With the advancement of deep learning models nowadays, they have successfully applied in the semi-supervised medical image segmentation where there are few annotated medical images and a large number of unlabeled ones. A representative approach in this regard is the semi-supervised method based on consistency regularization, which improves model training by imposing consistency constraints (perturbations) on unlabeled data. However, the perturbations in this kind of methods are often artificially designed, which may introduce biases unfavorable to the model learning in the handling of medical image segmentation. On the other hand, the majority of such methods often overlook the supervision in the Encoder stage of training and primarily focus on the outcomes in the later stages, potentially leading to chaotic learning in the initial phase and subsequently impacting the learning process of the model in the later stages. At the meanwhile, they miss the intrinsic spatial-frequency information of the images. Therefore, in this study, we propose a new semi-supervised medical image segmentation approach based on frequency domain aware stable consistency regularization. Specifically, to avoid the bias introduced by artificially setting perturbations, we first utilize the inherent frequency domain information of images, including both high and low frequencies, as the consistency constraint. Secondly, we incorporate supervision in the Encoder stage of model training to ensure that the model does not fail to learn due to the disruption of the original feature space caused by strong augmentation. Finally, extensive experimentation validates the effectiveness of our semi-supervised approach.

A Clustering-Based Color Reordering Method for Reversible data Hiding in Palette Images

A recent research work pointed out that the reversible data hiding algorithms proposed for gray-scale images can be implemented on the reconstructed palette images to improve embedding capacity and visual quality by reordering the color table. However, the reordering effect has a significant impact on performance improvement. Therefore, we propose a clustering-based color reordering method for reversible data hiding in palette images to improve the reordering effect and further enhance the performance. In this method, we first design a centroid initialization method to select the initial centroids and then exploit the K-means algorithm to generate (Formula presented.) clusters for the colors in the original color table. In the following, our proposed method, respectively, reorders the colors of these clusters by a greedy strategy and concatenates them into the reordered color table. Based on the relationship between the original and the reordered color tables, a novel index matrix can be reconstructed. Finally, state-of-the-art reversible data hiding algorithms can be implemented on the reconstructed index matrix for performance improvement. Since our proposed method improves the reordering effect, enhances the correlation of the reconstructed index matrix, and reduces the length of the encoded location map, the maximal embedding capacities and the visual quality under the fixed embedding capacities are improved. We conducted experiments on two image datasets and six standard images to verify that the performance improvement of our proposed reordering method is better than that of the state-of-the-art methods. © 2025 The Author(s). As a data-driven science, machine learning requires vast amounts of training data and computational resources. However, for highly privacy-sensitive data, it is crucial to protect the privacy of the data during both the training and utilization of machine learning models. In this paper, we propose a privacy-preserving machine learning approach using autoencoders and differential privacy mechanisms to safeguard data privacy while minimizing the impact on data availability. Specifically, we augment logistic regression and ResNet18 models with different architectures of autoencoders to perform data encryption? without compromising the machine learning tasks. Additionally, we employ differential privacy mechanisms to introduce gradient perturbations in the encoding part of the autoencoder, enhancing the algorithm’s security and further protecting data privacy. We also design the cosine similarity between the encoded and original data as a metric for evaluating data privacy, considering model performance, privacy budget, and data privacy collectively to balance data availability and privacy. Extensive experiments conducted on MNIST, CIFAR-10, PathMNIST, and BloodMNIST datasets demonstrate that for simple logistic regression models handling easily classifiable datasets, employing simple autoencoder structures can enhance classification accuracy, with significant performance impact after adding differential privacy. For ResNet18, utilizing convolutional autoencoders for data encryption generally has minimal impact on model classification performance and can even improve accuracy in most cases. Adding differential privacy has minor effects on model classification performance. Selecting appropriate model structures and privacy budgets for different usage scenarios can ensure both data availability and privacy. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Keyword-Oriented Multimodal Modeling for Euphemism Identification

Euphemism identification deciphers the true meaning of euphemisms, such as linking "weed" (euphemism) to "marijuana" (target keyword) in illicit texts, aiding content moderation and combating underground markets. While existing methods are primarily text-based, the rise of social media highlights the need for multimodal analysis, incorporating text, images, and audio. However, the lack of multimodal datasets for euphemisms limits further research. To address this, we regard euphemisms and their corresponding target keywords as keywords and first introduce a keyword-oriented multimodal corpus of euphemisms (KOM-Euph), involving three datasets (Drug, Weapon, and Sexuality), including text, images, and speech. We further propose a keyword-oriented multimodal euphemism identification method (KOM-EI), which uses cross-modal feature alignment and dynamic fusion modules to explicitly utilize the visual and audio features of the keywords for efficient euphemism identification. Extensive experiments demonstrate that KOM-EI outperforms state-of-the-art models and large language models, and show the importance of our multimodal datasets 1 Copyright © 2025, The Authors. Research on the Effect of Surface Roughness of Molybdenum Shield on the Sapphire Crystal Growth

The temperature field determines the environment in which sapphire crystals are grown, and the molybdenum shield is one of the core components to maintain a stable temperature field. In production, it has been found that the appearance of the molybdenum shield surface changes as the use time increases. In this study, the surface roughness and reflectivity of old and new molybdenum shield samples were tested, and it was found that the surface roughness of the old molybdenum shield was larger and the reflectivity was lower, and the reflectivity of the molybdenum shield was negatively correlated with its surface roughness. Based on the test data, the sapphire crystal growth process was simulated numerically, and the crystal growth experiments were carried out using the old and new molybdenum shield respectively. The old molybdenum shield with low reflectivity would increase the power of the single crystal furnace, change the radial and axis temperature distribution of the temperature field, and make the crystal-melt growth interface too flat and the stress value too large, resulting in increasing the risk of cracking and bubbles in the crystal, leading to the degradation of crystal quality. © 2025 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

