In this paper, the paralleled VSGs system's transient stability is researched with consideration of large damping effects introduced by VSG. Firstly, the paralleled model considering damping items is established, and relative motions in uniform and nonuniform damping cases, are described by second-order and third-order model, respectively. On this basis, the behavior of linear system at SEP and UEP is firstly investigated with different damping selected, and it's found the stable trajectory may exceed UEP during transient process. Furthermore, the transient stability is discussed for uniform damping cases and nonuniform ones, separately. It's found the damping items affect the equivalent parameters of swing equations, which further infect the transient stability. Besides, time-domain method is adopted for nonuniform damping system, and three instability modes are discovered with damping coefficients vary. This paper shows that the damping effect introduced by VSGs have a great impact on paralleled system's transient behaviors. © 2023 IEEE.

In order to meet the higher demand for renewable energy storage system, modular parallel connection three-level converters are widely adopted. The parallel operation introduces circulating currents and the deviation of neutral point (NP) potential increases the complexity of circulation problems. This paper concerns both the ZSCCs and the NP potential deviation in parallel three-level converter system. Specific expressions of ZSCCs and NP potential deviation with SVPWM are given and it's proved that under identical working conditions, the ZSCC suppression and the NP potential balance will not have significant effect on each other. Furthermore, control strategies are given to suppress ZSCC and balance NP potential and verified in simulation and experiment. © 2023 IEEE.

As the high-quality flexible resource of the grid, electric vehicles (EVs) can provide multiple auxiliary services for the grid at the same time. However, due to the one-way charging and discharging of EVs, as well as the limitation of power and capacity, which may cause availability conflicts when EVs participate in different auxiliary services simultaneously. This paper focuses on the analysis of the conflict mechanism of EVs participating in the secondary frequency regulation and peak shaving ancillary services at the same time. The impact mechanism between different auxiliary services in this conflict mode is revealed from the two aspects of limit conflict and charging and discharging instruction conflict, and the results of availability conflict of the two types of auxiliary services are verified and analyzed through simulation examples. © 2023 IEEE.

In recent years, STATCOM/BESS (Static Synchronous Compensator/Battery Energy Storage system) has received widespread attention due to its superior power four-quadrant output characteristics. To address the problem of delayed reactive power withdrawal and voltage fluctuations in compensating traditional DC transmission under large disturbances, a fast and effective outer-loop control switching strategy has been proposed. Under small disturbances, a constant bus voltage control method based on PI control is adopted to provide real-time and complete compensation of the receiving-end voltage, maintaining the receiving-end bus voltage at the rated value. Under large disturbances, the control mode is switched to open-loop control with constant reactive power, without the delay of the PI loop, enabling timely withdrawal of reactive power upon fault clearance and ensuring stable receiving-end voltage. The proposed control strategy was verified by simulation on the PSCAD/EMTDC platform, demonstrating its feasibility and effectiveness. © 2023 SPIE.

At present, there is still a gap between domestic BOPP films and imported products in terms of long-term thermal stability. In order to systematically study the difference in long-term thermal stability between domestic and imported BOPP films, BOPP films with different particles and different drawing processes at home and abroad were selected as the research object, and 240h electrothermal aging test was carried out at 120 and 20kV/mm. The electrical properties of four BOPP films before and after electrothermal aging were analyzed by DC breakdown and conductance tests. Compared with the imported BOPP film, the domestic film isoptric, crystallinity is lower, the intermolecular chain force is weak, under the action of long-term thermal aging, the conductivity of domestic and foreign films has increased, the breakdown field strength has decreased, but compared with the domestic film, the stronger intermolecular chain force in the imported film, the trap density in polypropylene is reduced, so that it has better long-term thermal stability. © 2023 IEEE.

