Nonlinear Impulsive Control Design for Biologically Grounded NSM Tumor Growth Model Using Exact Linearized Mapping

This paper investigates the problem of personalized chemotherapy scheduling using a system-modeling approach based on a nonlinear impulsive control technique. In particular, this work deals with the so-called Norton-Simon-Massagué (NSM) model, a minimal biologically grounded model for controlled tumor growth, which has been accepted in clinical oncology for breast cancer treatment. In this paper, we continue this line of research, to advance the concept of closed-loop control a step further towards widespread clinical use. In the present work, the problem of chemotherapy drug scheduling is approached using an impulsive control strategy combined with a state-space observer. The technical challenges of the nonlinearity of the controlled system and the impulsive nature of control input are handled via the utilization of a novel mapping that transforms the control problem into a “simplified” linear discrete-time control problem. Theoretical guarantees regarding the sign and invertibility of the proposed transformation are demonstrated. Then, an observer-based state feedback controller is proposed for chemotherapy drug scheduling as a proof-of-concept control strategy. Simulation results showing the performance of the designed closed-loop controlled chemotherapy schedules in reducing and eradicating tumor volume are provided using model's parameters derived using real tumor data and Doxirubicin drug.

Min orderings and list homomorphism dichotomies for signed and unsigned graphs

The CSP dichotomy conjecture has been recently established, but a number of other dichotomy questions remain open, including the dichotomy classification of list homomorphism problems for signed graphs. Signed graphs arise naturally in many contexts, including for instance nowhere-zero flows for graphs embedded in non-orientable surfaces. For a fixed signed graph Hb, the list homomorphism problem asks whether an input signed graph Ĝ with lists L(v) ⊆ V (Ĥ ), v ∈ V (Ĝ), admits a homomorphism f to Ĥ with all f(v) ∈ L(v), v ∈ V (Ĝ). Usually, a dichotomy classification is easier to obtain for list homomorphisms than for homomorphisms, but in the context of signed graphs a structural classification of the complexity of list homomorphism problems has not even been conjectured, even though the classification of the complexity of homomorphism problems is known. Kim and Siggers have conjectured a structural classification in the special case of "weakly balanced" signed graphs. We confirm their conjecture for reflexive and irreflexive signed graphs;this generalizes previous results on weakly balanced signed trees, and weakly balanced separable signed graphs [2,1]. In the reflexive case, the result was first presented in [18], with the proof using some of our results included in this paper. In fact, here we present our full proof, as an alternative to the proof in [18]. In particular, we provide direct polynomial algorithms where previously algorithms relied on general dichotomy theorems. The irreflexive results are new, and their proof depends on first deriving a theorem on extensions of min orderings of (unsigned) bipartite graphs, which is interesting on its own. In both cases the dichotomy classification depends on a result linking the absence of certain structures called chains and invertible pairs to the existence of a so-called special min ordering. Bladder cancer (BC) remains a significant global health challenge, requiring the development of accurate predictive models for diagnosis. In this study, a new Binary Modified White Whale Optimization (B-MBWO) algorithm is proposed to address the BC problem. The proposed method utilizes circular transitivity optimization and the Probabilistic State Mutation Algorithm (PSMA) to enhance its optimization performance. The new method is called the BBWORCPS algorithm. High-dimensional and complex medical datasets pose challenges to the original optimization algorithms in addressing the BC problem, motivating the proposed modifications to the original Beluga Whale Optimization algorithm. These enhancements, including quantum-inspired mutation and circular crossing, aim to improve solution space exploration and enhance the algorithm's effectiveness in handling intricate feature spaces. Through comprehensive experiments on BC datasets, the superiority of the BBWORCPS algorithm in terms of feature selection accuracy and computational efficiency is demonstrated compared to existing optimization methods. The obtained findings suggest that BBWORCPS offers a promising approach for developing more precise and reliable predictive models for bladder cancer analysis. © 2024 The Author(s)

