Air Pollution Monitoring By Integrating Local and Global Information in Self-Adaptive Multiscale Transform Domain

As the deadliest form of pollution, air pollution had a prolonged severe damage to the human health and life safety of nearly 99% of the world's population. Facing to the problem that billions of tons of pollutants discharged into the air per year by industrial activities, this paper proposed a novel image-based air pollution monitor (IAPM) by incorporating local and global information in the self-adaptive multiscale transform domain, so as to achieve the timely and effective leakage detection of typical air pollutants from a single image. To be specific, this paper first developed a screen-shaped module according to two significant findings in visual neuroscience, which include the high sensitivity of human eyes to horizontal and vertical stimuli and the center-surround inhibition, by designing and fusing the square module, horizontal strip module and vertical strip module parallelly for simulating the behaviour of human eyes to extract local features. Second, the learnable weights and proportional mapping were applied to incorporate the screen-shaped module and lightweight vision transformer as backbone, towards more richly exploiting and fusing local and global information just as the way a brain perceives external stimuli. Third, a new self-adaptive multiscale transform domain method was devised based on two motivations from the visual characteristics of multiscale perception and the brain characteristics of self-adaptive domain transform to modify the backbone by using the operations of pooling and pointwise convolution. Extensive experiments implemented on the datasets of carbon particulate matters and ethylene leakage confirmed the superior monitoring performance of the proposed IAPM model beyond the state-of-the-art (SOTA) peers by an accuracy gain of about 4%. Furthermore, the proposed IAPM model only required 0.089 GFLOPs and 0.15 million model parameters, remarkably outperforming SOTA competitors in computational efficiency and storage resources. © 1999-2

As a crucial member of the evolutionary computation (EC), ant colony optimization (ACO) converges to the optimal result through a continuous process of iterative optimization. However, determining the convergence status of an ant colony remains a challenging task without well-established methods. To this end, this paper proposes a global evaluation indicator—average absolute eigenvalue of pheromone matrix (AAEPM) by constructing a pheromone matrix and analyzing its eigenvalue variations. This indicator aims to assess the convergence status of the ant colony during the evolutionary process. Experimental results show that the AAEPM is correlated with the convergence status of ACO and is not significantly influenced by algorithm parameters and problem scale.

Cortical surface registration plays a crucial role in coordinating individual cortical functions and anatomical features, serving as a fundamental step in cortical surface analysis. Its aim is to align the anatomical or functional regions of different individuals, which is of great importance for neuroimaging studies across different populations. Currently, cortical surface registration techniques based on classical methods have been well developed. However, a key issue with classical registration methods is that for each pair of images to be registered, it is necessary to search for the optimal transformation in the deformation space according to a specific optimization algorithm until the similarity measure function converges, which cannot meet the requirements of real-time and high-precision in medical image registration. With the spectacular success of deep learning in the field of computer vision, researching cortical surface image registration techniques based on deep learning models has become a new direction. But so far, there are still only a few studies on cortical surface image registration based on deep learning. Moreover, although deep learning methods theoretically have stronger representation capabilities, surpassing the most advanced classical methods in registration accuracy and distortion control remains a challenge. Therefore, to address this challenge, this paper constructs a deep learning model to study the technology of cortical surface image registration. The specific work is as follows: (1) An unsupervised cortical surface registration network based on a multi-scale cascaded structure is designed, and a convolution method based on spherical harmonic transformation is introduced to register cortical surface data. In the field of cognitive healthcare Internet of Things (CH-IoT), there is a strong demand for reliable and minimally intrusive smart gadgets that consistently acquire, analyse, and obtain the confidential health details of the individual. In fact, CH-IoT is empowered with artificial intelligence (AI) to transmute a fewer operational inputs into actionable, intelligent actions through the digitization of medical healthcare data. However, these systems consume more network complexity, interaction, and overhead costs, while inducing a blend of susceptibility and confidentiality issues. In support of this complexity, these cognitive systems need centralised data collection and to be gathered and analysed, which affects scalability issues and adds fuel to privacy and security breaches. Even though it possesses greater intricacy in its potential application, a substantial factor is maintaining the private preservation of healthcare data against the growing attacks. Thus, this paper presents a distributed privacy-preserving, chaotic encryption-based framework that can be deployed for CH-IoT systems to safeguard sensitive data against message modification, denial of service (DoS), and man-in-the-middle attacks (MIM), guaranteeing privacy and data integrity. The proposed framework integrated the federated learning layered hybrid chaotic encryption strategies by investigating through examination the learning infrastructure of convolutional neural networks (CNN). In the examination, the complete framework was carried out in the Tensorflow Federated Learning Libraries (FLL), and numerous performance metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, f1-score, transmission efficiency, and overhead ratio were measured and contrasted with the various existing frameworks. Existing multimodal recommendation research still faces some challenges, such as not being able to fully mine the implicit relevance information of neighbor nodes, and the unreasonable weight allocation to imbalanced nodes. To address the aforementioned challenges, this paper introduces a new multimodal recommendation model called NS-MAR+. Specifically, the model firstly constructs a neighbor similarity graph convolutional network to capture the implicit relevance information and reasonably assigns the attention weights through the graph attention mechanism. Secondly, the model introduces a modal alignment and fusion mechanism by using a multilayer perceptron (MLP) to map image and text features into a shared space for comparison and fusion. In addition, the model constructs a user co-interaction graph and an item semantic graph based on the original information and performs graph convolution operations to enhance the preference information of users and items, and to better capture the interactions and internal features between users and items. Finally, MLP is employed to aggregate user and item representations and predict personalized recommendation rankings. To validate the experiment's efficacy, this paper compares with several leading multimodal recommendation models on public datasets with a performance improvement of 1% to 3%. The experimental outcomes indicate that the model in this paper has good superiority and accuracy in multimodal recommendation tasks.

