A network with critical data streams, where the timing of incoming and outgoing data is a necessity, is called a deterministic network. These networks are mostly used in association with real-time systems that use periodic hard-real-time data which need to be scheduled. The algorithm proposed in this paper is focused on achieving the lowest possible latency within the specified network topology depending on the physical parameters of the network and the periodic requirements of the communicating nodes. The algorithm allows to add priorities to the data flow between nodes and also the option to specify if preemption is allowed within the network, since not all devices support it. The result is a schedule of hard-real-time data communication within a specified network topology where all requirements of communicating nodes are met if such a solution is possible. © 2023 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Understanding the Heat Transfer Coefficient (HTC) is essential for evaluating cooling media used in the immersion quenching of steels. This HTC characterizes the heat exchange between the immersed workpiece and the quenchant. Calculating the HTC involves solving an inverse heat transfer problem, which typically requires stochastic optimization algorithms. These algorithms use iterative processes and can be computationally demanding, often needing hundreds or thousands of iterations to find a *** reduce this computational burden, this paper introduces an initialization technique that employs a non-iterative approach to solve the inverse heat transfer problem. The proposed method uses an artificial neural network (ANN), specifically a multilayer feedforward neural network trained with the backpropagation algorithm. A synthetic database with 150,000 records of heat transfer coefficients, determined as a function of temperature, is created for training the network. Unconventionally, the Fourier transform of the cooling curve is used as input for the inference ***, the performance of the neural network is compared with other conventional learning algorithms. Results show that when combined with stochastic algorithms, the ANN achieves comparable solutions in a shorter amount of time. Copyright © 2024 ASM International® All rights reserved.

The modern world's space exploration achievements and outer world settlement milestones make the requirement for a reliable and constant source of electric energy critical to progress and establishment in the first place. That is a subject approached by many, and so many specific designs have been theorized, created and successfully implemented on missions - however, this paper focuses on implementation of Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactor in plans for Martian settlements, detailing possibilities of self-sustainability of such an energy source. The proposed reactor is a type of molten salt reactor, fueled by nuclear fuel in molten salts. This paper explores the technology and as-per-today suggestions for salt combinations, as well as reagents form, and presence on Mars, extraction methods, chemical production chain and alternatives. © 2022 British Interplanetary Society. We introduce a generalized differential operator Δ_α,n^m, which extends the functionality of the Bessel type operator Δ_α^m. The aim of this paper is to develop a new harmonic analysis related to Δ_α,n^m. We define the generalized canonical Fourier-Bessel transform F_α,n^m, and study some of its important properties. Some useful properties of the considered transform such as Riemann-Lebesgue lemma, inversion formula, operational formulas, Plancherel formula, Paley-Wiener theorem, and Babenko type inequality are derived. In the present paper the Heisenberg inequality, Hardy theorem, Nash-type inequality, Carlson-type inequality, and global uncertainty principle are given. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

The possibility of creating digital twins of physical objects for cultural heritage and electronics industry, is explored in this paper. Anyway, the presented approach could be applied to digital objects of any nature. The proposed seven-dimensional (7D) digital twin model extends beyond the standard three-dimensional voxel representation, incorporating full color representation via XYZ color coordinates, surface structure through optical coherence tomography, surface composition through spectral fingerprint and surface sound. Various technologies that can be used for this new type of 7D scanning are discussed, as well as a proposed file format for storing these digital twins. The benefits and current limitations of this process are also explored, with suggested strategies for overcoming these limitations. The creation of 7D digital twins presents new opportunities for preservation, study, and access to physical objects, and has the potential to revolutionize the way cultural heritage is experienced and shared. Exploration on combining digital twins with machine learning has also been done. © 2023 University of Split, FESB.

The article presents the possibilities of using retinal images for identification of persons using biometric technologies. The properties of the retina that are used for identification are completely unique to each person and do not change over time. The probability that two exactly the same retinal vasculature patterns will be mismatched is very low to zero. Therefore, the use of retina for biometric identification is rated as very accurate in contrast to the reliability of other biometric methods and is used in areas with the highest security requirements. For a comprehensive understanding of the issue, the article contains an overview of biometric technologies, biometric properties and their characteristics. The processing principle and user requirements are described, the advantages and disadvantages of individual technologies are summarized. Subsequently, their reliability is compared according to established criteria. Since identification using the retina turns out to be the most reliable, the article only focuses more specifically on it. The structure of the eye and retina is described in detail, the principle of obtaining, storing and comparing images with the aim of achieving a result in the form of agreement or disagreement between two images. Emphasis is also placed on the safe storage of information obtained in this way with regard to the GDPR in the European Union. At the end of the article, the assessment of the reliability of the biometric system, the financial demands and the possibilities of implementation in companies where the risk of attack and the amount of damage caused are so high that the investment in the biometric system is definitely worth it. © 2023 International Multidisciplinary Scientific Geoconference. The rising prevalence of electric vehicles (EVs) necessitates advancements in supporting infrastructure, particularly in charging point (CP) management. This paper proposes a solution to determine the maximum power limit for one or more charge points, considering the actual power consumption of the building and charger parameters. The problem formulation highlights the necessity of load balance algorithms due to challenges posed by existing power grid limitations and dynamic consumer demands. The paper reviews existing solutions, introduces a load balance algorithm, presents simulation results, and discusses potential enhancements. The algorithm dynamically adjusts charger power limits based on real-time data, prioritizing efficient charging while ensuring system stability. © 2024 IEEE.

The paper considers the problem of processing messages of limited size. An effective means of ensuring the authenticity and confidentiality of such data is the use of the clipper block chaining encoding mode. It is shown that the organization of intermediate result storage requires the implementation in the memory of the calculator of blocks responsible for the formation of a tree structure containing both messages from the target source and messages from other sources functioning as part of a complex distributed system. To do this the incoming messages are excluded from processing based on the contents of an additional field that stores the encoded sequence number of the message in the chain. This reduces the number of branches in the generated and processed message tree structure. The effect of this is to reduce the cost of RAM of the computer performing decoding and forming message chains from the target source. It is shown how the implementation of the method of processing message authentication codes reduces the number of rows and columns of internal memory that store an element of a tree structure. The analysis of the results of the conducted studies showed that the result of using the processing method is a decrease of the cost of register memory for storing intermediate results by 5-10 times compared with the results of the previous studies. © 2023 IEEE.

In real world applications, classification models can be built by repeatedly going through the steps of data preprocessing, building classification models with different dedicated algorithms, testing the resulted models, until building a good enough classification model is achieved. The model built in this way can be used in order to perform predictions on new data, with a degree of trust resulted by testing the model. All the operations described above can be done with Weka, which is a very powerful machine learning tool. The authors consider that after going through the previous steps, for many real world applications, it would be beneficial to go through a supplementary step, of developing a custom application for data classification, specific to the realized study. The proposed application will use the Weka API, which will allow it to rebuild the selected classification model, save and load it in/from a binary file and then make predictions with the help of a user interface perfectly adapted to the data set used. The proposed application makes it easier to make predictions for a final beneficiary. The paper presents how such a custom classification application can be developed, using the Weka API and Java programming language. In order to validate the proposed solution, the authors have built a custom application for the classification of data of patients who may have heart diseases, starting from the Cleveland heart disease data set, obtained from the UCI Machine Learning Repository. The proposed application allows saving and loading the classification model through serialization and deserialization, so that building it in order to make predictions is necessary only once. © 2023 IEEE.
