Variable speed wind turbine generators installation has been significantly increased worldwide in the last few years. Voltage sag at the grid side may call for the disconnection of the wind turbine from the grid as under such faults it may not comply with the recent developed grid codes for wind energy conversion systems (WECS). In this paper, a Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is applied to improve the low voltage ride through (LVRT) capability of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG)-based WECS during voltage sag at the grid side. Simulation is carried out using MATLAB/Simulink software. Results show that UPFC can significantly improve the LVRT capability of DFIG-based WECS and hence maintaining wind turbine connection to the grid during certain levels of voltage sag at the grid side. © 2012 Institut Teknologi Sepulul.

Lithium-Ion Capacitor (LIC) has shown promising performance to meet the needs of high energy and power-density-energy storage system in the era of electric vehicles nowadays. The development of electrode materials and electrolytes in recent years has improvised LIC performance significantly. One of the active materials of LIC electrodes, activated carbon (AC), can be synthesized from various biomass, one of which is the water hyacinth. Its abundant availability and low utilization make the water hyacinth as a promising activated carbon source. To observe the most optimal physical properties of AC, this study also compares various activation temperatures. In this study, full cell LIC was fabricated using LTO based anode, and water hyacinth derived AC as the cathode. The LIC full cell was further characterized to see the material properties and electrochemical performance. Water hyacinth derived LIC can achieve a specific capacitance of 32.11 F/g, the specific energy of 17.83 Wh/kg, and a specific power of 160.53 W/kg. © 2020 Trans Tech Publications Ltd, Switzerland.

There are 19.292.789 global cancer cases, with 9.958.133 fatalities. Lung cancer is the leading cause of death among men with 1.796.144 cases, and breast cancer is most prevalent in women with 684.996 cases. In Indonesia, there were 396.914 new cases and 234.511 deaths [1]-[2]. Metastatic cancer or stage 4 cancer, is characterized by highly aggressive cancer cells that have spread to other areas of the body. Approximately 60% of advanced cancer patients with pain struggle with daily activities, impacting sleep, and exacerbating emotional distress. Depression rates among cancer patients are three times higher than the general population. Addressing these challenges without medication, PALIAVEST integrates therapies like TENS, thermotherapy, aromatherapy, and multimedia with real-time ECG monitoring via IoT. Validated trials show high accuracy of ECG sensors more than 95% with 0.8% error and TENS therapy (2 Hz and 100 Hz) at over 95% with 0.52% error. PALIAVEST ensures consistent therapeutic temperatures, enhancing care reliability and promising better patient quality of life through comprehensive palliative approaches. © 2024 IEEE.

Transformers play a big role in the distribution of electrical energy. One of the factors that determines the reliability level of the transformer is the life of the transformer. If the transformer is used longer, the level reliability of its transformer will be decrease. The purpose of this research was to predict the life of a transformer based on the health index transformer calculation, then the value of health index transformer will be modeled by using artificial neural network. The results of this research were the values used as the parameters in transformer testing, which were insulating oil, furan, and dissolved gas. One of the advantages of artificial neural network methods in predicting the life of the transformer is a calculation error that can be minimized. From the result of this research, the transformer's life prediction system can be used directly to determine the lives of other transformers, both new and operating ones, with a low percentage of errors. Furthermore, this method can be used as an option in maintaining power transformers.

Application of Superconducting Magnetic energy Storage unit with Hysteresis Current Control-Fuzzy Logic to improve the performance of Wind Turbine Generator-Grid connected during short circuit is presented. Five 2 MW Type D-Wind Turbine Generator connected to a grid is simulated using SIMULINK/MATLAB program. The Superconducting Magnetic energy Storage unit consists of a Voltage Source Converter and DC-DC Chopper that are controlled by Hysteresis Current Control and Fuzzy Logic Controller respectively. Simulation results show that the proposed control algorithm of Superconducting Magnetic energy Storage unit is effective in saving some MWs of Type D-Wind Turbine Generator production during occurrence of short circuit in the line.

Waste is a problem in almost every region, especially related to how the processing of waste can be converted into other forms as a form of energy that can be utilized, one of which is waste processing by pyrolysis is one of the technologies to convert waste into useful energy or fuel. At this time waste processing requires waste processing machines ranging from organic and un-organic waste shredding machines, briquette processing machines, pellets, using star-delta 3-phase motors, generally still conventional/manually. Current research, the author began to develop a waste and flue gas particle handling machine, a non-incinerator pyrolysis machine with the wet method, a high efficiency cyclone system which originally used a machine manually/ conventionally, replaced with a Delta series Star - Delta series with interlock and interface) automatically. Garbage processing The machine in addition to aiming to reduce waste waste, the machine must be made automatically and friendly to the operator who runs it.

Conversion of fossil fuels as an energy source can be achieved by optimizing the use of renewable energy. One of the most used renewable energy is solar photovoltaics (PV). At present, solar power plant is an electrification support system for certain buildings because the abundant availability of solar radiation. On this research, Power and energy observations are carried out to determine measure the load power trend, the amount of energy flow from PV to the load, as well as import or export power from or to utility grid by direct measurement on Mosque of Faculty of engineering, Universitas Indonesia. According to the study, the highest power generated by solar power plant mostly occurs at 12:00 - 13:00 with the highest power generated by PV is 2,344 W and the exported power is 939 W, and 32.19% - 55.67% electricity energy savings consumption from utility grid.

Bioenergy is one of the renewable energies which is predicted to be a main energy in the next few years. It can play the important role to change the current fossil fuel-based energy into a green energy which has a low carbon footprint. A research about how to develop a bioenergy have been done by a lot of reseacher. However, especially in Indonesia, there is just few research to study about bioenergy from societal aspects poin of view such as the understanding and awarness of bioenergy among citizens. In this research, we have investigated senior high school students' knowledge, perceptions, and attitudes interconected to bioenergy with online survery. The survey instrument used in the study was adopted from P. Halder's study. The data was collected from students at senior high school th (SMAN 10) Jambi City. The results showed that the students awareness of bioenergy perceived from school, home, and social media have significant effects on their knowledge, perceptions and attitudes related to bioenergy. Among 211 students as respondent (N), we found 70.62% believe that they understand well the concept about bioenergy, 5.21% believe that they understand it very well, and the rest believe that they do not understand it. This understanding reflects to their willingness to use a bioenergy in their daily life, in which 71.70% respondents agree to use bioenergy, 25.47% respondents can not decide, and only 2.83% do not want to use it. To find the relationship among the variables, a multiple regression was conducted. A statistical analysis showed that the model for knowledge as a function of attitudes and perception does not fit the data therefore this model is rejected. However, both model for attitudes as function of perception and knowledge, and also perception as function of attitudes and knowldeges fit the data hence the models are accepted. Solar photovoltaic generation and energy storage are being used to power rural places. However, remote users are burdened by private energy storage devices. Remoteness limits the economic viability of cooperative energy storage. Our work proposes a shared energy storage model considering battery degradation. To test the model, we compared Individual, Neighbor, and Communal scenarios. The system was built as a mixed integer linear programming model to investigate optimal operating methods. Compared to the other situations, the Neighbor scenario saves operational expenses by 4.97%. Finally, the self-consumption rate shows optimal penetration of renewable energy parameters.
