, simulation, and layout were conducted in the 40um×40um unit pixel to complete middle and long waveband signal readouts, in order to achieve one sensor unit with two sensor modes. The readout circuit chip adopted TSMC 0.35um 2P4M CMOS 5V to design a 16×12 array readout circuit, with an input current range of the measured current at 1.9pA to 50 nA, an adjustable integration time, a maximum frame rate of 110Hz, the output swing of the chip signal of 2V, the maximum operating chip frequency of 3MHz, power dissipation of 18mW, system noise voltage Vrms of 0.68mV, and signal-noise ratio of 69dB. Finally, the tested chip was used to connect the detection system proxy board and digital signal board, and digital signal processing video through front-end filters and analog to digital converter, in order to complete signal conversion and digital signal processing. With the digital control signal provided by the signal board and signal capture, the back-end digital signal was processed and imaged on the screen. The readout circuit chip connected the signal proxy board for testing. The overall system resolution reached 10 bit.

Measurements of resonant ultrasonic frequencies of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) were performed as a function of excitation amplitude to assess the potential of nonlinear acoustic methods for sensing the presence of cracks. The ultimate objective of this work is to establish an approach for nondestructively screeningMLCCs for susceptibility to failure that arises from the evolution of structural flaws into electrical pathways during service. Direct ferroelectric tone-burst transduction and time-domain signal analysis were used to measure the frequency of an extensional mode near 1 MHz in BaTiO 3 -based MLCCs with interleaved Ag electrodes. The capacitors were subjected to thermal stress by quenching from 189 °C into ice water, which led to generation of visible surface-breaking cracks in a fraction of the MLCCs. The amplitude dependence of the resonant frequencies was found to be strongly correlated with the presence of visible cracks.
