Multimedia documents such as pictures, videos, sounds and text provoke emotional responses of different intensity and polarity. These stimuli are stored in affective multimedia databases together with description of their semantics based on keywords from unsupervised glossaries, expected emotion elicitation potential and other important contextual information. Affective multimedia databases are important in many different areas of research, such as affective computing, human-computer interaction and cognitive sciences, where it is necessary to deliberately modulate emotional states of individuals. However, restrictions in the employed semantic data models impair retrieval performance measures thus severely limiting the databases’ overall usability. An experimental evaluation of multi-keyword search in affective multimedia databases, using lift charts as binomial classifiers optimized for retrieval precision or sensitivity, is presented. Suggestions for improving expressiveness and formality of data models are elaborated, as well as introduction of dedicated ontologies which could lead to better data interoperability. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2016.

One of the most common kinds of cancer is breast *** early detection of it may help lower its overall rates of *** this paper,we robustly propose a novel approach for detecting and classifying breast cancer regions in thermal *** proposed approach starts with data preprocessing the input images and segmenting the significant regions of *** addition,to properly train the machine learning models,data augmentation is applied to increase the number of segmented regions using various scaling *** the other hand,to extract the relevant features from the breast cancer cases,a set of deep neural networks(VGGNet,ResNet-50,AlexNet,and GoogLeNet)are *** resulting set of features is processed using the binary dipper throated algorithm to select the most effective features that can realize high classification *** selected features are used to train a neural network to finally classify the thermal images of breast *** achieve accurate classification,the parameters of the employed neural network are optimized using the continuous dipper throated optimization *** results show the effectiveness of the proposed approach in classifying the breast cancer cases when compared to other recent approaches in the ***,several experiments were conducted to compare the performance of the proposed approach with the other *** results of these experiments emphasized the superiority of the proposed approach.

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in cloud computing as a means to enhance user access to shared computing resources, including software and hardware, through the internet. However, the efficient utilization of these cloud resources has been a challenge, often resulting in wastage or degraded service performance due to inadequate scheduling. To overcome this challenge, numerous researchers have focused on improving existing Priority Rule (PR) cloud schedulers by developing dynamic scheduling algorithms, but they have fallen short of meeting user satisfaction. In this study, we introduce a new PR scheduler called Priority Based Fair Scheduling (PBFS), which takes into account key parameters such as CPU Time, Job Arrival Time, and Job Length. We evaluate the performance of PBFS by comparing it with five existing algorithms, and the results demonstrate that PBFS surpasses the performance of the other algorithms. The experiment was conducted using the CloudSim simulator, utilizing a dataset of 300 and 400 jobs. In order to assess the performance, three key metrics were employed: flow time, makespan time, and total tardiness. These metrics were chosen to evaluate and analyze the effectiveness of the proposed scheduling algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

Resent advancement in networking and communication system helped to enhance various domains, including the healthcare. The invention of the cloud computing, Internet of medical things (IoMT), and artificial intelligence (AI) invented the Healthcare 4.0, which supports the monitoring and examination of a variety of medical information using the digital techniques. This research aims to develop a diagnostic framework for the pandemic-healthcare-data (PHD) using the IoMT scheme. The proposed framework considers the examination of the patients admitted with the COVID-19 infection and supports the following procedures;(i) collecting the preliminary information about the patient, (ii) collecting the disease information, (iii) getting the experts opinion regarding the treatment planning and implementation, (iv) monitoring the patient, and (v) preserving the disease information for future use. The proposed scheme is developed by considering the COVID-19 PHD, and the methodology employed is discussed with a chosen procedures. When this scheme is implemented, the preserved data can be used to develop a medical model, which supports a quick diagnosis and timely treatment to recover the patient. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Inequalities and convexity properties known for the gamma function are extended to the q-gamma function, 0 > q > 1. Applying some classical inequalities for convex functions, we deduce monotonicity results for several functions involving the q-gamma function. Phytochemical screening, antioxidant properties, and photocytotoxicity of Clinacanthus nutans leaf extracts

Clinacanthus nutans (Burm. f.) Lindau (C. nutans) is renowned in many tropical countries for its wide range of traditional uses and medicinal properties. This study qualitatively screened ethanol, hexane, and ethyl acetate (EA) leaf extracts of C. nutans for phytochemicals and evaluated their antioxidant activities using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) assays. Furthermore, the photocytotoxicity of the extracts against the A431 human skin squamous carcinoma cells was assessed using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Qualitative phytochemicals screening revealed the presence of terpenes, alkaloids, phenols, quinones, and chlorophyll, whereas flavonoids and anthraquinones were absent in all crude extracts. In the DPPH assay, the EA crude extract exhibited the lowest EC₅₀ value of 31 ± 2 μg/mL, whereas the same extract demonstrated the highest FRAP value of 7.42 ± 1.87 mmol Fe2+/g DW. After photodynamic therapy (PDT) activation, EA crude extract demonstrated the strongest photocytotoxic activity against A431 cells with an IC₅₀ value of 8 ± 1 μg/mL, followed by the hexane crude extract (IC₅₀ = 16 ± 2 μg/mL) and the ethanol crude extract (IC₅₀ = 20 ± 1 μg/mL). However, all three crude extracts showed negligible activity against the A431 cells in the absence of PDT treatment, even at concentrations as high as 200 μg/mL after 24 h of dark incubation. These findings suggest that C. nutans could serve as a potential source of natural antioxidants and photosensitizers for photodynamic therapy in cancer treatment. © 2023, The Author(s) under exclusive licence to Society for Plant Research.
