The Government of the Republic of Indonesia states that the thermal energy for hot-mixed asphalt production shall be supplied by the direct combustion of fossil fuels in the form of diesel oil,natural gas,or fuel gas from coal gasification which may generate GHG *** are able to substitute the fossil fuels through gasification *** converts the biomass using limited air into gaseous fuel containing mainly CO and H_(2) that are subsequently combusted to produce heat,carbon dioxide,and *** is obvious that the CO_(2) is then absorbed by the plants for photosynthesis,main-taining a balanced closed *** study examines the level of global warming potential of this system for supplying heat based on the openLCA v1.9 *** analysis used a gate-to-gate approach to evaluate scenarios of shell gasification to produce 1 metric tonne of hot-mixed *** scope covers raw material supply and transportation,palm kernel shell gasification,and *** evaluation concludes that gasification could potentially reduce CO_(2) *** impact analysis and interpretation of the results using the openLCA database of Traci 2.1 recommend that greater CO_(2) emis-sion reduction is possible using palm kernel shell gasification,not only for supplying heat but also for electricity generation to operate all electrical equipments.

Train is one of transportation mode is increasingly polular in Indonesia nowdays, although in developed countries this transportation has long been a very advanced mode of mass transportation. Problems due to railroad tracks adjacent to densely populated settlements cannot be avoided. Problems such as noise levels can interfere with the health and comfort of the environment, vibrations in the surrounding environment due to passing trains cause some damage to civilian buildings such as residents' houses and high rise buildings as well. Customer segmentation is an essential area of business analytics today. Accurate customer segmentation is access to improves the efficiency of marketing campaigns and customer satisfaction. This study employs multiple machine learning methods to classify Australian Retail company BIGW's customer segments and first to apply multiple model explanation methods to find insights related to customer segmentation identification. After rigorous comparison and hyperparameter fine-tuning, XGBoost is the most adept for this dataset. We derive three key insights through the model results and model interpretive methods. First, BIGW's primary clientele comprises young families in urban areas who prefer cost-effective products, establishing the foundation of their consumer base. Second, the model result indicates a notable gap in BIGW's understanding of its high-end customers, suggesting an area for immediate attention. Third, a specific customer segment emerges from the data: individuals favoring online shopping, demonstrating high total expenditure but low interest in promotions, representing a high-value segment.

The study of how water can be used sustainably through risk management has become increasingly complex due to the many different aspects involved. This study used a three-step approach to investigate the issue: trend analysis, bibliometric analysis, and the development of a conceptual TOE framework. The trend analysis identified water conservation and water crisis as the most frequently mentioned keywords, suggesting the need to address public concern for these issues. The bibliometric analysis found that 37% of the articles were published in the last three years, and environmental science and technology was the most common field of study. The TOE framework was used to link and group the keywords (risk factors) from the articles into three categories: technology, organization, and environment. This framework provides a way to understand the different factors that contribute to water scarcity and to develop strategies for addressing these risk factors. The three risk factors with the highest scores were statistical analysis (technology), climate change (environment), and uncertainty (environment). In the technology category, statistical analysis, sustainable development, and water quality were the most important risk factors. In the organization category, water management, governance, and water markets were the most important risk factors. In the environment category, climate change, uncertainty, and flood were the most important risk factors. This study is expected to provide valuable insights into the research trends that are important for achieving sustainability in water resource management, both in conventional and academic studies, over the past decade. Koto Tinggi is one of the vulnerable soil movement areas in Lima Puluh Kota Regency. The steep slope condition is one of the main causes in this area, coupled with inappropriate land use. The construction of settlements on steep cliff slopes increases the risk of landslides that can cause property and life loss, especially Lima Puluh Kota Regency is a developing district. The availability of complete and accurate information on the vulnerability zones of soil movement is very necessary to prevent and minimize the loss of life and economic impacts. This research was conducted with the aim of the geological factors combined with the Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System used to determine the influence of soil control factors and the development of the vulnerability of soil movement.

Treatment with metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) elicits secondary metabolite accumulation in Aquilaria crassna (agarwood) callus culture

