The two topics of the article seem to have absolutely nothing to do with each other and,as can be expected in a contribution in honor and memory of *** Ackermann,they are linked in his ***-based Navigation was the focus of the doctoral thesis written by the author,the 29th and last PhD thesis supervised by *** International Master’s Program Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics,which the author established with colleagues at Stuttgart University of applied sciences(HfT Stuttgart)in 1999,was a consequence of ***’s benevolent promotion of international knowledge transfer in *** topics are reflected in this article;they provide further splashes of color in ***’s oeuvre.

This work provides a basis for studying energy management optimisation in power-split hybrid electric vehicles (PSHEVs) to reduce fuel consumption and increase powertrain efficiency by enforcing a strategy related to battery level and vehicle speed. Three modes were used to operate the vehicle to meet different situations related to available energy and desired speed. These are particularly abundance mode, ascetic mode and optimal mode. For this, a system was designed based on several sub-models written in the discrete EVent system (DEVS) specification. The vehicle's power train and control strategy models were created in the DEVSimPy environment, and a joint simulation was carried out from the composite sub models until the overall model is reached. Simulation results under several driving cycles showed that the proposed system improves the energy consumption of the vehicle in different operating modes of the engines and gives more opportunities to adopt electric motors in vehicle transmission. © 2024 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

This work is devoted to the study of the dynamics of one-dimensional monotone nonautonomous(cocycle) dynamical systems. A description of the structures of their invariant sets, omega limit sets,Bohr/Levitan almost periodic and almost automorphic motions, global attractors, and pinched and minimalsets is given. An application of our general results is given to scalar differential and difference equations.

In this work, a novel methodological approach to multi-attribute decision-making problems is developed and the notion of Heptapartitioned Neutrosophic Set Distance Measures (HNSDM) is introduced. By averaging the Penta-Partitioned Neutrosophic Distance Measures under particular conditional criteria, the suggested technique ranks the options. Additionally, we explore the fundamental characteristics of HNSDM and provide several illustrative theorems. The Heptapartitioned Neutrosophic Set Distance Measures are formulated based on the Hepta Neutrosophic Set. Lastly, a practical numerical example is provided to illustrate the efficacy of the suggested methodology. © 2025, University of New Mexico. All rights reserved.

Teaching Tip Rethinking How We Teach Git: Pedagogical Recommendations and Practical Strategies for the Information Systems Curriculum

Git, as the leading version-control system, is frequently employed by software developers, digital product managers, and knowledge workers. Information systems (IS) students aspiring to fill software engineering, management, or research positions would therefore benefit from familiarity with Git. However, teaching Git effectively can be challenging, as students in IS and other disciplines report themselves overwhelmed by the plethora of Git’s detailed commands and options, including those involved in local setup and secure shell (SSH) connections. From our view, such technical considerations distract students, and even prevent them from developing a deeper understanding of the Git model and its underlying concepts. Ideally, teaching efforts should convey a solid understanding of the Git model and thereby enable students to ask the right questions and look up the relevant commands. With this teaching tip, we therefore challenge the common approach to organizing Git teaching materials. In particular, we draw on established pedagogical theory to propose a novel approach that employs a new, macro-level ordering of contents beginning with the concept of branches and then proceeding to committing and collaboration. We present several practical strategies that make this approach feasible. In addition, we recommend that teachers clearly separate conceptual from applied learning and present the more challenging transfer questions at the end of the course. DP-ARTS: Dynamic Prioritization for Adaptive Resource Allocation and Task Scheduling in Cloud Computing

