The high cost for information security incident response makes organizations hesitate to possess their own expert security team. Also organizations are still reluctant to share their own security circumstances with external organizations. By the way, they hope experts will help to defend against cyber threats without losing their reputations. To satisfy these requests of organizations, we propose a security coordination model that supports security incidents response in an organizational architecture, in this paper. Besides, our model has cyber forensic functions for collecting digital evidences from real time monitoring and on-site investigation of the incidents and reporting the analysis results to authorized organizations effectively.

Oregon Institute of technology offers a Bachelor of Science in electronics engineering technology that includes a senior level capstone course in analog integrated circuit design. This course includes a two credit hour (six contact hours per week) laboratory in which students would normally perform six to eight individual "canned" experiments. Recently the author has re-structured the laboratory to become a term-long group project in the area of analog integrated circuits. This paper describes the results of one of these team projects. © American Society for engineering Education, 2007.

Most electronics courses taught these days are planned around what is called a lecture-and-lab environment. This environment traditionally uses lectures on subject matter and is supplemented by laboratory experience. If the laboratory experiments are not generating the expected results, very often the whole experiment needs to be repeated. The unexpected results could be due to faulty components, incorrect design specifications, or improper connections. Nonetheless, implementing a circuit in the lab with undesired output might be time consuming. However, having an electronics simulator will enable the students as well as the instructor to analyze the performance of a circuit prior to implementing the actual hardware components. This paper investigates design, simulation and implementation of a decade counter using modern computer hardware and software. This effort will focus on developing an integrated solution of a digital electronics project that will be based on a hybrid environment in which the design and experiments will be simulated and tested in virtual as well as with real electronics components. Students' outreach program in this study is to motivate students to enroll in electronics engineering technology program. © American Society for engineering Education, 2007.

In November 2004 an innovative undergraduate Computer engineering technology program based on TAC of ABET program assessment criteria was granted licensure by the State Department of Higher Education. The University has considerable experience with accreditation and associated assessment activities, most recently reporting on an "Incommon Methodology for Objective- and Outcome-based programs Assessment" (Lema, L.F., Baumann, P.F., and Prusak, Z., ASEE 2005 Annual Conference) across three engineering technology programs. This study reports an assessment component within the Computer engineering technology program in accordance with ABET accreditation criteria. The implementation process was conducted in an undergraduate course in the program. The initial phase involves identification of course goals, and based on these goals, the measurable learning outcomes are formulated. Using web-based methodology and course management tools such as WebCT or Vista, the learning outcomes are measured in the form of pre- and post-course survey data from students. Data can be imported to data management tools such as Excel for analysis and evaluation. This study uses computer programs as tools to facilitate data collection and data analysis, making the data intensive portion of the assessment and evaluation process an easier endeavor. Applicability towards the assessment efforts of other engineering technology programs is also addressed. © American Society for engineering Education, 2007.

This paper compares that the analyzed efficiency about the case which will adopt the modulation method of the high-order unit for raising a data rate from wireless telecommunication system. The quadrature-carrier AM (QAM) of the rectangular square form which is used mainly in existing have excellent bit-error rate (BER) efficiency from it compares in different modulation method and the quality. But the number of amplitude increases to follow, the dynamic range of transfer & receiver signal increases and the limit gets in selection of the amplifier, the error occurrence rate from amplification process increases. Amplitude phase-shift keying (APSK) modulation is visible to a BER and the performance degradation of some, quadrature-carrier AM (QAM). It is compared with QAM. But because of the dynamic range (DR) the transmission signal obtained a profit specially in code-division multiple access (CDMA) or orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) with the multi signal transfer as sum of signal. It is useful in the modulation method of the higher-order unit for a system. Also the use of the non-linear amplifier where the case of power efficiency of the APSK is good is possible and there is a possibility of getting a big profit even from the system embodiment side. This paper simulates that it led from the universal mobile telecommunication system terrestrial radio access (UTRA) time division duplex (TDD) system environment and gave some proof.

The main goal of this study is the discussion on whether it is possible to substitute learning in a classroom environment for learning out of the classroom setting via computer based training systems (CBT). The two main ideas this study deals with are how a simulator can cover the teaching of practical aspects and the rules we can apply to non attended learning and instruction within a virtual laboratory. Specifically, the study focuses on the evaluation of practical electronic projects and the results achieved by students through the use of electronic simulators (we are working with the Pspice tool). Students carried out a full practical simulation and assembly procedure which provided us with a set of results that could be applied to the evaluation of practical virtual learning projects. With the analysis of the results, we are able to conclude that laboratory work can be substituted by practical work, which includes simulation processes.

Chong received the B.E.(Hons.) degree with First Class Honors from the University of Adelaide South Australia in 1987 graduating top of his class and the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in 1989 and 1991 respectively both from Princeton University where he held an IBM Fellowship. He joined the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University in 1991 where he was named a University Faculty Scholar in 1999 and promoted to Full Professor in 2001. Since August 2001 he has been a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Professor of Mathematics at Colorado State University. His current interests are in communication networks and optimization methods. He coauthored the best-selling book An Introduction to Optimization 2nd Edition Wiley-Interscience 2001. He received the NSF CAREER Award in 1995 and the ASEE Frederick Emmons Terman Award in 1998. He coauthored a paper that was awarded Best Paper in the journal Computer Networks 2003. Professor Chong is a Fellow of the IEEE. He was founding chairman of the IEEE Control Systems Society Technical Committee on Discrete Event Systems and until recently served as an IEEE Control Systems Society Distinguished Lecturer. He has been on the editorial board of the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control. He is currently on the editorial board of the journal Computer Networks. Solution techniques for Markov decision problems rely on exact knowledge of the transition rates, which may be difficult or impossible to obtain. In this paper, we consider Markov decision problems with uncertain transition rates represented as compact sets. We first consider the problem of sensitivity analysis where the aim is to quantify the range of uncertainty of the average per-unit-time reward given the range of uncertainty of the transition rates. We then develop solution techniques for the problem of obtaining the max-min optimal policy, which maximizes the worst-case average per-unit-time reward. In each of these problems, we distinguish between systems that can have their transition rates chosen independently and those where the transition rates depend on each other. Our solution techniques are applicable to Markov decision processes with fixed but unknown transition rates and to those with time-varying transition rates.

Electromagnetic emission at the very high frequency (VHF) range of 30 to 300 MHz is used to detect surface defects on outdoor polymer zinc oxide (ZnO) surge arresters. The partial discharge related signals are recorded and studied. Since the surge arresters are usually exposed to adverse weather conditions, the effect of moisture and pollution on the characteristics is also investigated. Samples subjected to surface pollution were created according to the IEC standard under both wet and dry conditions. The collected electromagnetic signals were sampled and analyzed using a joint time-frequency analysis tool called the Wigner-Ville distribution (WVD). The results of this work indicate that the WVD analysis can be used as a diagnostic tool for polymer ZnO surge arresters. © 2006 IEEE.
