This article delves into the intricate relationship between big data, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, shedding light on their fundamental attributes and interdependence. It explores the seamless amalgamation of AI methodologies within cloud computing and big data analytics, encompassing the development of a cloud computing framework built on the robust foundation of the Hadoop platform, enriched by AI learning algorithms. Additionally, it examines the creation of a predictive model empowered by tailored artificial intelligence techniques. Rigorous simulations are conducted to extract valuable insights, facilitating method evaluation and performance assessment, all within the dynamic Hadoop environment, thereby reaffirming the precision of the proposed approach. The results and analysis section reveals compelling findings derived from comprehensive simulations within the Hadoop environment. These outcomes demonstrate the efficacy of the Sport AI Model (SAIM) framework in enhancing the accuracy of sports-related outcome predictions. Through meticulous mathematical analyses and performance assessments, integrating AI with big data emerges as a powerful tool for optimizing decision-making in sports. The discussion section extends the implications of these results, highlighting the potential for SAIM to revolutionize sports forecasting, strategic planning, and performance optimization for players and coaches. The combination of big data, cloud computing, and AI offers a promising avenue for future advancements in sports analytics. This research underscores the synergy between these technologies and paves the way for innovative approaches to sports-related decision-making and performance enhancement.

Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) are integral components of e-healthcare systems, responsible for monitoring patients' physiological states through intelligent implantable or wearable sensor nodes. These nodes collect medical data, which is then transmitted to remote healthcare facilities for thorough evaluation. Securing medical data within WBANs is paramount due to its central role in preserving patient privacy and confidentiality. Notably, Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals have recently gained prominence as pivotal elements within diverse security frameworks. Incorporating ECG signals strategically enhances the security and reliability of WBANs and broader e-healthcare systems, instilling greater trustworthiness. This survey article provides an in-depth exploration of contemporary ECG-based security schemes, adding to the scholarly discourse. The imperative to categorize these security paradigms revolves around their use of ECG signals. This categorization identifies three key domains: the first involves schemes that utilize ECG signals for cryptographic operations, encompassing key generation, agreement, management, and authentication. The second category employs steganography-based techniques, using ECG signals to conceal patients' sensitive medical data. The third category focuses on enhancing ECG signal security during data transmission. Each category is meticulously elaborated, detailing architectural foundations, notable contributions, and intrinsic security services. Furthermore, each section presents a comprehensive overview of the attributes characterizing ECG-based security frameworks. This includes insights into employed datasets, simulation environments, evaluation metrics, and inherent advantages and limitations. Expanding on this, a thorough analysis of distinctive attributes underpinning these security frameworks concludes by shedding light on potential directions for future research. © 2023 Elsevier Inc.

Dynamic Pricing for On-Demand DNN Inference in the Edge-AI Market

The convergence of edge computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI) gives rise to Edge-AI, which enables the deployment of real-time AI applications and services at the network edge. One of the fundamental research issues in Edge-AI is edge inference acceleration, which aims to realize low-latency high-accuracy Deep Neural Network (DNN) inference services by leveraging the fine-grained offloading of partitioned inference tasks from end devices to edge servers. However, existing research has yet to adopt a practical Edge-AI market perspective, which would systematically explore the personalized inference needs of AI users (e.g., inference accuracy, latency, and task complexity), the revenue incentives for AI service providers that offer edge inference services, and multi-stakeholder governance within a market-oriented context. To bridge this gap, we propose an Auction-based Edge Inference Pricing Mechanism (AERIA) for revenue maximization to tackle the multi-dimensional optimization problem of DNN model partition, edge inference pricing, and resource allocation. We investigate the multi-exit device-edge synergistic inference scheme for on-demand DNN inference acceleration, and analyse the auction dynamics amongst the AI service providers, AI users and edge infrastructure provider. Owing to the strategic mechanism design via randomized consensus estimate and cost sharing techniques, the Edge-AI market attains several desirable properties, including competitiveness in revenue maximization, incentive compatibility, and envy-freeness, which are crucial to maintain the effectiveness, truthfulness, and fairness of our auction outcomes. The extensive simulation experiments based on four representative DNN inference workloads demonstrate that our AERIA mechanism significantly outperforms several state-of-the-art approaches in revenue maximization, demonstrating the efficacy of AERIA for on-demand DNN inference in the Edge-AI market. © 2025, CC BY.

