A new Internet protocol (IPv6) is being deployed with new features and improvements for the devices that are connected to the network. Unfortunately, the current Internet Protocol (IPv4) and the new Internet Protocol (IPv6) are incompatible with each other. During the time of migration from IPv4 to IPv6 networks, when both versions are available and the users of Internet want to connect without any restrictions, a transition mechanism is required. A number of transition mechanisms have been proposed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) in order to ensure smooth and independent changeover from IPv4 to IPv6 networks. In this paper, we propose a new flexible transition scheme which is known as the Bi-Directional Mapping System (BDMS) that deals with the IPv4/IPv6 address mapping transition as well as converting the received packets to their destination environment. Our new transition scheme (BDMS) is simple, efficient, and easy to implement. BDMS reduces the packet size compared with tunneling mechanisms and reduces the costs of the IPv6 network compared with the dual stack mechanisms.

Teaching engineering and technology subjects involves conveying understanding of abstract information structures and processes such as complex telecommunications protocols, complex mathematical concepts, and data structures. These are multidimensional and can be difficult to grasp quickly. Supported by a Hewlett-Packard (HP) technology for Teaching grant, the School of Engineering and technology at National University has embarked on a project to enable students to grasp these complex concepts more quickly and easily, using continuous dialog among students and instructors as the structures are first introduced and then examined from multiple perspectives through real-time interaction among students, small groups, and instructors. HP Wireless Tablet PCs are used to discuss and experiment with diagrams and processes in realtime. This allows combining lectures and problem-solving sessions into a single class session. Our hypothesis is that: 1) an in-depth learning of theory is accomplished, and 2) student engagement is enhanced. Presentation of theory by the instructor is integrated with application while the theory is still in the student's short-term memory. Students no longer have to wait for a separate session such as a recitation session to apply the concepts. This approach often takes less time. In addition to accelerating the learning process, expert instructors find this approach more rewarding as students grasp new concepts more quickly. Analysis of data captured from both students and instructors are presented to support our hypotheses, and our results are compared with similar research carried out by other universities. In addition, the level of interaction enabled by the use of HP Tablets in on-line classes is discussed. The best teaching tools available in existing on-line teaching platforms are compared with the additional tools available in on-site courses when every student has a wireless Tablet PC and specific recommendations are made to on-line teachi

Building a generic Part-of-Speech (POS) tagger system without a lexicon (dictionary) depends on the language and the characteristics of its grammar, both the morphological and the syntactical systems of that language. Arabic language has a valuable and important feature, called diacritics, which are marks placed over and below the letters of Arabic word. This paper presents a novel algorithm to assign the correct POS tag to those words belonging to a verb or a noun class in an Arabic text. The algorithm is based on the pattern (wazn) of the word instead of using a huge manually tagged lexicon from which large amounts of training data can be extracted. An experiment was ran on a data set that contains 5,000 words belonging to a noun and a verb class to evaluate the accuracy of the algorithm. The algorithm is achieved an accuracy of 91%.

There are many measurement methodologies used to measure the quality of stemming algorithms and to evaluate their effectiveness. All of these measurement are designed for English language. In this study we trying to check the viability of the Paice evaluation method as a stemmer measurement approach for Arabic language. Eight experiments are designed for this aim. Conclusions about the experiments and the viability of the Paice evaluation for Arabic are reported.

Construction is a complex process involving many different stakeholders. It is important that information among these stakeholders flows smoothly. A crucial aspect of the success of a project depends on the effective sharing of knowledge among the different people. Trust is important for knowledge transfer especially for online applications. There are different types of trust that have implications for knowledge sharing among the construction teams. This paper describes the importance of trust that we have identified during knowledge sharing among four construction projects in Finland. It begins with identification of the needs of online technology among construction teams. It is followed by a brief review of the different types of online trust. Section Three describes the case study methodology. In Section Four the implications of the online trust among construction teams are then discussed. Section Five concludes with suggestions for promoting trust among construction teams for knowledge sharing.

In this paper, an index structure - BR-tree for spatial data , is proposed by combining the division for spatial data objects with bi-tree. In the structure, the topological relations between spatial data objects are recorded and the overlap between brother nodes is as small as possible. And the algorithm for constructing the BR-tree is presented and its time complexity is given. Finally, the algorithms for node insertion and range query are obtained.

The adoption and diffusion of e-health and the application of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in healthcare is being heralded as the panacea with both European and US governments making e-health a priority on their agendas. In this context, a model of network centric healthcare operations has been proffered as the best way to maximize the benefits of ICT use in healthcare as well as to facilitate the rapid sharing of information and effective knowledge building required for the development of coherent objectives and their subsequent attainment in order that the full benefits of e-health can be realized. Integral to the success and sustainability of such a model is the need to embrace the tools and techniques of Knowledge Management (KM). In this paper, we discuss the critical role of KM in such a context.

The main contribution of this paper is a practical application of generalised neural networks for a dextrous hand moved by Shape Memory Alloys (SMA). Since SMA have highly non-linear characteristics and their parameters depend on the environment (mainly on temperature) so the robot hand is controlled by a generalised neural network, which can learn the actual non-linear characteristics of the robot hand. The experimental setup consists of a 20 degree of freedom hand moved by SMA string used as artificial muscle. A video camera is used to detect the position of Joints. The position is then sent to the visual display computer via the Internet, which displays the hand in 3D using OpenGl.
