This paper presents a Scientific Literature Management Platform (SLMP, demo link1 ) based on large language models (LLMs). The platform consists of four modules: literature management, literature extraction, literature retrieval, and question answering. The core techniques used to support the four modules across the platform include a fine-tuned model PaperExtractGPT and a continual pre-training model ChatPaperGPT based on ChatGLM2 using the data from scientific research literature, responsible for information extraction and communication, respectively. Due to their powerful capabilities in natural language understanding and generation, LLMs can understand complex scientific concepts based on the provided contexts, and thus generate high-quality texts and conduct in-depth information retrieval and question answering. Our platform can help researchers manage and utilize literature more effectively and efficiently for finding relevant literature, obtaining required information, and generating new knowledge. © 2024 IEEE.

In the realm of recommendation systems, achieving real-time performance in embedding similarity tasks is often hindered by the limitations of traditional Top-K sparse matrix-vector multiplication (SpMV) methods, which suffer from high latency due to inefficient memory access patterns. This paper identifies these critical gaps and introduces AccelES, a novel approach that significantly enhances the efficiency of Top-K SpMV. Our method employs a two-stage calculation scheme: the first stage utilizes a compact, low-bit dataset to quickly identify the most relevant entries, while the second stage performs full-precision calculations solely on this pruned subset, thereby minimizing computational overhead. Furthermore, AccelES incorporates innovative matrix representations, Ultra-CSR and Random-CSR, which optimize memory bandwidth utilization. Experimental results demonstrate that AccelES accelerates performance, surpassing state-of-the-art FPGA, GPU, and CPU solutions by factors of 3.4×, 2.5×, and 153.3×, respectively, under controlled conditions. These advancements not only enhance processing speed but also significantly improve real-time performance in recommendation systems, establishing AccelES as a pivotal contribution to the field of Top-K sparse matrix-vector multiplication. © 2025 IEEE.

Accurate identification of plant diseases is important for ensuring the safety of agricultural *** neural networks(CNNs)and visual transformers(VTs)can extract effective representations of images and have been widely used for the intelligent recognition of plant disease ***,CNNs have excellent local perception with poor global perception,and VTs have excellent global perception with poor local *** makes it difficult to further improve the performance of both CNNs and VTs on plant disease recognition *** this paper,we propose a local and global feature-aware dual-branch network,named LGNet,for the identification of plant *** specifically,we first design a dual-branch structure based on CNNs and VTs to extract the local and global ***,an adaptive feature fusion(AFF)module is designed to fuse the local and global features,thus driving the model to dynamically perceive the weights of different ***,we design a hierarchical mixed-scale unit-guided feature fusion(HMUFF)module to mine the key information in the features at different levels and fuse the differentiated information among them,thereby enhancing the model's multiscale perception ***,extensive experiments were conducted on the Al Challenger 2018 dataset and the self-collected corn disease(SCD)*** experimental results demonstrate that our proposed LGNet achieves state-of-the-art recognition performance on both the Al Challenger 2018 dataset and the SCD dataset,with accuracies of 88.74％and 99.08％,respectively.

Among the plethora of IoT(Internet of Things)applications,the smart home is one of the ***,the rapid development of the smart home has also made smart home systems a target for ***,researchers have made many efforts to investigate and enhance the security of smart home *** a more secure smart home ecosystem,we present a detailed literature review on the security of smart home ***,we categorize smart home systems’security issues into the platform,device,and communication *** exploring the research and specific issues in each of these security areas,we summarize the root causes of the security flaws in today's smart home systems,which include the heterogeneity of internal components of the systems,vendors'customization,the lack of clear responsibility boundaries and the absence of standard security ***,to better understand the security of smart home systems and potentially provide better protection for smart home systems,we propose research directions,including automated vulnerability mining,vigorous security checking,and data-driven security analysis.

