Online Queue-Aware Service Migration and Resource Allocation in Mobile Edge Computing

Mobile edge computing (MEC) integrated with network Functions Virtualization (NFV) helps run a wide range of services implemented by Virtual network Functions (VNFs) deployed at MEC networks. This emerging paradigm offers flexible edge resource management for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and improves service satisfaction of diverse applications. However, a critical challenge lies in processing extremely unpredictable and bursty traffic flow, especially in event-trigger sensing tasks. In this paper, we study queue-aware service migration and resource allocation in an MEC network, where different devices with different arrival patterns request different network services. To this end, we first formulate a novel long-term operation cost minimization problem subject to the stability of multiple queues by adopting a simultaneous migration scheme and determining resource allocation dynamically. To address the problem efficiently, we propose an online control framework to make decisions without any prior system information. We first adopt the Lyapunov optimization technique to decompose the long-term optimization problem into multi-per-slot subproblems. Then, we adopt a decoupled optimization algorithm based on the coordinate descent method and augmented Lagrangian method to solve the offline mixed integer non-linear programming (MINLP) subproblems. Extensive results reveal that the proposed online optimization framework can efficiently balance queue stability and cost consumption. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Recently, constructions of optimal linear codes from simplicial complexes have attracted much attention and some related nice works were presented. Let q be a prime power. In this paper, by using the simplicial complexes of Fmq with one single maximal element, we construct four families of linear codes over the ring Fq+uFq}( u2=0 ), which generalizes the results of Wu et al. (2020). The parameters and Lee weight distributions of these four families of codes are completely determined. Most notably, via the Gray map, we obtain several classes of optimal linear codes over Fq, including (near) Griesmer codes and distance-optimal codes. Moreover, it is shown that most of the Gray images are minimal or self-orthogonal codes which are useful in applications. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Neural network-driven parallel accelerated selective image encryption with semantic understanding

Existing batch image encryption schemes often directly encrypt images without considering their source. However, in real-life scenarios, these images are typically part of a larger collection stored in a directory on a computer or in the cloud. To efficiently protect those sensitive images distributed within the collection, we rethink selective image encryption (SIE) from the perspective of batch image encryption and proposes a novel SIE scheme using deep neural networks (DNN) and parallel computing. First, a DNN method is employed to identify sensitive images by analyzing their semantics. Next, a parallel cross-bitplane permutation algorithm is introduced to shuffle the retrieved images in bit-level. Then, a bi-directional diffusion strategy is employed to spread the encryption influence of a pixel to all images. Experimental results demonstrate the proposed scheme effectively understands the semantic of images, identifies sensitive images, and encrypts them with high permutation and diffusion efficiency. Further security analyses show that the proposed algorithm successfully resists various attacks with desired performance, including achieving high information entropy and low correlation coefficients in statistical analysis, and ideal values of the number of pixels changing rate (NPCR) and the unified averaged changing intensity (UACI) to resist differential attack, as well as high key sensitivity.

Many sophisticated cloud platforms are available to provide services such as storage and computation for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. However, with the concerns about the semi-trusted nature of cloud platforms, data security and privacy have been gaining broad attention. In this paper, we propose a blockchain-assisted verifiable data sharing scheme (BAV-DSS) for IoT. The BAV-DSS features fine-grained access control, fast encryption, and outsourced decryption with verifiability. Specifically, with the application of ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption (CP-ABE), flexible access control is enabled. Blockchain is employed to store public keys, generate account addresses, and perform data verification. Furthermore, the selective replayable chosen ciphertext attacks (sRCCA) security of BAV-DSS is proved, and the simulation results indicate that BAV-DSS obtains high efficiency and practicality compared to other schemes. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

In recent years, research has illuminated the potency of implicit data processing in enhancing user preferences. Nevertheless, barriers remain in breaking through the constraints of implicit information. This study aims to bridge this gap by firstly constructing a triangular stable node network model, tailored to manage implicit information with precision. Recognizing the challenge of pinpointing novel structures within large-scale graphs, we propose SLTSNN-a triangular stable node network based on self-supervised learning for personalized prediction. SLTSNN innovates by maximizing mutual information between graph-level and patch-level representations, while augmenting graph representations through extended enhanced representations. Additionally, it incorporates triangular data associations and introduces a triangular allocation attention network, which emphasizes strongly correlated preference features among similar users. Furthermore, SLTSNN employs contrastive learning to maximize mutual information between graph vectors and hidden representations, distinguishing between high-order global and local representations. The model's effectiveness in enhancing user preferences and capturing new graph structures is evidenced by its performance on hit rate and normalized discounted cumulative gain metrics across three datasets. © 2025 IEEE.

Multimodal sarcasm detection aims to identify whether utterances express sarcastic intentions contrary to their literal meaning based on multimodal information. However, existing methods fail to explore the model's "ability to understand" the semantics expressed by sentences in the image context from semantic diversity perspectives. In this paper, we propose a multi-view semantic awareness method, which concretizes semantics from multiple perspectives to improve the model's ability to capture different semantic features. Specifically, two learnable prefixes are attached to the text representation respectively to construct semantic representations from both the literal meaning and sarcastic intention perspectives. Then, image-text information is further fused through cross-attention to guide the semantic representation of different perspectives in the image context. Finally, the semantics expressed by prefixes are strengthened through KL divergence, thereby encouraging the model to capture two distinctive semantic features. Experiments on benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. © 2025 IEEE.

