地下水是全球最常见的液态淡水资源,但其在支撑多样化生态系统方面的作用却未得到足够重视。许多地区地下水依赖型生态系统(GDEs)的位置和范围信息尚不明确,相应保护措施也不够完善。为此,绘制了高分辨率(约30 m)的GDEs位置分布图,结果表明:在全球1/3以上的旱地都存在GDEs,包括全球重要的生物多样性热点地区。在以畜牧业为主、地下水消耗较少的地区,GDEs的分布更广且相连,这表明人类的用水用地活动可能已导致许多GDEs消失。

This paper discusses the development of urban forest areas in eastern Jakarta to encourage sustainable urban development and socio-economic environment balance. This research aims to calculate the urban forest area needs in sub-district of Makasar, Ciracas and Cakung sub-districts, East Jakarta. The method used is to calculate index of urban forest area requirement (Indeks Luas Hutan Kota / ILHK) with Marshal Edgewarth method approach. The potential land mapping using Landsat-TM satellite image data is further processed through spatial allasis using Geographic Information System (GIS). The results of this research indicate the existence of sufficient land potential and can function ecologically as urban forests, and able to be a driver for sustainable urban development. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

ProblemThe risk of pre-term delivery, pre-eclampsia (PE), cesarean section, severe neonatal/perinatal morbidity and mortality was significantly increased in COVID-19 pregnant women (2). The infection of host cells by SARS-CoV-2 requires the presence of two receptors: the transmembrane receptor Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme 2 (ACE2) and the Type II Transmembrane Serine Protease (TMPRSS2) (3,4). Moreover, SARS-CoV-2 may bind to a third alternative receptor, the cluster of differentiation 147 (CD147)/EMMPRIN (5). There is therefore a lack of information on how maternal infection with SARS-CoV-2 impacts the expression of ACE2 and TMPRSS2 in the placenta, at both transcript and protein level. Here, we investigated term placentae collected before the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and COVID-19+ placentae, analyzing the expression of the three main COVID-19 receptors, namely ACE2, TMPRSS2 and CD147. Method of StudyWe performed RT-qPCR, Western blot and cytofluorimetric analysis on placental tissues and on isolated placental cells, both in resting conditions and after stimulation with Spike protein. Finally, we evaluated the SARS-CoV-2 capability to infect placental cells in vitro. We observed very low expression of the canonical SARS-CoV-2 entry receptors on syncytio- and cytotrophoblast cells, as well as on human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs), but the infection by the virus resulted into an up-regulation of their expression. In order to try to understand the mechanisms underlying the resistance to Sars-CoV-2 infection of placental cells, we performed transfection tests with the Spike protein to see the formation of cellular syncytia. The simultaneous presence of Spike and functional receptors (ACE2, TMPRSS2) on the cell surface, in fact, leads to the activation of fusogenic mechanisms, which manifest with the formation of syncytia. By studying deep-sea drilled records from the North Atlantic Ocean, several magnetic instabilities of short duration, such as the Iceland Basin (188 ka), the Björn (1,255 ka) and the Gardar (1,460 ka) excursions, were discovered. These records have contributed to our understanding of Earth's magnetic field and are the foundation of the Geomagnetic Instability Time Scale (GITS) in the Quaternary. Here, we present the magnetostratigraphy from Sites U1555 (0 to ∼2.7 Ma) and U1563 (0 to ∼5.2 Ma) drilled during the International Ocean Discovery program Expedition 395C on the eastern side of the modern Mid-Atlantic Ridge (∼60°N, 20–30°W). Shipboard paleomagnetic and microfossil data provided a preliminary age model, extending the regional record to 3.4 Ma. The Virtual Geomagnetic Pole latitudes from archive halves, corroborated with data from discrete samples, were used to build a high-resolution magnetostratigraphy, which contained the expected Brunhes and Matuyama Chrons and their respective Subchrons. We also identified most of the magnetic events reported in the GITS, including the less well-documented ones, such as Osaka, Kamitzukara, Huckleberry Ridge, Reunion, Gardar, Halawa and L4 events. The high-resolution magnetostratigraphy from Sites U1555 and U1563 is compared with two previous legacy sites and contributes toward an increasingly robust GITS, expanding its use as a correlation and dating tool. In 2023, the first Polar Postdoc Leadership Workshop convened to discuss present and future polar science issues and to develop leadership skills. The workshop discussions fostered a collective commitment to inclusive leadership within the polar science community among all participants. Here, we outline challenges encountered by underrepresented groups in polar sciences, while also noting that progress has been made to improve inclusivity in the field. Further, we highlight the inclusive leadership principles identified by workshop participants to bring to the polar community as we transition into leadership roles. Finally, insights and practical knowledge we gained from the workshop are shared, aiming to inform the community of our commitment to inclusive leadership and encourage the polar community to join us in pursuing action toward our shared vision for a more welcoming polar science future. As a small community of postdoctoral researchers, we outline the leadership skills envisioned for an inclusive future in polar sciences Our vision is to increase the success of underrepresented individuals as leaders by creating a welcoming and supportive career environment Group norms and leadership skills focused on emotional intelligence are critical to equity and inclusion in polar sciences