Thymelaceaous trees are prized for accumulating fragrant resins composed of hundreds of secondary metabolites in their woody tissues. Slow growth and increasing consumer demand have stretched natural sources of agarwood trees to being endangered and alternative production modes, including silviculture and tissue culture, are currently being investigated. Dedifferentiated tissue culture of agarwood trees provides a means of cell propagation independent of environmental context. However, secondary metabolite accumulation, as found in fragrant resins, occurs largely in response to wounding. Here, we investigated the application of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as potential elicitors of secondary metabolite formation in Aquilaria crassna tissue culture. Callus cultures were exposed to five commercially available MOFs (UiO-67, MOF-808, HKUST-1, ZIF-67, and MOF-74) and ethanol extracts were analysed using GC-MS to quantify secondary metabolite accumulation in MOF-exposed cultures compared to untreated cultures. Samples that were exposed to either of the two Zr-based MOFs exhibited metabolite production profiles that were similar to each other, (trans-2-Carboxy-cyclo-hexyl)-acetic acid was reduced in the presence of all MOFs, the Cu-containing HKUST-1 MOF increased palmitic acid levels, and ZIF-67 (at 20 mg/L) was found to elicit the highest accumulation of secondary metabolites with potential fragrance applications. These results demonstrate the possibility of eliciting secondary metabolites from dedifferentiated agarwood tree cell culture and may provide an alternative means of sourcing fragrant specialty chemicals from these plants.

Spatio-Temporal Change of Habitat Quality in Northeast China: Driving Factors Exploration Based on Land Use and Land Cover Change

Although the ecological environment plays an indispensable role in sustaining and developing human society and natural ecosystems, it continually suffers from degradation caused by human activities. Land Use and Land Cover (LULC), which serves as a proxy of the intensity for human intervention, has been regarded as an equally important factor affecting habitat quality as climate change. Therefore, exploring the close relationship between LULC and habitat quality change would provide a scientific basis for ecological conservation and land use. In this study, taking Northeast China with prominent contradiction between LULC and ecological protection as the study area, the InVEST model was introduced to assess the habitat quality based on LULC data from 2000 to 2020. And then, the Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) model was employed to analyze the explanatory variables of habitat quality change in terms of LULC change. The results indicated that LULC change in Northeast China from 2000 to 2020 mainly occurred between cultivated land, artificial land, grassland, and forestland. Habitat quality demonstrated a progressive decline yet remained at an intermediate level, and exhibited significant spatio-temporal heterogeneity on the whole. Furthermore, the regression results demonstrated there was a significant correlation between LULC change and habitat quality change. Finally, Northeast China was classified into three functional zones by the K-Means clustering analysis: the coordinated development zone, ecological conservation zone and key ecological functional zone, each with its own characteristics and development priorities. The findings can provide a scientific reference for the rational use of land and zoning management of habitat quality in Northeast China. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The implementation of smart grid on a micro scale in this study was for household electricity fulfillment needs. The use of renewable energy sources such as solar power will be integrated through a smart grid so that households can become independent in providing electricity and not depend on state electricity. Besides, it can also reduce monthly electricity costs when integrated with the state electricity network. Smart Micro Grid also enables the availability of energy management services such as monitoring, prediction, forecasting, scheduling and decision-making that was supported by some technologies such as artificial intelligent, smart sensors so that consumer use of electricity was more efficient. In this research, the forecasting method developed using the Deep Neural Network (DNN) and the Gate Recurrent Unit (GRU) as the architectural model. The GRU model was chosen because it has better performance compared to other models, namely LSTM, Auto-LSTM, Auto-GRU with MAE and MSE values of 0.0342 and 0.00245. © 2021 IEEE.

Mixotrophic Chlorella pyrenoidosa biofilm with enhanced biomass production, microalgal activity, and nutrient removal from nutrient-rich wastewater

Microalgae possess significant advantages in nitrogen and phosphorus removal from nutrient-rich wastewater that are highly efficient and independent of the C/N ratio. However, challenges such as low biomass productivity, high variability in nutrient removal under different trophic types, and difficulty in harvesting biomass limits the large-scale application of microalgae wastewater treatment. This study attempted to employ mixotrophic microalgae biofilm to address these issues. The biomass production, microalgal activity, and nutrient removal of Chlorella pyrenoidosa biofilms with different trophic types were compared for nutrient-rich wastewater treatment. The results showed that the biomass productivity of the mixotrophic microalgal biofilm (0.215 g/(L·d)) was 2.3, 8.6, and 6.0 times higher than that of photoautotrophic microalgal biofilm, heterotrophic microalgal biofilm, and photoautotrophic suspended microalga, respectively. Additionally, the dehydrogenase activity (DHA), indicating microalgal activity, of the mixotrophic biofilm was 2.3 and 16.5 times higher than that of photoautotrophic and heterotrophic biofilms, respectively. Meanwhile, the mixotrophic biofilm removed 96.0 % of NH4+-N and 99.2 % of PO43–-P, more efficient than that with other types of biofilms and suspended microalgae. In an open-ended air-lift photobioreactor, the mixotrophic microalgal biofilm produced biomass at 0.12 g/(L·d) and removed 90.0 % of NH4+-N and 97.6 % of PO43–-P. This study suggests that the mixotrophic microalgal biofilm shows promise in treating nutrient-rich wastewater and producing microalgal biomass for value-added products. © 2024