In recent years, research has illuminated the potency of implicit data processing in enhancing user preferences. Nevertheless, barriers remain in breaking through the constraints of implicit information. This study aims to bridge this gap by firstly constructing a triangular stable node network model, tailored to manage implicit information with precision. Recognizing the challenge of pinpointing novel structures within large-scale graphs, we propose SLTSNN— a triangular stable node network based on self-supervised learning for personalized prediction. SLTSNN innovates by maximizing mutual information between graph-level and patch-level representations, while augmenting graph representations through extended enhanced representations. Additionally, it incorporates triangular data associations and introduces a triangular allocation attention network, which emphasizes strongly correlated preference features among similar users. Furthermore, SLTSNN employs contrastive learning to maximize mutual information between graph vectors and hidden representations, distinguishing between high-order global and local representations. The model’s effectiveness in enhancing user preferences and capturing new graph structures is evidenced by its performance on hit rate and normalized discounted cumulative gain metrics across three datasets.

Nowadays, with advanced information technologies deployed citywide, large data volumes and powerful computational resources are intelligentizing modern city development. As an important part of intelligent transportation, route recommendation and its applications are widely used, directly influencing citizens' travel habits. Developing smart and efficient travel routes based on big data (possibly multi-modal) has become a central challenge in route recommendation research. Our survey offers a comprehensive review of route recommendation work based on urban computing. It is organized by the following three parts: 1) Methodology-wise. We categorize a large volume of classic methods and modern deep learning methods. Also, we discuss their historical relations and reveal the edge-cutting progress. 2) Application-wise. We present numerous novel applications related to route commendation within urban computing scenarios. 3) We discuss current problems and challenges and envision several promising research directions. We believe that this survey can help relevant researchers quickly familiarize themselves with the current state of route recommendation research and then direct them to future research trends. DFGET: Displacement-Field Assisted Graph Energy Transmitter for Gland Instance Segmentation

Gland instance segmentation is an essential but challenging task in the diagnosis and treatment of adenocarcinoma. The existing models usually achieve gland instance segmentation through multi-task learning and boundary loss constraint. However, how to deal with the problems of gland adhesion and inaccurate boundary in segmenting the complex samples remains a challenge. In this work, we propose a displacement-field assisted graph energy transmitter (DFGET) framework to solve these problems. Specifically, a novel message passing manner based on anisotropic diffusion is developed to update the node features, which can distinguish the isomorphic graphs and improve the expressivity of graph nodes for complex samples. Using such graph framework, the gland semantic segmentation map and the displacement field (DF) of the graph nodes are estimated with two graph network branches. With the constraint of DF, a graph cluster module based on diffusion theory is presented to improve the intra-class feature consistency and inter-class feature discrepancy, as well as to separate the adherent glands from the semantic segmentation maps. Extensive comparison and ablation experiments on the GlaS dataset demonstrate the superiority of DFGET and effectiveness of the proposed anisotropic message passing manner and clustering method. Compared to the best comparative model, DFGET increases the object-Dice and object-F1 score by 2.5% and 3.4% respectively, while decreases the object-HD by 32.4%, achieving state-of-the-art performance. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

Ultrasound images are vital for medical diagnostics but often suffer from information loss and blurred details due to limitations in imaging systems and sensor technologies. Many researchers have proposed super-resolution algorithms to enhance medical images. But existing super-resolution methods struggle with the uneven distribution of noise and clarity. To address this, we propose a super-resolution algorithm for medical images based on multi-scale feature aggregation Leveraging the architecture of Unet as our primary framework, our method enhances output details through multi-scale hole convolutions. Taking into consideration the characteristics of ultrasonic images, we propose a frequency domain-based module to enhances edge information while effectively denoising the image. Furthermore, to improve the quality of the output images, we introduce an image processing module grounded in global information. The module ensures clarity while considering the overarching context, thereby preserving global consistency and enhancing output quality. We experiment on three datasets to demonstrate the effectiveness of our model. Additionally, significant improvements in medical image segmentation are observed, proving the practicability of our proposed approach.

Multilevel Perception Boundary-guided Network for Breast Lesion Segmentation in Ultrasound Images

Automatic segmentation of breast tumors from the ultrasound images is essential for the subsequent clinical diagnosis and treatment plan. Although the existing deep learning-based methods have achieved significant progress in automatic segmentation of breast tumor, their performance on tumors with similar intensity to the normal tissues is still not pleasant, especially for the tumor boundaries. To address this issue, we propose a PBNet composed by a multilevel global perception module (MGPM) and a boundary guided module (BGM) to segment breast tumors from ultrasound images. Specifically, in MGPM, the long-range spatial dependence between the voxels in a single level feature maps are modeled, and then the multilevel semantic information is fused to promote the recognition ability of the model for non-enhanced tumors. In BGM, the tumor boundaries are extracted from the high-level semantic maps using the dilation and erosion effects of max pooling, such boundaries are then used to guide the fusion of low and high-level features. Moreover, to improve the segmentation performance for tumor boundaries, a multi-level boundary-enhanced segmentation (BS) loss is proposed. The extensive comparison experiments on both publicly available dataset and in-house dataset demonstrate that the proposed PBNet outperforms the state-of-the-art methods in terms of both qualitative visualization results and quantitative evaluation metrics, with the Dice score, Jaccard coefficient, Specificity and HD95 improved by 0.70%, 1.1%, 0.1% and 2.5% respectively. In addition, the ablation experiments validate that the proposed MGPM is indeed beneficial for distinguishing the non-enhanced tumors and the BGM as well as the BS loss are also helpful for refining the segmentation contours of the tumor.