Transformer is the key apparatus of the power system, and its operational reliability is directly related to the stability of the power grid. Accurately predicting the future health state of transformers can reserve enough time for formulating outage maintenance and power dispatching plans. The existing transformer health state prediction methods are based on the structure of 'predict-diagnose', which is the superposition of two local optimal methods, with error superposition. To fill this gap, a transformer health state prediction method based on multi-attention coupling learning is proposed in this paper. The 'situational quantity' integrating the transformer operation state change relationship, the correlation relationship between state quantities, the mapping relationship between the state quantity and the state, the fuzzy relationship between the evaluation result and the actual state, and the traditional expert experience is proposed. Then, the structural optimization attention (SOA) model applicable to 'situational quantity' is proposed, and various relationships are treated as individual attention. All kinds of attention are coupled and constrained in the SOA to realize the unification of the prediction process and diagnosis process, obtain the global optimization of prediction and diagnosis, and the problem of error superposition is solved. The actual fault case verification results show that the accuracy of the proposed SOA prediction model can reach 96.33%, which is significantly better than the traditional methods. © 2023 IEEE.

Electric equipment monitoring is essential to ensure the secure operation and maintenance in high-voltage substations. To support accurate electric equipment monitoring, multi-spectral technology is emerging as an advanced method. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) equipped with multi-spectral imaging camera can provide intelligent monitoring through the data sensing and communication. In this paper, we focus on the integrated sensing and communication joint optimization problem. The objective is to maximize the average amount of image data sensed by UAV through jointly optimizing sensing and communication, i.e., image acquisition frequency, image depth, and transmission power. We propose a deep Q network-based integrated sensing and communication joint optimization algorithm for multi-spectral electric equipment monitoring named DIGITAL to solve it. DIGITAL can learn optimal monitoring strategy under complex and dynamic environment of high-voltage substations. Moreover, DIGITAL also realizes energy awareness through the dynamic adjustment of optimization strategy based on energy consumption as well as harvested energy. The superiority of DIGITAL is verified through simulations. © 2023 IEEE.

Compared with power frequency AC transmission and DC transmission, low frequency AC transmission has its unique advantages, which is suitable for long distance transmission, large scale renewable generation and regulation of regional power grid. The fault characteristics affect the system design and operation, which is necessary to study. From the perspective of system topology and converter control, the characteristics of three-phase short circuit fault are analyzed and a simulation model is built on PSCAD for verification in this paper. After a fault occurs, it can be divided into two stages before and after the control responses. Before the control responses, the overvoltage is generated between the terminals of branch reactors and modular capacitors discharges. After the control responses, system characteristics are related to fault location and control strategy. The control and modulation of the converter can make the low frequency and power frequency systems interact with each other. This study can provide a reference for the parameters of equipment and converter control, as well as fault protection in low frequency systems. © 2023 IEEE.

With the centralized access of large-scale new energy to the power grid, the risk for the second line of defense of the new power system is prominent. The accuracy and timeliness of security and stability control strategies are challenged. In this study, an architecture of security and stability control panoramic mirror system is proposed. A new control strategy and calculation method are used to analyze the security and stability characteristics for new energy power grid. Furthermore, a real-time closed-loop dynamic test based on Real Time Digital simulation system (RTDS) for the panoramic mirror system is completed. The results show that the real-time simulation matching strategies are effective and correct.

Biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film are generally impregnated in benzyltoluene, which constitute insulating medium of high-voltage capacitors. In order to investigate the electrical properties of impregnated film, this paper builds a test platform for the electrical properties of polypropylene film, and selects key electrical properties such as relative dielectric constant, dielectric loss and breakdown field strength. Testing five thicknesses of film to obtain the laws of the influence of impregnation state on electrical parameters at different temperatures and field strengths. The test result shows that: 1) Dielectric constant of the impregnated film increases from 2.25 to 2.27 at room temperature, the dielectric loss increases from 1.39×10-4 to 2.7×10-4, the average value of DC breakdown field strength of the 13 μm film increases from 619 MV/m to 683 MV/m, the average value of AC breakdown field strength increases from 420 to 460 MV/m. 2) Impregnated film is more affected by the temperature and field strength. The temperature changes from 293K to 353K, the growth rate of dielectric constant increases from 0.5% to 2% after impregnation, and the dielectric loss increases from 1 to 1.5 times. 3) Breakdown field strength increases and then decreases with the thickness, and 13μm film has the highest breakdown field strength. © 2023 IEEE.