This paper investigates the problem of nonfragile observer-based tracking control for a class of fuzzy fast-sampling singularly perturbed systems (SPSs) with sensor saturation, which subject to event-triggered scheme and random cyber-attacks. The switching topology of the fast-sampling SPSs is dominated by a dual-layer switching mechanism, in this case, the Markov process in the underlying system is nonhomogeneous and its time-varying transition probabilities (TPs) are governed by a persistent dwell-time switching signal. First, in order to avoid asynchronous phenomenon of premise variable between the fuzzy fast-sampling SPSs and the fuzzy controller under network environments, the non-parallel distributed compensation (non-PDC) technique is applied to improve the design flexibility and reduce the conservativeness of the results. Furthermore, a novel fuzzy tracking control design scheme is proposed, in which integrating the fuzzy nonfragile observer and reference model signal into the synthetic design of the tracking controller can be expected to reduce the tracking error. Second, by constructing a well-designed time-delay and mode-dependent Lyapunov function, some sufficient conditions are derived such that the closed-loop system is mean-square exponential stable and with extended dissipative tracking performance. Finally, the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed control protocol are illustrated by two simulation examples. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This study aims to analyze flow stability using a computational intelligence technique that integrates a Levenberg-Marquardt approach utilizing artificial intelligence implemented through a backpropagation neural network. AI-based LMS-BPNN approach is utilized to examine the flow behavior of Eyring Powell hybrid nanofluid over a porous shrinking sheet. By applying skillful transformations, a set of ordinary differential equations is obtained from the partial differential equations that describe the hybrid nanofluid. Scenarios 1–5 illustrate how the built-in MATLAB function, bvp4c, solves ordinary differential equations systems by carefully modifying input parameters to get the initial or reference solution. The numerical data was split into three groups: 10 % for testing, 10 % for validation, and 80 % for training. The LMS-BPNN was used to find approximate solutions for these scenarios. To verify the effectiveness and reliability of LMS-BPNN, we employed regression analysis, error metrics, and correlation index (R)-based fitness curves. In each scenario, the temperature and velocity profiles gradually approached the boundary conditions as expected. The flow performance outcomes for the dual solution (Cfx and Nux) are also analyzed using the LMS-BPNN method. The perturbation scheme is applied to the boundary layer problem to obtain the eigenvalues problem. The unsteady solution f(η,τ) converges to steady solution fo(η) for τ→∞ when γ≥0. Soil organic matter (SOM) is a fundamental soil constituent. The estimation of this parameter in the laboratory using the classical method is complex time-consuming and requires the use of chemical re-agents. The objectives of this study were to assess the accuracy of two laboratory measurement setups of the VIS-NIR spectroscopy in estimating SOM content and determine the important spectral bands in the SOM estimation model. A total of 115 soil samples were collected from the non-root zone (0-20 cm) of soil in the study area of the Triffa Plain and then analysed for SOM in the laboratory by the Walkley-Black method. The reflectance spectra of soil samples were measured by two protocols, Contact Probe (CP) and Pistol Grip (PG)) of the ASD spectroradiometer (350-2500 nm) in the laboratory. Partial least squares regression (PLSR) was used to develop the prediction models. The results of coefficient of determination (R2) and the root mean square error (RMSE) showed that the pistol grip offers reasonable accuracy with an R2=0.93 and RMSE=0.13 compared to the contact probe protocol with an R2=0.85 and RMSE = 0.19. The near-Infrared range were more accurate than those in the visible range for pre-dicting SOM using the both setups (CP and PG). The significant wavelengths contributing to the pre-diction of SOM for (PG) setup were at:424, 597, 1432, 1484, 1830,1920, 2200, 2357 and 2430 nm, while were at 433, 587, 1380, 1431, 1929, 2200 and 2345 nm for (CP) setup.