The growth of infrastructure development is currently increasing rapidly in Indonesia. Beside government policy trough their procurement in national, provincial and local level, it is also driven by private sector and per capita as of economic growing and increasing population. In the process physical development, several mixture of material such as stone, cement, sand, demolition material are often left over and discharge. Today Indonesia government will issued construction and demolition waste guideline to make more green and environmental sound. One of the basic problem founded was concerning to the development of model to estimated then monitored construction generation in rural, urban or in a strategic region. Moreover, in the era of digital as known as revolution industry 4.0, an automatic system of monitoring, known as smart monitoring of the construction waste generation is very importance to build. The purpose of this study was to build regional model of smart construction monitoring in Indonesia. The basic method to build the regional model is by utilized an index approach, and combined by using GIS to build automatic information delivery system from rural, urban or region to the central system. This study is then choosed Central Java Province for more detail model development. The study founded 7 (seven) pattern of construction waste generation. The extreme condition founded in Grobogan, Purworejo and Kebumen at which for decade 2000-2014 the degree is waste generation always decrease. In Addition, In central Java Province, this study founded three characteristic of regional model of construction waste as follow: (1) Region with high level of construction waste degree; (2) region with moderate level of construction waste degree; and (3) region with low level of construction waste degree.

Kemiri Sunan (Reutalis trisperma (Blanco) Airy Shaw) is a potential plant to be developed as biodiesel feedstock. The advantage of Kemiri Sunan seeds when compared to other biodiesel raw materials is their high oil content. This plant is also very good for land conservation. Due the increasingly demand for biodiesel, research and new methods to increase its biodiesel production continue to be undertaken. The weakness of conventional biodiesel manufacturing process is in the mixing process in which mechanical stirring and heating in the trans-esterification process require more energy and a longer time. A higher and stronger mixing process is required to increase the contact area between the two phases of the mixed substance to produce the emulsion. Ultrasonic is a tool that can be useful for a liquid mixing process that tends to be separated. Ultrasonic waves can cause mixing intensity at the micro level and increase mass transfer, so the reaction can be performed at a much faster rate. This study is to figure out the effect of ultrasonic irradiation on the transesterification process of biodiesel from Kemiri Sunan Oil. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP sciences.

Incorporating uncertainty assessment into hydrological simulation is of vital significance for providing valuable information for conserving and restoring the ecology environment in arid and semiarid regions. In this study, a sparse polynomial chaos expansions method was developed to quantify hydrological model parameter uncertainties on model performance in Kaidu river basin, China. A four dimension two order polynomial chaos expansions model was built and the effect of four parameters were quantified based on the coefficients of the polynomial chaos expansions model. Results indicated that precipitation in summer has more significant influence on model output than that in other seasons. High Sobol sensitivity indices values (0.22 in spring, 0.17 in summer, 0.21 in autumn and 0.29) for the interaction of precipitation and maximum capacity for fast store demonstrate that they are the major factors affecting runoff generation. These results can help reveal the flow processes and provide valuable information for water resources management.

Recently, Intention to accelerate SGDs achievement and also mitigate climate change impact concerning to regional health, increasing significantly. One of the regional health issues for those is concerning to impcat of plastic waste. Event though plastic is one of the principal materials in the regional market and industry, but then plastic waste arise to be principal problem for regional environmental health indicators since they linked living from land to coastal and to oceans. Many tons of plastic from land accounted enter to costal and or ocean then attack to all living thinks. Moreover they may be able to return to the land as microplastic consumed by fish. Today, quick respond to manage plastic waste have a high assosiation with effort to manage green food cycle as of covering basic regional food and cereal cycle. This study goal is to provide basic model for regional plastic waste degree monitoring. The model is developed by using 'online' population data from regional statistical data and number of public market. GIS tools is used to degree of plastic waste in spatial map. For detail, Central Java Provice was then selected for model assessment. To monitor the plastic waste generation in spatial pattern, online data population for year 1990, 2000, 2010, 2018 and number of traditional market was utilized. The study calculated that the highest degree of plastic waste generation with population-base approach for year 2018 is located in Brebes Regency with estimated 161.53 Ton per day. Semarang city contributed 160.04 Ton per day and total plastic waste generation in Central Java is estimated 3, 090.38. According to the public market location, this study founded that Surakarta, Semarang, Pekalongan and Tegal clasify as high degree of plastic waste ggeneration.

Hypocenter dimension of 7.5 mw Palu earthquake using fractal approach

Research on the Palu earthquake in the period of August to October 2018 has been carried out in the Palu Koro Fault (PKF) zone with a hypocenter of 5-20 km. This study aims to determine the fractal dimensions of these earthquakes based on the relationship between logarithmic frequency and earthquake magnitude correlation introduced by Gutenberg-Richter. Statistical correlation between logarithmic frequency and earthquake magnitude was calculated using the inversion approach. Based on the calculation results obtained fractal dimension value of 1.0378, which describes the seismicity pattern at a depth of 5-20 km. It indicates that the earthquakes triggered by the movement in rupture segments which seen as points along the PKF zone.
