Field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) serve as a convenient tool for prototyping and debugging developed digital circuits. Their circuitry is optimized for synchronous unit implementation. computer-aided design systems for digital circuits on FPGAs are also focused on synchronous projects. However, one can also use FPGAs for prototyping self-timed (ST) circuits in the mode of emulating a single-stage representation of some logical and indication cells. The paper analyzes the ST circuit indication cell implementations on the FPGAs and proposes a technique for emulating ST circuits on typical FPGAs. The paper estimates a hardware redundancy of the ST circuit implementations on FPGAs and the results of prototyping an ST unit multiplying two operands with subsequent third operand addition and subtraction without intermediate rounding on the Intel Cyclone and Arria families FPGAs. © 2024 IEEE.

Artificial intelligence systems operating in the sequential decision making paradigm are inevitably required to do effective spatio-temporal processing. The memory models for such systems are often required not just to memorize the observed data stream, but also to encode it so it is possible to separate dissimilar sequences and consolidate similar ones. Moreover, for solving complex problems, it is advantageous to have the ability to treat sequences as unit abstractions, which imposes restrictions on the topology of the representation space and the information contained in the representations themselves. In this paper, we propose a method for encoding sequences that allows efficient memorization, but at the same time retains the degree of similarity between sequences. We based our approach on the combination of biologically-inspired temporal memory and spatial attractor that stabilize temporal coding. The experiments performed on synthetic data confirm the coding efficiency and allow us to identify promising directions for further development of methods. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The article shows the basic principles, methods and practice of creating an expert information system - a system of knowledge bases that provides an assessment of the effectiveness of advanced research in aerospace (EAS). EAS is expected to increase the scientific validity of decisions regarding formation and implementation of effective mechanisms and tools for managing science and technology development in the aviation industry of the Russian Federation. For several years, the National Research Center "Zhukovsky Institute" has been carrying out a complex of works aimed at solving the problems of collecting and processing research results in aerospace activities. The integrated expert analytical system (EAS) presented in this article provides the creation of a single digital information space by implementing unified technologies for automatic processing and formalization of the semantic content of reference, regulatory, technological and project documentation. This development provides the interface of various information systems at the level of the exchange of documents processed according to uniform standards of semantic representation, obtained from various types of information sources. The system allows for the analysis of multilingual scientific and technical documentation and the preparation of materials for use in the promotion of complex scientific and technical products. On the L convergence of a novel fourth-order compact and conservative difference scheme for the generalized Rosenau-KdV-RLW equation

In this work, a novel compact difference scheme for the generalized Rosenau-KdV-RLW equation is investigated, which preserves some conservative properties of the original equation. The proposed numerical scheme is three-level and nonlinear implicit, which adopts a novel approximation $$\displaystyle \frac{1}{4}(U^{n+1}_{j}+2U^{n}_{j}+U^{n-1}_{j})$$ of $$u(x_{j},t_{n})$$ in the temporal direction and a direct compact discretization method for the higher-order derivatives $$u_{xxx}$$ and $$u_{xxxx}$$ in the spatial direction. The discrete conservation laws are given, and a priori estimates of the difference solution in maximum norm are obtained by applying mathematical induction. The solvability of the proposed numerical scheme is proved by the well-known Brouwer’s fixed point theorem. The convergence with $$O(\tau ^{2}+h^{4})$$ convergence order and stability of the novel difference scheme in $$L^{\infty }$$ norm are proved. A linearized iterative algorithm for solving nonlinear algebraic systems generated by the compact scheme is proposed and its convergence is proved. Some numerical experimental results validate the theoretical results and demonstrate that the proposed compact scheme is efficient and reliable.

On a fixed time interval, a terminal control problem generating a phase trajectory is considered. Three points are selected on the segment: two end points and one intermediate point, they correspond to the values of the trajectory. The left end of the trajectory is fixed. Finite-dimensional linear programming problems are associated with the intermediate and last moments of time, and the corresponding values of the phase trajectory should at the same time be optimal solutions of these problems. It is required to draw a phase trajectory by choosing a control so that, starting from the left end, the trajectory passes through an intermediate point and reaches the right end of the time interval. To solve the problem, a new approach is proposed based on duality theory and Lagrangian formalism. An iterative computational process of the saddle-point type is investigated. The convergence of the process in all components of the solution is proved. It is emphasized that only evidence-based computing technologies transform mathematical models into a tool for making guaranteed solutions. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The evaluation of the diffusion properties of optical clearing agents in biological tissues, which are necessary to characterize the transparency mechanisms, has been traditionally made using ex vivo tissues. With the objective of performing such evaluation in vivo, this study was made to evaluate and compare those properties for propylene glycol in skeletal muscle, as obtained with the collimated transmittance and diffuse reflectance kinetics. The diffusion time and the diffusion coefficient of propylene glycol in the muscle that were calculated both from transmittance and reflectance kinetics presented a deviation of 0.8%, a result that opens the possibility to use such a method in vivo. © 2022 IEEE.

The problem of determining soil parameters is considered. Their exact knowledge is of great importance for planning and managing water systems, assessing the possible size of catastrophic floods, etc. These parameters are proposed to be found by solving some optimal control problem, where the controlled process is described by the Richards equation. The objective function is mean-square deviation of the observed soil moisture values from its simulated values, which are obtained from the solution of the Richards equation with the selected parameters values. Numerical optimization is performed using Newton method. Derivatives of the objective function are calculated using fast automatic differentiation techniques. © 2020 IEEE.
