Reshaped Weyl fermionic dispersions driven by Coulomb interactions in MoTe2

We report the direct evidence of impacts of the Coulomb interaction in a prototypical Weyl semimetal, MoTe2, that alter its bare bands in a wide range of energy and momentum. Our quasiparticle interference patterns measured using scanning tunneling microscopy are shown to match the joint density of states of quasiparticle energy bands including momentum-dependent self-energy corrections, while electronic energy bands based on the other simpler local approximations of the Coulomb interaction fail to explain neither the correct number of quasiparticle pockets nor the shape of their dispersions observed in our spectrum. With this, we predict a transition between type-I and type-II Weyl fermions with doping and resolve its disparate quantum oscillation experiments, thus highlighting the critical roles of Coulomb interactions in layered Weyl semimetals.

This research was a preliminary research that aimed to determine the number of lipid from microalgae Botryococcus braunii through the extraction process and to find out the potentiality of microalgae to be converted into biodiesel. In this research used n-hexane as solvent, then it was conducted a literature study for lipid extraction from Botryococcus braunii with soxhlet method as companion data result. In this research, lipid extraction was performed on a laboratory scale using 175 ml n-hexane. Microalgae Botryococcus braunii were cultivated for 10 days preceding the process of drying and it was followed by the process of lipid extraction with soxhlet. The results of this study showed that the extraction with soxhlet method had the percentage of lipid yield that was 24% with 45 cycles. The number of lipid yields obtained was affected by the number of solvent cycles during the extraction process. The extraction process run optimally since the number of solvent cycles increased more and more until there was no more lipids extract that could be dissolved by the solvent. Therefore, the best method of extraction was the soxhlet method because it had a dilution principle that occurred repeatedly.

Perovskite material is considered as one of next-generation solar cells that will have good potential to replace the current silicon-based solar cells. However, several disadvantages still limit the application of this materials due to the unstable phase, crystal defects during fabrication, toxic, and susceptible to cell degradation upon humidity and ultraviolet exposure. Several methods and engineering works have been made to overcome those disadvantages including doping, a technique which induces element(s) or compound(s) that could obtain better performance. One of the promising elements is cesium (Cs) that can be doped as a cation, compound or additive which would alter the interface between the electron-selective layer and the strain of perovskite structure. By having this element, the improved higher efficiency and operation stability can be significantly expected. This review article summarizes the efforts have been carried out by researchers working on Cesium doping on the perovskite solar cell towards high efficiency and operational stability. In has been found up to present that the best Cesium cation doping was able to bring up the improvement of efficiency up to 23,71%.

Characteristics of primary tin mineralization in the Central and West Bangka Island

Bangka Island is an important tin producer in Indonesia, mostly from the secondary tin deposits. However, the secondary tin deposit is depleting, causing further exploration shifted to the primary tin mineral. The purpose of this study is to make a mineralization model of primary tin deposit in Bangka Island. Methods that implemented in this study are petrographic analysis, mineragraphic analysis, XRD (X-Ray Diffraction), and XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence) analysis. The studied rock samples that consisted of granite, meta-sandstone, and sandstone. Some of the rocks are altered rocks with varying intensity. Petrographic and mineragraphic analysis show the presence of minerals that indicate the primary tin deposits, such as cassiterite, tourmaline, topaz, sericite, pyrite, and sphalerite. XRF analysis shows data about the value of Sn elements so that they can be classified into two classes, very high grade (> 800 ppm), and low grade (100–200 ppm). XRD analysis is necessary to do to determine the type and intensity of alterations that occur in the study area. The results of each analysis will provide supporting information regarding the primary tin mineralization process in Bangka Island.

Stress analysis of flying V-like non-conventional aircraft structures using finite element method

The stresses that occurred on the structures of a flying wing aircraft exemplified by the Flying-V structures (inspired by the design of Dr. Justus Benad of TU Delft) were evaluated using the finite element method to ensure a safe cruise condition. Two materials, i.e., aluminum alloy and carbon/epoxy composites, were defined in the analysis of the conceptual sub-structures (frame, longeron-stringer, spar-fuselage, ribs, spar wing, and upper and lower skin). These conceptual sub-structures do not necessarily represent the actual design of the Flying-V, although they may be adopted as the initial step. Structural optimization was performed with two objectives: (i) to minimize the sub-structural thickness of fully aluminum aircraft and (ii) to minimize the sub-structural thickness and laminate stacking sequence of fully composite aircraft. To this end, the stresses and wing-tip deflection were minimized. The analysis showed that carbon/epoxy composite is a feasible material to minimize the wing-tip deflection and weight compared to the aluminum alloy. The minimization of wing-tip deflection and weight was possible using a composite lay-up of quasi-isotropic, either (0/45/-45/90)s or (0/45/90/-45)s. Here, the finite element analysis provides a path to further the structural optimization of the non-conventional flying wing aircraft.

