The paper presents the synthesis and implementation algorithms of reconfigurable logic controller (RLC) implemented in a FPGA. In opposite to software centric PLCs, the RLC utilize massively parallel hardware execution of control algorithms. The specific hardware implementation significantly reduces the throughput time. The input program is described by the SFC given according to IEC61131-3 standard. An original intermediate representation with use of data flow graph has been developed for program representation and synthesis purposes. The algorithm of creating graph representation maintains sequential dependencies of processing and reveals parallel tasks. Developed method of scheduling and mapping is dedicated for implementation in LUT based FPGA devices. There are considered direct mapping based on greedy approach and optimized methods that are FPGA architecture aware. The paper is concluded with exemplary implementation comparison.

The paper presents an approach to Boolean satisfiability checking. The work is based on fuzzy default logic (FDL) introduced by one of the authors on HIS'09 conference. The starting point of the presented approach is WalkSAT algorithm. Authors discuss heuristic variable flipping techniques that employ commonsense reasoning methodology (FDL) and searching space pruning techniques implemented in the FUDASAT algorithm. The new algorithm called JumpSAT is presented on the examples. The paper shows interesting results of some experiments that shows effectiveness of the new proposed technique in comparison to the FUDASAT approach.

This work studies the leaderless consensus problem in networks composed of non-identical flexible-joint robot manipulators. Using standard functional analysis, i.e., Barbəlat's Lemma, it is established that a simple control law provides a solution to the leaderless consensus problem. The network is modeled as an undirected graph and the interconnection can exhibit variable time-delays. The proposed controller consists of two different terms, one that dynamically compensates the robot gravity and another which ensures the desired consensus objective. This last term is a simple Proportional plus damping scheme. Simulations, using a network with nine 2-degrees of freedom manipulators, are provided to support the theoretical contributions of this work. © IFAC.

In this paper authors will expose a work developed with the aim to submit an educational innovation project proposal to a competitive call for Educational Innovation Projects 2013-2015 of the Education Advisory Service of the Basque Country University (UPV/EHU, Spain). This project is being carried out in the computer Structure and computer Architecture sub-module of the Degree in computer Management and Information Systems Engineering of the University College of Engineering of Vitoria-Gasteiz, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). The project is based on the active learning, more specifically, on cooperative learning. In this paper we have given deeper insight the dependencies between all the subjects belonging to the analyzed sub-module, which is composed of two subjects named computer Structure and computer Architecture. We have included in such analysis a previous subject named Principles of Digital Systems Design, which does not belong to that sub-module, but plays an important role in the acquisition of the knowledge and competencies of the two previously referenced subjects.

Intrusion Detection Systems(IDS) have become a necessary component of almost every security infrastructure. Recently, Support Vector Machines (SVM) has been employed to provide potential solutions for IDS. With its many variants for classification SVM is a state-of-the-art machine learning algorithm. However, the performance of SVM depends on selection of the appropriate parameters. In this paper we propose an IDS model based on Information Gain for feature selection combined with the SVM classifier. The parameters for SVM will be selected by a swarm intelligence algorithm (Particle Swarm Optimization or Artificial Bee Colony). We use the NSL-KDD data set and show that our model can achieve higher detection rate and lower false alarm rate than regular SVM.

Web Spam, or Spamdexing, is a form of Search Engine Optimization(SEO) spamming that hinders the efficiency of search engines. These types of exploits use unethical methods in order to place a web page into the first rank. Sabotaging the quality of the results retrieved by search engines can lead users to mistrust the search engine provider. Moreover, spam websites can be a starting point for phishing or malware attacks. Over the last decade Web Spamming has become an important problem. This paper shows a spam host detection approach that uses swarm intelligence. We test our model on two datasets (WEBSPAM-UK2011 and WEBSPAM-UK2007) and show that it can obtain a good accuracy. Moreover, we compared our approach with other popular classifiers (C4.5, SVM and Logistic Regression ) and empirically demonstrated that it can outperform them in some cases.

The problem of elimination of impulsive disturbances from archive audio signals is considered and its new solution, called predictive matched filtering, is proposed. The new approach is based on the observation that a large percentage of noise pulses corrupting archive audio recordings have highly repetitive shapes that match several typical "patterns", called click templates. To localize noise pulses, click templates can be correlated with the sequence of multi-step-ahead prediction errors yielded by the model-based signal predictor. It is shown that predictive matched filtering is an efficient and computationally affordable disturbance localization technique - when combined with the classical detection method based on autoregressive modeling, it can significantly improve restoration results.

Stand for testing the electrical race car engine

An engine test stand created especially for research of electrical race car is described in the paper. The car is an aim of Silesian Greenpower project whose participants build and test electrical vehicles to take part in international races in Great Britain. The engine test stand is used to test and measure the characteristics of vehicles and their engines. It has been designed particularly to test the electric cars engineered by students of Silesian Greenpower project. The article contains a description how the test stand works and shows its versatility in many areas. The paper presents both construction of the test stand, control system and sample results of conducted research. The engine test stand was designed and modified using PLM Siemens NX 8.5. The construction of the test stand is highly modular, which means it can be used both for testing the vehicle itself or for tests without the vehicle. The test stand has its own wheel, motor, powertrain and braking system with second engine. Such solution enables verifying various concepts without changing the construction of the vehicle. The control system and measurement system are realized by enabling National Instruments product myRIO (RIO - Reconfigurable Input/Output). This controller in combination with powerful LabVIEW environment performs as an advanced tool to control torque and speed simultaneously. It is crucial as far as the test stand is equipped in two motors - the one being tested and the braking one. The feedback loop is realized by an optical encoder cooperating with the rotor mounted on the wheel. The results of tests are shown live on the screen both as a chart and as single values. After performing several tests there is a report generated. The engine test stand is widely used during process of the Silesian Greenpower vehicle design. Its versatility enables powertrain testing, wheels and tires tests, thermal analysis and more.

Models of quantum systems on curved space-times lack sufficient experimental verification. Some speculative theories suggest that quantum properties, such as entanglement, may exhibit entirely different behavior to purely classical systems. By measuring this effect or lack thereof, we can test the hypotheses behind several such models. For instance, as predicted by Ralph and coworkers [T C Ralph, G J Milburn, and T Downes, Phys. Rev. A, 79(2):22121, 2009;T C Ralph and J Pienaar, New Journal of Physics, 16(8):85008, 2014], a bipartite entangled system could decohere if each particle traversed through a different gravitational field gradient. We propose to study this effect in a ground to space uplink scenario. We extend the above theoretical predictions of Ralph and coworkers and discuss the scientific consequences of detecting/failing to detect the predicted gravitational decoherence. We present a detailed mission design of the European Space Agency's (ESA) Space QUEST (Space - Quantum Entanglement Space Test) mission, and study the feasibility of the mission scheme. Data dissemination in opportunistic networks poses a series of challenges, since there is no central entity aware of all the nodes' subscriptions. Each individual node is only aware of its own interests and those of a node that it is contact with, if any. Thus, dissemination is generally performed using epidemic algorithms that flood the network, but they have the disadvantage that the network overhead and congestion are very high. In this paper, we propose ONSIDE, an algorithm that leverages a node's online social connections (i.e. friends on social networks such as Facebook or Google+), its interests and the history of contacts, in order to decrease congestion and required bandwidth, while not affecting the overall network's hit rate and the delivery latency. We present the results of testing our algorithm using an opportunistic network emulator and three mobility traces taken in different environments.