The complexity of the list homomorphism problem for signed graphs appears difficult to classify. Existing results focus on special classes of signed graphs, such as trees [4] and reflexive signed graphs [25]. Irreflexive signed graphs are in a certain sense the heart of the problem, as noted by a recent paper of Kim and Siggers. We focus on a special class of irreflexive signed graphs, namely those in which the unicoloured edges form a spanning path or cycle, which we call separable signed graphs. We classify the complexity of list homomorphisms to these separable signed graphs;we believe that these signed graphs will play an important role for the general resolution of the irreflexive case. We also relate our results to a conjecture of Kim and Siggers concerning the special case of semi-balanced irreflexive signed graphs;we have proved the conjecture in another paper, and the present results add structural information to that topic. The government of Bangladesh has implemented the “Stay Home” policy following the WHO recommendation to resist the community transmission of Covid-19. As a result, the routine activities of all government, semi-government establishments, including educational institutions, are severely affected, and the country's economic growth becomes slowed down. To overcome such a situation, the relevant authorities have introduced the “Work from Home” policy for the employees and “Remote Education” for students. However, due to the persistence of multi-dimensional socio-economic problems, many employees and students face big challenges in performing their regular jobs while adopting such a policy. Consequently, enormous psychological anxiety has been developed for all people, including students, parents, employees, etc., and concurrently created severe changes in their behavior. This study aims to analyze the reasons for the behavioral changes of the employees, students, academic staff, and family members of different ages due to psychological anxiety, stress, or physical issues. A comprehensive online-based survey has been carried out on people working in various sectors in Bangladesh. A modified Apriori Algorithm has been used to sort out the associations between the causes and types of behavioral changes. Analyzed data revealed a massive human behavioral change in most participants. This finding indicates that the negligence of those significant human behavioral changes may cause a higher risk of creating psychological imbalance. Therefore, there is a need to have a solid understanding of the reasons for the behavioral changes and set up standard guidelines to maintain “Work from Home” in this Covid-19 situation to avoid psychological imbalance. Based on this study, some suggestions have been given for implementation by the government on an urgent basis. © 2023

CB-HVTNet: A channel-boosted hybrid vision transformer network for lymphocyte assessment in histopathological images

Transformers, due to their ability to learn long-range dependencies, have overcome the shortcomings of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for global perspective learning. However, their multi-head attention module only captures global-level feature representations, which is insufficient for medical images. To address this issue, we propose a Channel Boosted Hybrid Vision Transformer (CB-HVT) that uses transfer learning to generate boosted channels and employs both transformers and CNNs to analyse lymphocytes in histopathological images. The proposed CB-HVT comprises five modules to effectively identify lymphocytes. Its (i) channel generation module, uses the idea of channel boosting through transfer learning to extract diverse channels from different auxiliary learners. These boosted channels are first concatenated and ranked using an attention mechanism in the (ii) channel exploitation module. A fusion block is then utilized in the (iii) channel merging module for a gradual and systematic merging of the diverse boosted channels to improve the network’s learning representations. The CB-HVT also employs a proposal network in its (iv) region aware module followed by its (v) detection and segmentation head to accurately identify and distinguish objects, even in the regions with crowded presence and artifacts. We evaluated the proposed CB-HVT on two publicly available datasets for lymphocyte assessment in histopathological images. The results demonstrate that CB-HVT has a good generalization on unseen data therefore, it can serve as a valuable tool for pathologists. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Healthcare data is sensitive and requires great protection. Encrypted electronic health records (EHRs) contain personal and sensitive data such as names and addresses. Having access to patient data benefits all of them. This paper proposes a blockchain-based distributed healthcare application platform for Bangladeshi public and private healthcare providers. Using data immutability and smart contracts, the suggested application framework allows users to create safe digital agreements for commerce or collaboration. Thus, all enterprises may securely collaborate using the same blockchain network, gaining data openness and read/write capacity. The proposed application consists of various application interfaces for various system users. For data integrity, privacy, permission and service availability, the proposed solution leverages Hyperledger fabric and Blockchain as a Service. Everyone will also have their own profile in the portal. A unique identity for each person and the installation of digital information centres across the country have greatly eased the process. It will collect systematic health data from each person which will be beneficial for research institutes and health-related organisations. A national data warehouse in Bangladesh is feasible for this application and It is also possible to keep a clean health sector by analysing data stored in this warehouse and conducting various purification algorithms using technologies like Data science.