The analysis of Cardiotocography (CTG) signals is often hindered by challenges such as limited data availability and label imbalance, which can undermine the performance of deep learning models. To address these issues, we present CTGDiff, a novel conditional diffusion model designed for generating synthetic Fetal Heart Rate (FHR) and Uterine Contraction (UC) signals. CTGDiff leverages both Phase-Rectified Signal Averaging (PRSA) spectrograms and UC as conditioning inputs for FHR, and integrates time encoding, condition generation from PRSA features, and residual blocks with dilated convolutions to capture both temporal dynamics and long-range dependencies. Extensive experiments, both qualitative and quantitative, demonstrate the model’s ability to synthesize high-quality CTG signals. In comparison with GANs and image-based diffusion models, CTGDiff achieves superior signal fidelity and distribution similarity for FHR, as indicated by metrics such as a 0.004 maximum mean deviation (MMD), 0.646 percent root mean square difference (PRD), 3.951 relative entropy (RE), and 0.291 Frechet distance (FD). Expert evaluations confirm that the model can generate both normal and abnormal CTG signals with high accuracy, conditioned on specific input data. These results underscore the potential of diffusion models for a wide range of applications in biomedical time series analysis, including signal synthesis, imputation, and noise reduction.

NSPG-Miner: Mining Repetitive Negative Sequential Patterns

Sequential pattern mining (SPM) with gap constraints (or repetitive SPM or tandem repeat discovery in bioinformatics) can find frequent repetitive subsequences satisfying gap constraints, which are called positive sequential patterns with gap constraints (PSPGs). However, classical SPM with gap constraints cannot find the frequent missing items in the PSPGs. To tackle this issue, this paper explores negative sequential patterns with gap constraints (NSPGs). We propose an efficient NSPG-Miner algorithm that can mine both frequent PSPGs and NSPGs simultaneously. To effectively reduce candidate patterns, we propose a pattern join strategy with negative patterns which can generate both positive and negative candidate patterns at the same time. To calculate the support (frequency of occurrence) of a pattern in each sequence, we explore a NegPair algorithm that employs a key-value pair array structure to deal with the gap constraints and the negative items simultaneously and can avoid redundant rescanning of the original sequence, thus improving the efficiency of the algorithm. To report the performance of NSPG-Miner, 11 competitive algorithms and 11 datasets are employed. The experimental results not only validate the effectiveness of the strategies adopted by NSPG-Miner, but also verify that NSPG-Miner can discover more valuable information than the state-ofthe-art algorithms. data aggregation (DA) plays an important role in conserving the limited resources and extending the network lifetime of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). Privacy preservation has garnered considerable attention and is considered one of the most viable schemes to address issues such as communication eavesdropping, information leakage, and unauthorized access in WSNs employing DA. In this paper, we propose an improved Secure Privacy-preserving data Aggregation (iSECPDA) mechanism. It dynamically selects cluster heads through an enhanced Stable Election Protocol (SEP), which considers the residual energy of sensor nodes to enhance network lifetime. In our proposed SEPPDA, we integrate interference information into the sensing data and ensure data transmission privacy through a proposed slicing mechanism. Theoretical analysis and simulation experiments demonstrate that iSECPDA exhibits significant performance improvements in terms of communication overhead and privacy preservation levels. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Fake news often spreads rapidly on social media in various forms, exposing users to a large amount of misinformation and disinformation. Recently, promising results have been achieved in fake news detection. However, most of the approaches only consider one-hop neighborhood information in cross-modal mapping relationships or focus mainly on pairwise interactions of multimodal fake news. However, the fine-grained feature mapping of multimodal fake news may go beyond binary relations. To address these issues, we propose a Multi-Hop Attention Diffusion Graph Neural Networks in this work to capture and complement the multivariate mapping relationships between fine-grained features, while extracting cross-modal higher-order alignment representations for multimodal fake news detection via cross-modal contrastive learning and modal matching. Extensive experiments on three public datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach in the multimodal fake news detection task.

AdvMap: Crafting Adversarial Maps to Counter AI Aimbot in First-Person Shooter Games

AI-based automatic aiming cheats (a.k.a., AI aimbots) have proliferated in first-person shooter (FPS) games, which grant malicious users an unfair gameplay advantage. Since AI aimbots operate independently of game data and are developed using object detection algorithms, they are difficult to detect with traditional anti-cheating methods. To actively counter AI aimbots, we propose AdvMap, which introduces invisible adversarial perturbations into game scene elements. In optimizing these adversarial perturbations, we design a mixture-of-misleading loss function that increases the total target confidence score within each misleading bounding box. It mitigates the risk of segment missing even when AdvMap is obscured, thereby enhancing the robustness. Besides, an L1-norm constraint with a small scale is employed during each update of the adversarial perturbations, which preserves the fidelity of the game scene. Additionally, to enable effective adaptation to interact with various elements within game environments, we introduce an Image-Subspace-Based Multi-Directional (ISMD) optimization strategy. It enables the adversarial perturbations to adaptively fit into each element by leveraging the mapping relationship between the game's 3D scenes and its corresponding 2D images. Furthermore, we construct a comprehensive benchmark, which includes various FPS games with different graphics styles and perspectives. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the efficacy of our method in countering various AI aimbot tools on different state-of-the-art object detection methods. © 2021 IEEE.
