DURING our discussion at workshops for writing“What Does ChatGPT Say:The DAO from Algorithmic Intelligence to Linguistic Intelligence”[1],we had expected the next milestone for Artificial Intelligence(AI)would be in the direction of Imaginative Intelligence(II),i.e.,something similar to automatic wordsto-videos generation or intelligent digital movies/theater technology that could be used for conducting new“Artificiofactual Experiments”[2]to replace conventional“Counterfactual Experiments”in scientific research and technical development for both natural and social studies[2]-[6].Now we have OpenAI’s Sora,so soon,but this is not the final,actually far away,and it is just the beginning.

Mobile prices play a pivotal role in determining their popularity amongst consumers and their competitive standing within the market. As customers consider their budget while evaluating a mobile phone's specifications and design, estimating the price beforehand becomes essential to cater to their needs and expectations. Hence, accurately forecasting mobile phone prices is a vital step in the product launch process to remain competitive and assess the market dynamics and competitors. The primary aim of this research is to determine the true market value of mobile phones. In this research, the dataset was extracted by means of utilizing a web scraping process from the flipkart website. The main objective of this research is to fetch the most recent dataset based on the most recent features. The extracted dataset is fitted into regression models such as linear regression, decision tree regressor, random forest regressor, KNN regressor, and gradient boosting regressor and performs the comparative analysis. The models are evaluated based on the mean absolute error metric. © 2024 IEEE.

Tumor type classification and candidate cancer-specific biomarkers discovery via semi-supervised learning

Identifying cancer-related differentially expressed genes provides significant information for diagnosing tumors, predicting prognoses, and effective treatments. Recently, deep learning methods have been used to perform gene differential expression analysis using microarray-based high-throughput gene profiling and have achieved good results. In this study, we proposed a new robust multiple-datasetsbased semi-supervised learning model, MSSL, to perform tumor type classification and candidate cancer-specific biomarkers discovery across multiple tumor types and multiple datasets, which addressed the following long-lasting obstacles:(1) the data volume of the existing single dataset is not enough to fully exert the advantages of deep learning;(2) a large number of datasets from different research institutions cannot be effectively used due to inconsistent internal variances and low quality;(3) relatively uncommon cancers have limited effects on deep learning methods. In our article, we applied MSSL to The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA) and the Gene Expression Comprehensive Database(GEO) pan-cancer normalized-level3 RNA-seq data and got 97.6% final classification accuracy, which had a significant performance leap compared with previous approaches. Finally, we got the ranking of the importance of the corresponding genes for each cancer type based on classification results and validated that the top genes selected in this way were biologically meaningful for corresponding tumors and some of them had been used as biomarkers, which showed the efficacy of our method.

Background Determining how an image is visually appealing is a complicated and subjective task. This motivates the use of a machine-learning model to evaluate image aesthetics automatically by matching the aesthetics of the general public. Although deep learning methods have successfully learned good visual features from images,correctly assessing the aesthetic quality of an image remains a challenge for deep learning. Methods To address this, we propose a novel multiview convolutional neural network to assess image aesthetics assessment through color composition and space formation(IAACS). Specifically, from different views of an image––including its key color components and their contributions, the image space formation, and the image itself––our network extracts the corresponding features through our proposed feature extraction module(FET) and the Image Net weight-based classification model. Result By fusing the extracted features, our network produces an accurate prediction score distribution for image aesthetics. The experimental results show that we have achieved superior performance.