The catalytic thermal conversion of carbon dioxide is essential for carbon capture, storage, and utilization, helping to reduce CO₂ emissions and potentially stimulating future economic activities. Zeolite Y, ZSM-5, BEA, and A were synthesized using the hydrothermal technique from Indonesian kaolin to examine the potential use of zeolite as a catalyst without metal nanoparticles. In the absence of metal, catalytic activity for CO₂ methanation relies solely on textural properties and basicity-acidity. Zeolite Y exhibits the highest CO₂ conversion at 36.64 % and attained 100 % of CH₄ selectivity at 400 °C. The exceptional CO₂ conversion of zeolite Y relies on a high basicity level of 1.02 mmol/g, as shown by CO₂-TPD analysis, and a relatively low acid site concentration of 1.48 mmol/g, as determined by NH₃-TPD analysis. ZSM-5, BEA, and zeolite A, demonstrated CO₂ conversion of 29.85 %, 23.86 %, and 12.15 %, respectively. Stability studies revealed ZSM-5 maintains methane (CH₄) selectivity of 94 %, which is only slightly lowered by 6 % for 30 hours, while zeolite Y achieved 90 % selectivity for 26 hours. The presence of mesopores in zeolite ZSM-5 reduced coke or carbon production, maintaining crystalline framework. © 2024 The Authors

Mt. Endut geothermal area is located in Lebak district, Banten province, about 40 km to the south of the town of Rangkasbitung. There are four manifestations of hot springs i.e: Handeuleum hot springs, Cikawah 1, Cikawah 2, and Gajrug. Based on geochemical analysis using Na-K-Mg triangular diagrams, Cl-Li-B, and Cl-SO4-HCO3, it is known that Cikawah 1 hot springs is chloride type and the other springs are bicarbonate type. Reservoir temperature range is from 162°C to 180°C are predicted by SiO2 and NaK geothermometers. In general all hot springs are out flows, but there is an hypothesis that Cikawah 1 is the up flow. Because it is in partial equilibrium and chloride type. Mount Endut has a hydrothermal system with a fluid reservoir in the form of hot water or water dominated system. The geothermal prospect area of Mount Endut is located around the Cikawah manifestation to the western part of the Endut mountain. Further research is required by conducting geophysical surveys around the Mount Endut.

Comparison design of electric motorcycles using hybrid systems (BLDC motor) on 150Cc motorcycles based on parameter testing

This study aims to know the comparison design of electric motorcycle using hybrid systems (BLDC Motor) based on parameter testing, i.e., with and without load. The design of electric motorcycles is centered on determining a feasibility study comparing engine drive with electric drive. Electric vehicles are the answer to decreasing petroleum supplies and environmental concerns that are worsening every year due to oil-fueled cars’ exhaust emissions. The proportion of motor vehicle exhaust as an air pollution source is between 60 and 70 percent. The global decrease of fossil fuels is also a critical issue that has yet to be handled. A descriptive statistic methodology was employed in this work as an analytical tool. The results showed when the speed increases, the efficiency of the BLDC motor would increase; this is, of course, following the principle of Orsted’s law and Lorentz force. When compared to the no-load test, the efficiency by using the load will be greater because when the BLDC motor works with a load, it will require greater torque due to an increase in load so that it takes a large amount of power so that it will increase the efficiency of the BLDC motor. When compared in terms of using the battery, the time of using the battery with no load will be longer because it does not require too much current.

In recent years, several applications of micromixers have been reported to have a number of advantages, including the use of small amounts of plasma, short reaction times, and good reaction efficiency. The samples analyzed in this study were blood plasma and distilled water. The process is carried out by passive mixing which is based on a microchannel structure to enhance the diffusion of molecules for efficient mixing. The arrow shape was chosen as the micromixer design because it has a better blending performance than the T and Y shapes. The types of obstacles also used to improve the mixing process. The simulation was carried out on COMSOL Multiphysics software version 5.6. The results showed better mixing results for the micromixer design with triangle right facing obstacles with the highest Reynolds number was 9.4326. Then followed by ellips obstacles with a value of 9.4322, then without obstacles that is 9.4309, after that the triangle left facing with a value of 9.4006, and finally the lowest Reynolds number is a design with a diamond obstacles of 9.2514.