Beyond the text detection and recognition tasks in image text spotting, video text spotting presents an augmented challenge with the inclusion of tracking. While advanced end-to-end trainable methods have shown commendable performance, the pursuit of multi-task optimization may pose the risk of producing sub-optimal outcomes for individual tasks. In this paper, we identify a main bottleneck in the state-of-the-art video text spotter: the limited recognition capability. In response to this issue, we propose to efficiently turn an off-the-shelf query-based image text spotter into a specialist on video and present a simple baseline termed GoMatching, which focuses the training efforts on tracking while maintaining strong recognition performance. To adapt the image text spotter to video datasets, we add a rescoring head to rescore each detected instance's confidence via efficient tuning, leading to a better tracking candidate pool. Additionally, we design a long-short term matching module, termed LST-Matcher, to enhance the spotter's tracking capability by integrating both long- and short-term matching results via Transformer. Based on the above simple designs, GoMatching delivers new records on ICDAR15-video, DSText, BOVText, and our proposed novel test set with arbitrary-shaped text termed ArTVideo, which demonstrates GoMatching's capability to accommodate general, dense, small, arbitrary-shaped, Chinese and English text scenarios while saving considerable training budgets. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. Federated learning allows decentralized model training while preserving data privacy. However, Non-IID data poses significant challenges, leading to performance degradation and increased communication overhead. This paper introduces FedHKD, a hierarchical FL algorithm that integrates client clustering and knowledge distillation to address Non-IID challenges. By clustering clients with similar data distributions and transferring knowledge across clusters, FedHKD improves model accuracy while reducing communication costs. Experimental results on Fashion-MNIST and CIFAR-10 datasets demonstrate up to 14.24% improvement in accuracy and a substantial reduction in communication overhead, proving its effectiveness in Non-IID environments. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Federated learning-based Named Entity Recognition (FNER) has attracted widespread attention through decentralized training on local clients. However, most FNER models assume that entity types are pre-fixed, so in practical applications, local clients constantly receive new entity types without enough storage to access old entity types, resulting in severe forgetting on previously learned knowledge. In addition, new clients collecting only new entity types may join the global training of FNER irregularly, further exacerbating catastrophic forgetting. To overcome the above challenges, we propose a Forgetting-Subdued Learning (FSL) model which solves the forgetting problem on old entity types from both intra-client and inter-client two aspects. Specifically, for intra-client aspect, we propose a prototype-guided adaptive pseudo labeling and a prototypical relation distillation loss to surmount catastrophic forgetting of old entity types with semantic shift. Furthermore, for inter-client aspect, we propose a task transfer detector. It can identify the arrival of new entity types that are protected by privacy and store the latest old global model for relation distillation. Qualitative experiments have shown that our model has made significant improvements compared to several baseline methods. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Modernization and intense industrialization have led to a substantial improvement in people’s quality of life. However, the aspiration for achieving an improved quality of life results in environmental contamination. A primary consequence of environmental degradation is air pollution, resulting from rising levels of poisonous chemicals in the atmosphere, which may induce detrimental health conditions in humans. It is harmful to both humans and agriculture. Given that the effects of air pollution on plants may not be readily apparent, it is important to analyse the necessary data and compute the outcomes. Farmers prioritise on pests and plant diseases, frequently neglecting the detrimental impacts of air pollution. Some plant species can withstand high amounts of pollution from suspended particulate matter and accumulated gases, while others are more susceptible to harm. Therefore, plants’ reaction to air pollution is influenced by the kind of harmful compounds, their levels, and the plant’s susceptibility to them. The LSTM +CNN Proposed Ensemble method may be used to analyse the impact of air pollution on agriculture by examining trends in crop production over time and predicting which crop is more resistant based on the pollution data. The initiative created for this aim may assist farmers in determining the most suitable crop to cultivate in their fields to minimize the impact of air pollution on agricultural yield. The findings show deep learning algorithms correctly predict hourly pollutant concentrations such as carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, ground-level ozone, and particulate matter 2.5, along with the hourly Air Quality Index (AQI) for California. A proposed model used test RMSE values as a measure to evaluate prediction performance, achieving the best possible results. © 2025 SCPE.