Efficient task scheduling and resource allocation are essential for optimizing performance in cloud computing environments. The presence of priority constraints necessitates advanced solutions capable of addressing the increased complexity in the task scheduling process and resource allocation management. In this paper, we propose a novel approach, Dynamic Prioritization and Adaptive Resource Allocation and Task Scheduling (DP-ARTS), to tackle these challenges by integrating dynamic task prioritization with adaptive resource allocation and scheduling strategies. Our approach introduces a scoring mechanism to prioritize tasks based on deadlines, resource requirements, and other critical characteristics. Furthermore, we utilize K-means clustering to group Virtual Machines (VMs) according to their capabilities, facilitating more efficient task-to-VM mapping. Through simulations conducted with real-world workload traces in the CloudSim toolkit, DP-ARTS demonstrates superior performance in reducing makespan and energy consumption, while also improving resource utilization and load balancing compared to existing solutions. © (2025), (International Association of Engineers). Optimizing therapy and rehabilitation for Parkinson's disease (PD) requires early identification and precise evaluation of the illness's course. However, there is disagreement about the best way to use gait analysis to categorize the severity of motor symptoms and identify early-stage Parkinson's disease. The precision of machine learning (ML) models in identifying early and intermediate stages of Parkinson's disease was assessed in this study. Six ML models are used in this study for the prediction of PD. Different metrics are used to evaluate ML models such as accuracy, precision, recall, f1-score, and AUC score. Then we propose a multi-criteria decision-making methodology (MCDM) to evaluate the ML models and select the best one. Two MCDM methods are used such as CRITIC method to compute the criteria weights and the TOPSIS method to rank the alternatives. These methods are used under the bipolar neutrosophic sets (BNSs) to deal with uncertainty information. The results show the support vector machine is the best ML model for the prediction of PD. © 2025, University of New Mexico. All rights reserved.

This study presents the design of a modified attributed control chart based on a double sampling(DS)np chart applied in combination with generalized multiple dependent state(GMDS)sampling to monitor the mean life of the product based on the time truncated life test employing theWeibull *** control chart developed supports the examination of the mean lifespan variation for a particular product in the process of *** control limit levels are used:the warning control limit,inner control limit,and outer control ***,they enhance the capability for variation detection.A genetic algorithm can be used for optimization during the in-control process,whereby the optimal parameters can be established for the proposed control *** control chart performance is assessed using the average run length,while the influence of the model parameters upon the control chart solution is assessed via sensitivity analysis based on an orthogonal experimental design withmultiple linear regression.A comparative study was conducted based on the out-of-control average run length,in which the developed control chart offered greater sensitivity in the detection of process shifts while making use of smaller samples on average than is the case for existing control ***,to exhibit the utility of the developed control chart,this paper presents its application using simulated data with parameters drawn from the real set of data.

Underwater Acoustic Communication Using Multi-Layer Vector Approximate Message Passing Evaluated on the Watermark Benchmark

The multi-layer vector approximate message passing algorithm is applied to the problem of channel estimation in underwater acoustic communication addressing the estimation of time-varying channel characteristics. A pre-trained artificial neural network is used as prior for the channel estimation. The communication receiver is designed as a factor graph with a low-density parity check decoder as factor node. The performance of the proposed communication scheme is evaluated by comparing the bit error rates with classical communication schemes. The bit error rate is significantly decreased on strongly time-varying channels. Different datasets are compared for training the channel estimator. © 2013 IEEE.

Self-paced learning engenders flexibility, individuality and autonomy, allowing learners to acquire knowledge at their convenience. Learners, in fact, increasingly seek flexible and personalized learning experiences. They require systems that not only accommodate but also enhance their learning journeys. This paper presents the combination of artificial intelligence (AI) features and the design of interaction and communication in a learning format that fosters learners' acquisition of comprehensive and sustainable knowledge. The primary focus of our approach is on individuals who are new to the course subject or possess limited prior knowledge. Recognizing the importance of structured and coherent content, our learning format emphasizes uniformity in both appearance and language across text and quiz pages. Such consistency is crucial for building a stable conceptual framework, which facilitates a deeper understanding of the subject matter. By minimizing extraneous cognitive load, we enable learners to concentrate on the intrinsic elements of the content, thereby enhancing their learning experience. A significant aspect of our design is the strategic use of natural language. Consistent language aids in the formation of domain-specific conceptual frameworks, which are essential for sustainable knowledge acquisition. © 2024 IEEE.