With the growing popularity of the Internet, Web applications have become increasingly essential in our daily lives. Web application programming interfaces (Web APIs) play a crucial role in facilitating interaction between applications. However, most Web service platforms are suffering from the imbalance of Web services now, many services of good quality but low popularity are difficult to be invoked even once and do not create direct connections with the users. Some graph-based Web service recommendation methods also often present a long-tailed distribution of recommended Web services due to limited Mashup-API invocation relationships. To relieve this problem and promote service recommendation, in this article, we propose a community structure and popularity-based approach by constructing an evolving cooperation network for Web APIs. We leverage the Louvain algorithm in community detection to assign community structure to each Web API and consider both the popularity and community structure in constructing the network. By optimizing the Barabαsi-Albert (BA) evolving network model, we demonstrate that our approach outperforms the BA, Bianconi-Barabαsi (BB), and popularity-similarity optimization (PSO) models in Web service clustering. Based on our proposed evolutionary network model for the evolutionary extension of API cooperation network and used for downstream Web service recommendation tasks, the experimental results also show that our recommended approach outperforms some other baseline models for Web service recommendation. © 2020 IEEE.

Sharding is an effective technique to improve the scalability of blockchain. It splits nodes into multiple groups so that they can process transactions in parallel. To achieve higher parallelism and concurrency at large scales, it is desirable to maintain a large number of small shards. However, simply configuring small shards easily results in a higher fraction of malicious nodes inside shards, causing shard corruption and compromising system security. Existing sharding techniques hence demand large shards, at the expense of limited concurrency. To address this limitation, we propose CoChain: a blockchain sharding system that can securely configure small shards for enhanced concurrency. CoChain allows some shards to be corrupted. For security, each shard is monitored by multiple other shards. The latter reach a cross-shard Consensus on the Consensus results of their monitored shard. Once a corrupted shard is found, its subsequent consensus will be taken over by another shard, hence recovering the system. At present, there exist some problems in granular clustering methods, such as lack of nonlinear membership description and global optimization of granular data boundaries. To address these issues, in this study, revolving around the parabolic granular data, we propose an overall architecture for parabolic granular modeling and clustering. To begin with, novel coverage and specificity functions are established, and then a parabolic granular data structure is proposed. The fuzzy c-means (FCM) algorithm is used to obtain the numeric prototypes, and then particle swarm optimization (PSO) is introduced to construct the parabolic granular data from the global perspective under the guidance of principle of justifiable granularity (PJG). Combining the advantages of FCM and PSO, we propose the parabolic granular modeling and optimization (PGMO) method. Moreover, we put forward attribute weights and sample weights as well as a distance measure induced by the Gaussian kernel similarity, and then come up with the algorithm of weighted kernel fuzzy clustering for parabolic granularity (WKFC-PG). In addition, the assessment mechanism of parabolic granular clustering is discussed. In summary, we set up an overall architecture including parabolic granular modeling, clustering, and assessment. Finally, comparative experiments on artificial, UCI, and high-dimensional datasets validate that our overall architecture delivers a good improvement over previous strategies. The parameter analysis and time complexity are also given for WKFC-PG. In contrast with related granular clustering algorithms, it is observed that WKFC-PG performs better than other granular clustering algorithms and has superior stability in handling outliers, especially on high-dimensional datasets. © 2020 IEEE.

Sequential recommendation systems which aim to predict the users’ future clicking items are essential in both research and industry services. Based on the contextual characteristics of users, a large number of existing methods exploit abundant information from user behavior sequences and gain users’ interests through expressive sequential models like recurrent neural networks and self-attention mechanism to predict the next item. However, the temporal generative process of behavior sequences, which is crucial to the complex relationships and distributions of users’ dynamic preferences, is rarely considered. In this paper, we propose HawRec (Hawkes process based sequential recommendation), which is a new representation learning approach to model the interacted sequences of users from a temporal point process perspective. In particular, we leverage temporal self-attention mechanism to make an analogy to the self-exciting mechanism of Hawkes process. We bring expressive superiority of neural network into the Hawkes process with non-parametric conditional intensity kernel, resulting in more accurate recommendation and inheriting robustness from the temporal point process. Furthermore, extensive experiments conducted on four public benchmarks demonstrate that our HawRec outperforms various baselines of state-of-the-art sequential recommendation. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