DRSC: Dual-Reweighted Siamese Contrastive Learning network for Cross-Domain Rotating Machinery Fault Diagnosis With Multi-Source Domain Imbalanced Data

To enhance the reliability of rotating machinery, cross-domain fault diagnosis becomes vital for detecting faults under unknown operating conditions. However, multi-source domain imbalanced data present significant challenges, as divergent label distributions across domains cause complex domain-class shifts and degrade the performance of cross-domain fault diagnosis. Moreover, diagnostic models often struggle to learn features from minority classes due to label imbalance within each domain, which may degrade the performance in diagnosing these minority classes. To address these challenges, we propose a Dual-Reweighted Siamese Contrastive learning network (DRSC) for cross-domain fault diagnosis with multi-source domain imbalanced data. In DRSC, we design a Siamese feature extractor based on a wide-kernel convolutional neural network to capture short-term characteristics and leverage the convenience in extracting domain-invariant features. Subsequently, to alleviate domain-class shifts, we design a reweighted contrastive domain-class alignment mechanism that strategically pulls domain-class pairs together while pushing other health conditions away. Finally, to enable the diagnostic model to learn from minority health conditions, a reweighted health condition classifier is developed by assigning higher weights to the minority classes. Evaluation results on two public datasets illustrate DRSC outperforms comparison models in cross-domain fault diagnosis. © 2014 IEEE.

Joint Secure and Covert Communications for Active STAR-RIS Assisted ISAC systems

This paper investigates the design of jointly supporting physical layer security (PLS) and covert communications (CCs) in an active simultaneously transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (a-STAR-RIS) assisted integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system. Due to the unified waveform design of ISAC signals, we consider a challenging scenario with two targets being suspicious attackers, where one warden target potentially detects the confidential transmission behavior of covert users and another eavesdropper target attempts to intercept the broadcasted confidential information of security users. We investigate the joint beamforming design at the base station (BS) and the a-STAR-RIS to achieve a high-quality sensing beampattern while meeting covertness and security communication requirements. (1) For the ideal scenario with perfect channel state information (CSI) and precise target locations, we propose an alternative optimization (AO) method to address the optimization problem involving highly coupled variables. Specifically, the optimal beamforming design at the BS is handled using the semi-definite relaxation (SDR) technique, while the beamforming design at the a-STAR-RIS is addressed through a penalty-based iterative algorithm. (2) A more practical case with uncertain target locations and imperfect CSI is considered to achieve a robust beamforming design, where the non-deterministic outage probability constraints are effectively transformed by employing the Bernstein-type inequality. Numerical results demonstrate the superiority of the a-STAR-RIS over the baseline cases and certify that the proposed algorithms can effectively balance the tradeoff among the sensing quality, covert and secure communication requirements. Besides, results also show that the proposed robust beamforming scheme can construct adequate sensing beampattern, even with imperfect CSI and uncertain target locations. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Multimodal dialogue emotion recognition integrates data from multiple modalities to accurately identify emotional states in conversations. However, differences in expression and information density across modalities complicate the fusion of features. Traditional methods may introduce redundant information from other utterances, reducing the accuracy of emotion recognition. Existing one-hot labels often fail to capture the full range of emotional expressions, leading to biased results. To address these issues, we propose a model that fuses different modalities within the same utterance to avoid redundancy. It employs a progressive classification process, refining emotion recognition from coarse to fine granularity. Additionally, we use emotion polarity probabilities as weights for fine-grained classification and introduce a multimodal information-rich label that considers both the data and their interactions. Experiments on IEMOCAP and MELD datasets demonstrate the model’s effectiveness, significantly improving dialog emotion recognition accuracy. Our code is available at https://***/r/LOCG-188E.

Cache side-channel attacks based on speculative executions are powerful and difficult to mitigate. Existing hardware defense schemes often require additional hardware data structures, data movement operations and/or complex logical computations, resulting in excessive overhead of both processor performance and hardware resources. To this end, this paper proposes SpecLFB, which utilizes the microarchitecture component, Line-Fill-Buffer, integrated with a proposed mechanism for load security check to prevent the establishment of cache side channels in speculative executions. To ensure the correctness and immediacy of load security check, a structure called ROB unsafe mask is designed for SpecLFB to track instruction state. To further reduce processor performance overhead, SpecLFB narrows down the protection scope of unsafe speculative loads and determines the time at which they can be deprotected as early as possible. SpecLFB has been implemented in the open-source RISC-V core, SonicBOOM, as well as in Gem5. For the enhanced SonicBOOM, its register-transfer-level (RTL) code is generated, and an FPGA hardware prototype burned with the core and running a Linux-kernel-based operating system is developed. Based on the evaluations in terms of security guarantee, performance overhead, and hardware resource overhead through RTL simulation, FPGA prototype experiment, and Gem5 simulation, it shows that SpecLFB effectively defends against attacks. It leads to a hardware resource overhead of only 0.6% and the performance overhead of only 1.85% and 3.20% in the FPGA prototype experiment and Gem5 simulation, respectively.
