With a rapid growth in computer networks, many people can access the network through the Internet and therefore an electronic voting can be a viable alternative for conducting an election. An electronic voting system must attempt to achieve at least the same level of security as ordinary elections. We have developed an electronic voting system, E-voting for a general election. The E-voting system employs cryptographic techniques to overcome the security issues in the election process. In this system, voter's privacy is guaranteed by using a blind signature for confidentiality and voter's digital signature for voter's authentication. E-voting is implemented by employing Java socket technology and BouncyCastle cryptography provider. The provider, which is an open source library, is used to provide the secure communication channel. The voter's private key for digital signature is protected by using password-based encryption with SHA and Twofish-CBC algorithm so that only valid voter can use it.

Combinatorial auction mechanisms have been used in many applications such as resource and task allocation, planning and time scheduling in multi-agent systems, in which the items to be allocated are complementary or substitutable. The winner determination in combinatorial auction itself is a NP-complete problem, and has attracted many attentions of researchers world wide. Some outstanding achievements have been made including CPLEX and CABOB algorithms on this topic. To our knowledge, the research into multi-unit combinatorial auctions with reserve prices considered is more or less ignored. To this end, we present a new algorithm for multi-unit combinatorial auctions with reserve prices, which is based on Sandholm's work. An efficient heuristic function is developed for the new algorithm. Experiments have been conducted. The experimental results show that auctioneer agent can find the optimal solution efficiently for a reasonable problem scale with our algorithm.

Mobile crowd management is yet an emerging new research area for Search and Rescue (SAR) operations. The dynamic nature and mobility of Mobile Adhoc Networks (MANETs) demand for new set of networking strategies to be developed in order to provide reliable and efficient communication during catastrophe such as in battlefield, terrorist attacks and natural disasters. A MANET is an independent, dynamic, self-adaptive and infrastructure-less connection of mobile devices. The role of communication has been playing a major role in all the aspects of catastrophic management such as circumspection or response and recovery. MANETs utilize TCP/IP protocol for communication between end nodes, but the mobility and resource overhead makes each layer in TCP/IP model to be modified frequently. Therefore routing in MANET drives out to be one of the most challenging research areas and has received enormous attention from the researchers in the past decades. This survey investigates the Mobile Adhoc Networks (MANETs) based routing protocols for search and rescue scenario. The main objective is to provide a categorization of MANET protocols based on infrastructure and phases of disaster management. Furthermore emergency response operations have been considered as a promising perspective for MANETs. This paper also examines and outlines the existing employment technologies of MANETs for search and rescue operations and the significant contributions made by the authors based upon the criteria of infrastructure, communication protocols and type of disaster scenario.

Teenagers can easily expose to criminal activities through media social, surrounding, and peers. They tend to imitate some of these criminal activities such as cyber bullying, fighting, cyber grooming and cyber harassment without thinking of his or communities' side-effect. Therefore, we develop a self-crime prevention modules encompassing faith, positivity, social relationship, role model and reflection tailored for school teens. Then, we make a list of survey questions using 4 Likert scale to measure their acceptance and adaptation after participating our self-crime module. About 105 school children aged 13-17 participated from Sekolah Menengah Titiwangsa and they responded positively with approximately 3.63 of average score. © 2018 IEEE.

Ultrasound is widely used in minimally invasive cardiac procedures due to its convenience of use and noninvasive nature. However, the low quality of ultrasound images often limits their utility as a means for guiding procedures, since it is often difficult to relate the images to their anatomical context. To improve the interpretability of the ultrasound images while maintaining ultrasound as a flexible anatomical and functional real time imaging modality, there is need for some registration techniques that integrate them with their correspond context in high quality pre-operative models such as magnetic resonance imaging or computed tomography images. It is a challenging and remarkable step as through registration, the combined information from multi-modal image acquisition systems such as ultrasound and computed tomography can be obtained by the medical practitioner for better physiological understanding, effective image guidance surgery, treatment, monitoring and diagnostic purposes. An overview of ultrasound and computed tomography registration techniques is presented in this paper.

The dynamic mobility and limitations in computational power, battery resources, and memory availability are main bottlenecks in fully harnessing mobile devices as data mining platforms. Therefore, the mobile devices are augmented with cloud resources in mobile edge cloud computing (MECC) environments to seamlessly execute data mining tasks. The MECC infrastructures provide compute, network, and storage services in one-hop wireless distance from mobile devices to minimize the latency in communication as well as provide localized computations to reduce the burden on federated cloud systems. However, when and how to offload the computation is a hard problem. In this paper, we present an opportunistic computation offloading scheme to efficiently execute data mining tasks in MECC environments. The scheme provides the suitable execution mode after analyzing the amount of unprocessed data, privacy configurations, contextual information, and available on-board local resources (memory, CPU, and battery power). We develop a mobile application for online activity recognition and evaluate the proposed scheme using the event data stream of 5 million activities collected from 12 users for 15 days. The experiments show significant improvement in execution time and battery power consumption resulting in 98% data reduction.

This is an introduction paper of a project named the same as the title which is supported by Japan science and technology Agency. We plan to develop an interactive visualization system with both volume and surfac. rendering and big data analysis functions. It is for two years project that started at April 1st in 2016. Integrating 1D, 2D and 3D visualization tools, we aim to provide a new post processing tool that assists to reveal a causal relationship between variables among big data. This paper introduces the basic concept and the fundamental visualization technologies implemented in the system.

Digital watermarking is one of the most important techniques employed to protect digital contents. Copyright information embedded in the digital contents may become undetectable due to compression and additive noise attacks introduced into a watermarked image. A general strategy to overcome such attacks is to embed redundant watermarking to improve the survivability of the watermark. However, current approaches in redundant watermarking is generally not designed in a systematic way. In this paper, a systematic redundancy approach in watermarking using Sudoku is proposed. The approach is based on the property of Sudoku's permutation that provide tightly related, redundant copies of watermark pieces discretely distributed to different hiding planes. Using the classic 9X9 Sudoku puzzle, the proposed approach has been implemented and tested with Gaussian, compression, poisson, speckle, low pass filter, high pass filter and contrast attacks using standard images. The result indicates sustained survivability of the watermark under common attacks.

This paper addresses the influence of nanoparticles (NPs) on the dielectric properties of polyurethane. In this research, we only investigated the effect of Al2O3, MgO and ZnO NPs for concentrations up to 2% wt and in the temperature range from 25 to 120 °C. During the preparation of nanocomposites, polymer chains bind to NPs, which then limits their mobility. This effect results in a decrease in real permittivity and the course of polarization mechanisms. We observed an increase in permittivity over the entire temperature range only for a 2% MgO concentration. The decrease in the mobility of polymer chains was confirmed by dynamic-mechanical analysis. This method also results in an increase in the glass transition temperature depending on the type and concentration of NPs. The presence of NPs and the limited mobility of the polymer chains results in a shift of the low-frequency local maximum to lower frequencies © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper we point out the relevance of and the need for a theoretical discussion around UX research and practice. Although there is a good coverage of methodological and design related topics in the HCI literature, there is still a lack of theoretical focus in the rapidly increasing work on user experience (UX). We analyzed 122 individual items on theories collected in a CHI'11 special interest group session on UX theories and theoretical frameworks. The data set was filtered and categorized in several iterations, resulting in 56 items distributed over 7 major theory categories and related to 9 relevant disciplines. The categories are an initial mapping of the field and point towards the directions for further conceptual and theoretical clarification. Our results help to explore the multi-disciplinary nature of UX and to build a more solid foundation for UX research and practice. © 2012 Authors.
