作者: STEIN, NI BENEL, RA MALONE, TB Mr. Norman I. Stein:received his degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Iowa in 1943. MK Stein began his career with the Bureau of Ships Department of the Navy. After his military service with the Army of Occupation in Japan he has held positions with the Corps of Engineering Atomic Energy Commission Walter Reed Army General Hospital and the Protective Structures Development Center Department of the Army. He returned to the Naval Sea Systems Command in 1967 and is currently with the Manning and Controls Integration Branch SEA 55 W16. Mr. Stein is a registered professional engineer in New York state and also is a certified fallout shelter analyst with the Department of the Army. He has authored a comprehensive study on air distribution studies in multi-room shelters presentedpapers on human factors engineering to the Association of Scientists and Engineers and recently contributed a chapter on human factors engineering which will be incorporated in the proposed Naval Sea Systems Handbook on Surface Ship Design. Russell A. Benel:received his Ph. D. in engineering psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is currently a Senior Research Scientist with Essex Corporation where he is the manager of the Man-Machine Systems Department. He has been responsible f o r scientific studies associated with the Human Factors Engineering f o r ships program under contract to the Naval Sea Systems Command specifically the development application and validation of human factors engineering technology f o r surface ship systems such as aircraft launch and recovery propulsion engineering combat direction weapons and total ship systems. He is currently providing Human Factors Engineering Support on the DDG-51. His other activities include a variety of research development test and evaluation activities for military systems. 作者: FUNG, SC The author is a naval architect with the Preliminary Design Division of the Naval Sea Systems Command. Mr. Fung graduated from National Cheng Kung University in 1976 and Stevens Institute of Technology in 1977 from which he received his B.S. degree in naval architecture and marine engineering and M.S. degree in ocean engineering respectively. He started his career with M. Rosenblatt and Son in 1979 and became a senior naval architect with the Hull Form & Hydrodynamics Department in Designers and Planners in 1981. For the past ten years Mr. Fung has performed a variety of tasks in the area of feasibility study hydrodynamic design including advanced marine vehicles bulbous bows and hull form design for surface combatant and non-combatant ships. Currently he is a project naval architect for the T-AO twin skeg integrated hull design and the AE-36 Energy Enhancement Program. Mr. Fung is a member of ASE ASNE and SNAME. He received the John C. Niedermair A ward in 1984 and 1986 for the best paper presented at the ASE annual technical symposiums.

作者: RUHE, WJ USN (RET.) THE AUTHOR: is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy Class of 1939 who served in Submarines during World War II and much of his naval career. Later he commanded Destroyers and Missile-Armed Destroyer Units his major command being the TERRIER-Armed Guided Missile Cruiser USS Topeka. Much of his shore duty career involved conceptual planning for new Navy systems as well as operational research involving sea wars of the future and he directed the study effort for the ocean wars in the first General Purpose Forces Studies conducted by the Joint Chiefs of Staff. On retirement in 1967 he joined the Staff of the President's Commission on Ocean Engineering and Research and upon completing his Commission work joined General Dynamics' Corporate Director of Marine Program Development presently serving in General Dynamics' Washington Office as Manager of Warfare Analysis and Energy Programs. His numerous articles in national magazines stress the great changes which he feels we must be aware of if we are to meet the challenge which the missile-dependent Soviet Navy now poses.
