Generalized-linear dynamical models (GLDMs) remain a widely-used framework within neuroscience for modeling time-series data, such as neural spiking activity or categorical decision outcomes. Whereas the standard usage of GLDMs is to model a single data source, certain applications require jointly modeling two generalized-linear time-series sources while also dissociating their shared and private dynamics. Most existing GLDM variants and their associated learning algorithms do not support this capability. Here we address this challenge by developing a multi-step analytical subspace identification algorithm for learning a GLDM that explicitly models shared vs. private dynamics within two generalized-linear time-series. In simulations, we demonstrate our algorithm's ability to dissociate and model the dynamics within two time-series sources while being agnostic to their respective observation distributions. In neural data, we consider two specific applications of our algorithm for modeling discrete population spiking activity with respect to a secondary time-series. In both synthetic and real data, GLDMs learned with our algorithm more accurately decoded one time-series from the other using lower-dimensional latent states, as compared to models identified using existing GLDM learning algorithms. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. In this paper, we exploit caches on intermediate nodes for QoE enhancement of multi-view video and audio transmission over ICN/CCN by controlling the content request start timing of consumers. We assume the selected single viewpoint transmission method;a consumer receives video and audio streams of a requested viewpoint. We perform a simple experiment with two consumers. When the consumers play video and audio with the time difference, we assess the effect of cached content by the former consumer's request on the output quality of the latter consumer. We deal with two types of viewpoint change strategies for the former consumer, which affect the efficiency of cache utilization. From the assessment results, we see that cache utilization has an important factor in enhancing QoE. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper investigates the effect of bitrate control methods on QoE of multi-view video and audio streaming with MPEG-DASH. We adopt three bitrate control methods for conventional single-view video streaming to the MVV-A system with MPEG-DASH. We conduct a subjective experiment changing available network bandwidth and investigate the effect of the methods on QoE. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper evaluates the QoE of video and audio transmission over a full-duplex wireless LAN with interference traffic through a computer simulation and a subjective experiment. We employ a simulation environment with a pair of audiovisual transmission and reception terminals and a pair of interference traffic transmission and reception ones. We investigate the effect of the transmission rate of interference traffic and communication distance in a wireless channel on the output quality of the video and audio stream at the reception terminal. We perform a subjective experiment with the output timing of video and audio obtained by the simulation. © 2023 IEEE.

The development of detection kidney function system at the first prototype have problem with the dependence on the internet, which make not practical in the development of the system and the initial design was not ergonomic. In this work the development of the second step is done with the improvement of accuracy compared with other methods. In this work the new design of the embedded system is also applied and in term of algorithm, the system applied for woman patient. Three different types of machine learning techniques, namely K-nearest neighbors (KNN), Decision Tree and Random Forest are applied and compared. The AI-based kidney failure severity identification system with KNN algorithm had an average accuracy of 90% and 91% for training and testing accuracy, respectively. The design of the embedded system also renews with stylist, simple and practical. © 2024 IEEE.

Fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) is a useful cryptographic primitive. It makes a third-party manipulate data in the ciphertext space and therefore is a key technology for privacy-preserving outsourcing services. Theoretically, FHE can evaluate any circuits. However, the implementation is not trivial. The reason it lacks lots of basic operations like conditional check and branch control. In this paper, we focus on extended Euclidean algorithm operation over FHE. We introduce the problems we encounter and show how we solve these issues. We implement our design and evaluate its performance on a real computer. The implementation of a patient monitoring system and infusion automation which aims to ensure regular and periodic monitoring of inpatient conditions are applied in this system. This embedded system is applied in hospitals and addresses the uneven distribution of healthcare workers in Indonesia, particularly in remote areas. Currently, manual checks by nurses can lead to errors and reduced patient comfort. The improvement supervision is developed in this work. The system monitored body temperature, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, heart rate, and automated infusions. All the embedded systems are connected to Internet of Things (IoT) and a real-time database accessible through an application and web. This system allows doctors and hospital authorities to make decisions based on patient condition history. The testing phase of the system shows four data acquisition devices (temperature, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and heart rate), an ESP 32, and Firebase as a database, have ability to capture and send real-time data every five seconds and can be accessed by doctors, patients, and hospital authorities. © 2024 IEEE.

Dynamic Sampling-Based Meta-Learning Using Multilingual Acoustic Data for Under-Resourced Speech Recognition

Under-resourced automatic speech recognition (ASR) has become an active field of research and has experienced significant progress during the past decade. However, the performance of under-resourced ASR trained by existing methods is still far inferior to high-resourced ASR for practical applications. In this paper, speech data from languages that share the most phonemes with the under-resourced language are selected as supplementary resources for meta-training based on the Model-Agnostic Meta-Learning (MAML) strategy. Besides supplementary language selection, this paper proposes a dynamic sampling method instead of the original random sampling method to select support and query sets for each task in MAML to improve meta-training performance. In this study, Taiwanese is selected as the under-resourced language, and the speech corpus of five languages, including Mandarin, English, Japanese, Cantonese, and Thai, are chosen as supplementary training data for acoustic model training. The proposed dynamic sampling approach uses phonemes, pronunciation, and speech recognition models as the basis to determine the proportion of each supplementary language to select helpful utterances for MAML. For evaluation, with the selected utterances from each supplementary language for meta-training, we obtained a Word Error Rate of 20.24% and a Syllable Error Rate of 8.35% for Taiwanese ASR, which were better than the baseline model (26.18% and 13.99%) using only the Taiwanese corpus and other methods. © 2013 IEEE.

Puerto Rico's electrical infrastructure powers over three million residents, yet energy consumption overcomes generation and continues to rise. This imbalance results in an unreliable power supply and frequent blackouts across the island. One solution to this issue is to increase generation capacity by adding new generating units and enhancing transmission networks, though this is expensive. Another approach is to promote the adoption of rooftop solar generation with storage systems through microgrids. Alternatively, demand-side management (DSM) offers a more cost-effective solution by regulating demand and reducing energy use at the consumer level. This paper explores the unique integration of power satisfaction within DSM strategies to reduce energy consumption while preserving user satisfaction. Utilizing an agent-based model to simulate household appliance behavior, we demonstrate how power satisfaction can reduce energy demand. This innovative approach offers a promising pathway toward a more resilient and sustainable energy future for Puerto Rico. © 2024 IEEE.

To address the limitations of typical coil detection systems and enhance the performance of traditional magnetic field imaging (MFI) systems, we propose a MFI system that uses a 4×4 array of anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) sensors. The core controller of the proposed system was designed using a pipelined parallelization algorithm and implemented on a high-speed field-programmable gate array (FPGA) in a fully hardware-based architecture. The designed MFI system can achieve parallel acquisition of magnetic field components from the 16-channel AMR sensor array, parallel data processing, parallel data transmission, and parallel computations in a single cycle of only 4 ms. Compared with typical detection systems, the proposed solution not only exhibits superior performance but can also provide dynamic visual representations of sensed information. © 1963-2012 IEEE.