Navigating the Future of Federated Recommendation Systems with Foundation Models

In recent years, the integration of federated learning (FL) and recommendation systems (RS), known as Federated Recommendation Systems (FRS), has attracted attention for preserving user privacy by keeping private data on client devices. However, FRSs face inherent limitations such as data heterogeneity and scarcity, due to the privacy requirements of FL and the typical data sparsity issues of RSs. Models like ChatGPT are empowered by the concept of transfer learning and self-supervised learning, so they can be easily applied to the downstream tasks after fine-tuning or prompting. These models, so-called Foundation Models (FM), focus on understanding the human’s intent and perform following their designed roles in the specific tasks, which are widely recognized for producing high-quality content in the image and language domains. Thus, the achievements of FMs inspire the design of FRS and suggest a promising research direction: integrating foundation models to address the above limitations. In this study, we conduct a comprehensive review of FRSs with FMs. Specifically, we: 1) summarise the common approaches of current FRSs and FMs;2) review the challenges posed by FRSs and FMs;3) discuss potential future research directions;and 4) introduce some common benchmarks and evaluation metrics in the FRS field. Compared with rasterization rendering, ray tracing rendering can improve the image’s visual effect and make the image look more realistic. Real-time ray tracing requires very high computing power of graphics processing unit (GPU). When the number of GPUs is limited and the performance of a single GPU cannot be fully utilized, high rendering latency will occur. In this paper, we propose Multi-Queue Concurrent Pipeline Rendering (MQCPR), a novel ray-tracing parallel rendering scheme based on GPU multi-queue. This scheme divides the image area into multiple parts and uses multi-queue of GPU to enable the computation and transmission tasks in the rendering process to be executed simultaneously, which can maximize the performance of a single GPU and improve the graphics rendering speed. MQCPR may keep the GPU busy to make full use of the GPU resources. Experiments illustrate that in the case of a single GPU, compared with the single queue serial rendering scheme, the number of frames per second (FPS) is increased by 1.5 times after using MQCPR. © 2023 SPIE. Most English foreign language (EFL) studies focus solely on human beings. This research explores how edge computing can facilitate learning for all things. The XoT (Xducation of Things) framework was proposed to educate both human and all things. All things encompass two terms: AI-Agent and smartthings (covering physical and digital smart objects). At the core of this framework is Smart Question Answer Forwarding Mechanism (SQA-Forwarding), specifically designed to assist all things in building knowledge. To demonstrate this, the smartXoT environment was developed based on XoT framework, and its impacts on EFL learners was assessed. A quasi-experimental study involving 26 EFL learners, divided into an experimental group (EG) and a control group (CG), examined the differences in learning achievement of smartthings and EFL learners when using the smartXoT environment with/without SQA-Forwarding. Findings, on one hand, indicated that smartthings in the EG developed knowledge bases greater than those in the CG. On the other hand, the interaction between EFL learners and smartthings with SQA-Forwarding significantly improved learners' writing skills, with revisions playing a crucial role in enhancing writing quality. Thus, the XoT framework offers a novel and promising approach to educating both humans and all things. © 2013 IEEE.

With the continuous development of IoT, a number of sensors establish on the roadside to monitor traffic conditions in real time. The continuously traffic data generated by these sensors makes traffic management feasible. However, loss of data may occur due to inevitable sensor failure, impeding traffic managers to understand traffic dynamics clearly. In this situation, it is becoming a necessity to predict missing traffic flow accurately for effective traffic management. Furthermore, the traffic sensor data are often distributed and stored by different agencies, which inhibits the multi-party sensor data sharing significantly due to privacy concerns. Therefore, it has become a major obstacle to balance the tradeoff between data sharing and vehicle privacy. In light of these challenges, we propose a privacy-aware and accurate missing traffic flow prediction approach based on time-aware Locality-Sensitive Hashing technique. At last, we deploy a set of experiments based on a real traffic dataset. Experimental reports demonstrate the feasibility of our proposal in terms of traffic flow prediction accuracy and efficiency while guaranteeing sensor data privacy. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

With the high speed development of information technology, the healthcare system increasingly relies on cloud servers for data storage and complex computation, patient data privacy issues stem from healthcare systems' vulnerability to breaches, despite data encryption emphasis, insufficient focus on preventing unauthorized access risks compromises patient information confidentiality. Consequently, the need to protect privacy within the healthcare system has gained significant attentions. However, existing research primarily concentrates on data encryption processes, but there is comparatively less attention given to addressing potential privacy leaks concerning data visitors. In this paper, we propose a privacy-preserving access control model for healthcare cloud data visitors. Our model combines the RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) model with the PSI (Private Set Intersection) technique to ensure the privacy and security of data visitors. The performance analysis of our proposed solution demonstrates its relative efficiency and practicality when applied to E-medical systems.

A revolutionary development in surgical practice, the incorporation of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) into minimally invasive surgery (MIS) improves patient outcomes, safety, and precision. This review article examines the development of minimally invasive surgery (MIS) and highlights its notable advantages over open surgery, including shorter recovery periods, less discomfort following surgery, and a decreased rate of complications. The article explores the function of robotic systems, in particular the da Vinci Surgical System, which has transformed surgical operations by giving doctors more dexterity and visualization using robotic arms and high-definition 3D imagery. Additionally, the application of AI technology is explored, demonstrating how it enhances real-time decision-making, intraoperative assistance, and preoperative planning, ultimately improving surgical results. The paper also discusses the ethical and regulatory issues raised by surgical robots' growing autonomy, highlighting the necessity of strong frameworks to guarantee patient safety and fair access to these cutting-edge technologies. This study highlights how artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics have the ability to change the surgical medicine landscape by combining the most recent research and clinical practices. It also calls for continued communication among stakeholders to effectively traverse the complexity of this rapidly developing sector.

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) provides users with low-latency, highly responsive services by deploying Edge Servers (ESs) near applications. MEC allows any edge-hosted application or service to be migrated between different edge resource providers without being locked into a single provider. Nevertheless, due to its complexity and dynamics, the real edge computing environment is prone to errors and failures, reducing the reliability of edge service migration. This paper proposes a novel fault-tolerant method for redundant path service migration. The method utilizes sliding-window-based model and identifies a set of service migration paths, enabling the evaluation of the time-varying failure rate of ESs. The method combines resubmission and replication mechanisms and decides the edge service migration scheme by selecting multiple redundant migration paths. We also conduct extensive simulations and show that our proposed method outperforms traditional solutions in several metrics. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
