This paper explores the integration of incremental curriculum learning (ICL) with deep reinforcement learning (DRL) techniques to facilitate mobile robot navigation through task-based human instruction. By adopting a curriculum that mirrors the progressive complexity encountered in human learning, our approach systematically enhances robots’ ability to interpret and execute complex instructions. We explore the principles of DRL and its synergy with ICL, demonstrating how this combination not only improves training efficiency but also equips mobile robots with the generalization capability required for navigating through dynamic indoor environments. Empirical results indicate that robots trained with our ICL-enhanced DRL framework outperform those trained without curriculum learning, highlighting the benefits of structured learning progressions in robotic training.

Although corresponding technological and didactical models have been known for decades, the digitization of teaching has hardly advanced beyond simple non-interactive formats (e.g. downloadable slides are provided within a learning management system). The COVID-19 crisis is changing this situation dramatically, creating a high demand for highly interactive formats and fostering exchange between conversation partners about the course content. systems are required that are able to communicate with students verbally, to answer their questions, and to check the students’ knowledge. While technological advances have made such systems possible in principle, the game stopper is the large amount of manual work and knowledge that must be put into designing such a system and feeding it the right content. In this publication, we present a first system to overcome the aforementioned drawback by automatically generating a corresponding dialog system from slide-based presentations, such as PowerPoint, OpenOffice, or Keynote, which can be dynamically adapted to the respective students and their needs. Our first experiments confirm the proof of concept and reveal that such a system can be very handy for both respective groups, learners and lecturers, alike. The limitations of the developed system, however, also reminds us that many challenges need to be addressed to improve the feasibility and quality of such systems, in particular in the understanding of semantic knowledge. © 2021, ICST Institute for computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

In copy-move forgery detection, most relevant studies concern locating the copy-move areas without the distinction of source and target regions. This paper proposes an end-to-end network, DSTNet, to identify the source and target based on consistency detection between the copy-move region and the non-copy-move region. The DSTNet is composed of two stages, the Pre-processing stage and the Discrimination stage. Pre-processing Stage extracts internal information of copy-move and non-copy-move areas and conducts a series of operations to meet the requirements of network input. Discrimination stage allows multiple patches for input and classifies the input patches. Specifically, the Pre-processing stage, contains the Copy-move Patches Selection (CM Patches Selection) and Genuine Patches Selection, can select pairs of copy-move and none copy-move patches. We train the proposed DSTNet on two large synthetic datasets and use the public datasets CASIA and Comofod for evaluation. The experiment shows that our method achieves excellent results. Particularly, we achieve a 5.4% higher F1 based on ground-truth of copy-move mask (GT-CM) on CASIA dataset. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

With the substantial increase in Cybercrime, the pressing need for effective solutions in the light of the rising amount of corporate financial losses, is a concern f or many researchers. The widespread adoption of ecommerce and diverse online payment methods has contributed to the surge in a major form of cybercrime - online payment fraud. This further highlights the critical need to control and reduce the widespread danger of fraudulent behaviour on the internet. However, predicting online payment fraud is difficult as fraudsters are constantly changing their tactics, transactions happen quickly and in large volumes, transactions involve different regions and countries, stolen data is often used and other factors. Our goal is to improve the accuracy and usability of online payment fraud prediction through the use of machine learning. A well-established and widely recognized dataset specifically designed for studying online payment fraud was used. The six proposed algorithms trained and tested were (SVM), Decision Tree, Naïve Bayes, Random Forest, (KNN) and Logistic Regression. After rigorous testing, Decision Tree presented the highest accuracy in performance of 98.58%. However, as ten-fold cross validation was implemented on the dataset, Decision Tree suffered a loss while Random Forest had an increase in accuracy making it the best model with accuracy of 98.47%. As shown in this paper, machine learning has proven to be a reliable and ever-evolving approach for the prediction of Online Payment Fraud and results can be further improved in collaboration with financial and cybercrime specialists. © 2024 IEEE.

Integrating deep learning in speech separation has revolutionized audio signal processing, impacting fields like speech recognition, audio-visual content creation, telecommunication, hearing aid technologies, etc. In time-frequency domain separation, models leverage amplitude and phase information while the waveform is used for training in the time-domain speech separation model. An emerging approach uses complex values, capturing intricate audio nuances for improved performance. Modern models prioritize speaker-independent separation, adapting to dynamic or unknown speaker identities. Their ability to simultaneously separate multiple speakers is crucial for applications like conference calls, overlapping dialogues, and surveillance. This review explores deep models in speech separation, offering insights into the time domain, and time-frequency domain strategies. In this paper, we performed an analysis of the outage probability (Pout) at the output of the receiver with selection combination (SC) with L branches of the wireless communication system in the presence of Beaulieu-Xie (BX) fading and BX co-channel interference (CCI). The mathematical form of the function for Pout as a normalized signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) was derived, based on which a graph was drawn for different values of fading and CCI parameters. The second part of the paper considers applying machine learning approach relying on ChatGPT with aim to enable fading type recognition based on Pout measurements, which can be further used in order to perform Quality of Service (QoS) adaptation by tuning receiver's parameters. © 2023 IEEE.
