Various techniques of autostereoscopic three-dimensional (3D) display for displaying real 3D information have been investigated in recent years. We have performed research and application of integral videography (IV), which is an animated display technique based on the principle of integral photography (IP). Although IV and IP are ideal ways to display 3D images, their spatial viewing resolution and high-speed image rendering algorithm must be improved. The pixel pitch of the display and the lens pitch are the main factors affecting IV image quality. We improved the image quality by increasing the number and density of the pixels. Parallel image processing and displaying method were also developed for animated IV imaging. We have created a scalable high-resolution image using multiple projection and project it onto a small screen to achieve high-density pixels using long-focal-length projection optics. Furthermore, an image calibration method was developed for geometrical correction and color modulation to generate seamless IV images. We evaluated the developed device by displaying an X-ray computed tomography (CT) image. Measurement of the geometrical accuracy of the reproduced IV images demonstrated that the spatial resolution of the display system matched that by theoretical analysis. Experimental results showed that our technique is very effective in obtaining 3D animated images with practical spatial resolution. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

In many flood simulations,critical rainfall duration,defined as duration of rainfall which causes a critical flood,is assumed to be ***,in some area,the critical rainfall duration varies upon its magnitude and assuming the fixed critical rainfall duration may underestimate an extreme peak *** middle and lower Yom basin,Thailand,is one of the areas where a larger flood appears to coincide with longer critical rainfall *** this study,we have investigated the variation of critical rainfall duration in that *** conceptual model was developed from HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS *** upstream and downstream parts of the area were calibrated ***,uniform 2-,5-,and 10-year rainfalls with 24-,48-,and 72-hour durations were *** model successfully reproduced the variation of critical rainfall duration as 48 hours for 2-and 5-year rainfalls and 72 hours for 10-year *** variation is caused by a high percolation rate over the upstream *** this percolation,some portion of rainfall over the upstream part is ***,most of the flood water comes from the downstream part which has short travel ***,when the rainfall is larger,the influence of percolation is less.

We have utilized ZnCl 2 -dimethylsulfone (DMSO 2 ) as the electrolyte with added CoCl 2 and GdCl 3 for electrodepositing a magnetic film. Moreover, the controlled potential method was utilized for film deposition. The voltammogram revealed that the reduction of Co-Zn-Gd film can be achieved by applying a potential in the range from -0.1 to -0.5 volts. From the results of AGM analyses, a high squareness value (Mr/Ms = 0.923) of the Co-Zn-Gd film at -0.3 volt was observed. In previous research, perpendicular magnetic materials have been applied to magnetic optic (MO) media, magnetic recording heads, and perpendicular magnetic tunneling junction (pMTJ). However, preparation of magnetic materials is normally carried out in high vacuum systems. Since electrodeposition methods for preparation of magnetic films have several advantages, such as simple equipment, ease of operation and relatively large area, the use of electrodeposition has great potential for preparing films.

Correlation Equation to Predict HHV of Tropical Peat Based on its Ultimate Analyses

The aim of the research is to develop correlation equation to predict HHV of tropical peat based on its ultimate analysis. The Eijkelkamp peat sampler was employed to take samples of peat in five different districts in Pontianak, Indonesia. Samples were taken up to 2 m depth with 50 cm increments therefore total 20 samples were obtained. Ultimate analyses and higher heating value (HHV) of peat were evaluated in order to predict HHV based on its ultimate analyses results. It was found that C, H, O, S, N and ash contents in dry bases (in weight %) had ranges of 15.63 – 59.43%, 2.63 – 6.47%, 13.35 – 36.84%, 0.12 – 3.86%, 0.48 – 2.01% and 1.00 – 64.05%, respectively. HHV had ranges of 8.07 – 21.69 MJ/kg. Based on chemical composition of dry peat therefore new equation formulae to predict HHV peat was HHV = 17.830 + 1.508 H + 0.102 N + 0.575 S – 0.192 O-0.205 Ash, with an average absolute error and bias error of 2.18% and 0.17%, respectively.

The effectiveness of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes in various applications is often hampered by fouling, necessitating the exploration of modification strategies to enhance their antifouling properties. This study investigates the effect of combining cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) and graphene oxide (GO) on PVDF membranes to address this issue. Six flat sheet membranes with different compositions were fabricated using a non-solvent-induced phase separation method. The resulting membrane (M5: CNC 1 % w/w and GO 0.25 % w/w) exhibited increased surface pores, a finger-like cross-sectional structure, and higher water content. The pure water flux (PWF) in the M5 membrane increased to 37 L/m²∙h, with a humic acid (HA) rejection rate of 60 % and excellent antifouling properties (98.32 %). In conclusion, this study successfully modified PVDF membranes by combining CNC and GO, resulting in membranes with improved properties and performance. The present study provides valuable insights into composite membrane design and offers potential solutions to fouling challenges. © 2024 The Authors

environmental impacts of small scale industries are still not well investigated, especially for estates where multiple small scale industries are clustered causing cumulative effects potentially impacting most vulnerable groups. This study aimed to investigate the concentrations of heavy metals (Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Pb, Al, Zn, and Cr) and the metalloid (As) in surface soils near the intensely active small-scale industrial area in Thailand, assess the contamination levels in the co-located child care center, and estimate potential human health risks from exposure to the heavy metals. Surface soil heavy metal(loid) elements were evaluated across a background area, area near main roads, a small-scale industrial area, and a child care centre. The concentrations of Al were found be the highest at all investigation sites, with the most elevated concentrations observed in the small-scale industrial area. The concentration of Pb in the industrial area reached 1176 mg/kg, exceeding the national standard and acceptable limit. Moreover, the contamination level for Cu, Pb, and Zn in the industrial area imply a considerable risk with enrichment factor EF > 40, and geo-accumulation index Igeo ≥5. Heavy metal levels (Ni, Cu, Pb) in the soil near the road and the child care center were similar, suggesting shared contamination sources. Conversely, Al, Zn, As, and Cr in the child care center had slightly higher concentrations than near the road but lower than the small-scale industrial area, indicating potential industrial influence on metal levels within the child care center. The principal component analysis showed Mn and Fe distributed in the background, while As, Pb, Ni, Cu, Al, Zn, and Cr accumulated in the small-scale industrial area. The findings indicate that small-scale industrial activities contribute to elevated levels of heavy metals in the soil, particularly within the child care center, posing significant ingestion risks, especially for children (HI > 1). The collection rate is a difficult and important issue in the management of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle waste, as it is related to the behavior of the community to participate and comply with the system established by the government. One system that has been shown to increase the collection rate of PET bottle waste is the deposit–refund scheme (DRS). We tested residents’ intention to participate in the DRS using the theory of planned behavior and complemented it with several important variables that could influence the model. The method used is partial least square-structural equation modeling. The result of the study is that all the variables studied were positively influenced according to their respective paths. Nevertheless, environmental awareness is the latent variable with the strongest positive effect on attitude, and attitude has the strongest positive effect on intention. Public information is the latent variable that positively influences all variables related to intention. The proposed model can be applied globally to identify factors that influence recycling participation, particularly for DRS, and help achieve sustainable development goals while initiating a circular economy by recycling plastic bottle waste. © 2023 The Author(s)
