This paper deals with the analysis of the ECG signal during the same everyday activities of 5 people working together. The purpose of the work is to determine the influence of such factors as eating, working or walking on the pulse and the average heartbeat shape. The inter-beat intervals and R values are measured and examined. Authors try to draw conclusions which will help them in developing the real-time ECG analysis and diagnostics system. This will help monitor the person all day long and alert the right people in case of emergency.

Context is information that describes the situations in which computing, social and physical interactions take place. The complexity and scope of context information available for utilization by context-consuming applications, such as those executing on smart mobile devices, sensing and tracking platforms, etc. is growing with the increased integration of digital artifacts in smart environments. Similarly, the uptake of Cloud computing has significantly influenced the traditional information processing and infrastructure provision models by offering an agile, scalable and cost effective computing paradigm. This is leading to the adoption of Cloud-based solutions for the pervasive and ubiquitous environments, however, there are significant challenges that need to be overcome before its exploitation by real world applications and users. The context information consumed and produced by the applications and devices needs to be represented, disseminated, processed and consumed by numerous components in a context-aware Cloud system. Significant amount of context consumption, production and processing takes place on devices and there is limited or no support for collaborative modeling, persistence and processing between the device-Cloud ecosystems. In this paper we propose an environment for context processing in a Cloud-based distributed infrastructure that offloads complex context processing from the applications and devices. An experimental analysis of complexity based context-processing categories has been carried out to establish the processing-load boundary. The results demonstrate that the proposed collaborative device-Cloud infrastructure provides significant performance and energy conservation benefits for mobile devices and applications.

This paper proposes a 6-DOF (Degree of Freedom) heavy-load parallel manipulator with a redundant actuation and fault-tolerant actuator (RFTA). The novel RFTA model of the proposed manipulator is developed and its working principle is described. In order to achieve the given motion, the mathematic models of the proposed manipulator with the RFTA are derived. As a prototype of an earthquake simulator, two experiments are performed. The experimental results demonstrate that the RFTA is able to supply the required double driving force and appropriate used as an actuator of a low frequency earthquake simulator. The results of the fault-tolerant experiment show the earthquake simulator with the RFTA is capable of tolerating some local faults. The proposed parallel manipulator can also be applied under other heavy-load environments.

This paper presents the results of an on-going project and investigates modelling and remote control issues of an industry excavator. The details of modelling, communication, and control of a remotely controllable excavator are studied. The paper mainly focuses on trajectory tracking control of the excavator base and robust control of the excavator arm. These will provide the fundamental base for our next research step. In addition, extensive simulation results for trajectory tracking of the excavator base and robust control of the excavator arm are given. Finally, conclusions and further work have been identified.

In recent years, various different modeling languages and tools were developed to support the process of modeling in the field of software engineering. The usability of modeling languages has not been explicitly considered in past research. Most usability evaluation surveys are mainly focusing on applications, websites, software and technical products. Hence, usability has not been considered within the development of current languages for conceptual modeling such as EPC and UML diagrams. The objective of this paper is the adoption of existing usability definitions to modeling languages. In recent years, various object and process oriented modelling methods were developed to support the process of modelling in enterprises. When applying these methods, graphical models are generated and used to depict various aspects of enterprise architectures. Concerning this, surveys analyzing modelling languages in different ways were conducted. In many cases these surveys include experimental data collection methods. At this juncture the complexity of concrete models often affects output of these studies. To ensure complexity value comparability of different models, a generic metric for measuring complexity of models is proposed.
