Self Optimizing Narrowband Interference Canceller (SONIC) is a novel active disturbance rejection algorithm which combines the gain-freezing technique and automatic adjustment of a complex-valued estimation gain. In the paper a new version of the self-adjustment mechanism, based on the extremum-seeking technique, is proposed. To preserve the compactness of the original controller, the adaptation algorithm is designed to operate in complex domain. The resulting adaptive controller is much more robust than its previous variant.

This paper presents a new approach to elimination of impulsive disturbances from archive speech signals. The proposed sparse autoregressive (SAR) signal representation is given in a factorized form - the model is a cascade of the so-called formant filter and pitch filter. Such a technique has been widely used in code-excited linear prediction (CELP) systems, as it guarantees model stability. After detection of noise pulses using linear prediction, the factorized model is converted into a generic sparse form in order to perform a projection-based signal interpolation. It is shown that the proposed algorithm is able to deal favorably with speech signals with strong glottal activity, which is a serious problem for algorithms based on the classical AR modeling.

This paper describes the heuristic technique of analog filters design. After desired frequency response definition for a filter, the evolutionary system searches for adequate connections for its circuit. The circuit is constructed with the use of elementary blocks which contain two elements (resistance and reactance). The final values for all elements of the filter are searched locally by means of Monte Carlo analysis. The proposed solution can be especially suitable to special filters designing, i.e. these ones, for which amplitude responses have not typical shapes.

For the attractor determination, we propose in this paper a new approach based on the definition of a comparison system by special description of the linearized model of the process around an operating state which correspond to a diagonalization or if it is not possible to the description with a matrix on the arrow form, and the use of aggregation techniques. The prediction of software reliability can determine the current reliability of a product, using statistical techniques based on the failures data, obtained during testing or system usability. The major problem in predicting software reliability is their high complexity, as well as the excessive limitations of existing models. Therefore, choosing the appropriate reliability prediction model is essential. The purpose of this article is to study the defect prediction models, using the Rayleigh function. This function forecasts the defect discovery rate as a function of time through the software development process. Starting from an existing static prediction model, we have introduced a new approach, using the time-scale. Also, we have considered two methods for computing the model parameters, and have compared them to the real data set. The results have validated this model as a good estimation of the defect rate behavior. We will also suggest possible directions for extending the paper in the future.

In this paper we consider the problem of finite-interval parameter smoothing for a class of nonstationary linear stochastic systems subject to both smooth and abrupt parameter changes. The proposed parallel estimation scheme combines the estimates yielded by several exponentially weighted basis function algorithms. The resulting smoother automatically adjusts its smoothing bandwidth to the type and rate of nonstationarity of the identified system. It also allows one to account for the distribution of the measurement noise.
