Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks are largely used for file-sharing and hence must provide efficient mechanisms for searching the files stored at various nodes. The existing structured P2P overlays support only "exact-match" look-up which is hardly sufficient in a filesharing network. This paper addresses the problem of keyword-based search in structured P2P networks. We propose a new keyword-based searching algorithm which can be implemented on top of any structured P2P overlay. We demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves very good searching results as it requires the minimum number of messages to be sent in order to find all the references to files containing at least the given set of keywords. © 2010 IEEE.

In this paper, we proposed a genetic algorithm based on behavioral psychology developed by Carl Gustav Jung (16 Personalities model), in which we describe the person's behavioral leisure and ludic behavioral features regarding his personality. The model used for inference is based on 40 years of psychology research and studies from the book 'The 16 Personalities types that determinate how we live, love and work' by Otto Kroger and Janet M. Thuesen, published in 1988. To generate the leisure model, we are using genetic algorithms. To improve the leisure model, we are reinforcing it using weight-based fitness functions with inference extracted from the HappyDB dataset. In this dataset, persons around the world express the most valuable/happy moments in their life. The leisure model describes how they would prefer spending their time and how this will bring the most enjoyment and reward (human reward psychological model). © 2023 IEEE.

Module's overheating assessment with the use of supply current waveform analysis

Design and manufacturing of electronic modules is a difficult process - on the one hand there arises a problem of developing the inner circuitry of best possible performance, on the other hand -building it at the lowest possible price. When it comes to cutting expenses on production, even the smallest changes in materials can critically influence the total manufacturing costs. The paper introduces a method of detecting certain module's overheating levels without a necessity of using temperature sensors - devices generating unnecessary fabrication expenses. The assessment of temperature can be performed with the use of supply current waveform analysis - particular changes in current function caused by overheating may be processed and correlated with a certain temperature. Finding those differences in supply waveforms and classifying them may be done with either analytic methods or heuristic algorithms. © 2018

In this paper, we propose an intelligent scoring system based on genetic algorithms to provide students with exams for their level of study. The system is reactive, adapting the exam to the student's level using genetic algorithms to generate exam questions, but it is also gamified using behavioral psychology to encourage students to get better results in exam. The reward model behind the generation of the exam is based on the behavioral psychology used in modern video games for a greater involvement of the student. © 2021 IEEE.

With the help of state-of-the-art DCNNs precise detection of persons is possible in images and videos acquired from UAVs at low and medium altitudes. The current paper proposes for comparison of two DCNNs: Scaled-YOLOv4 and YOLOv7 trained on a custom dataset through transfer learning with data acquired from UAV. The aim is to take advantage of the capabilities of YOLOv7 to train a lightweight model with good accuracy that can be loaded on embedded systems present onboard UAVs capable of real-time person detection. Through transfer learning, the model achieves detection scores above 90% at altitudes of 30m using YOLOv7 architecture. Experiments were conducted to prove its ability to successfully multiple human detection frame-by-frame with over 70% confidence scores. © 2022 IEEE.

Having solid knowledge of electronics is of major importance for a computer science (CS) student. The means for achieving a good level of understanding, especially of the practical aspects, is an ongoing issue (in the short time frame that is generally allocated for it in a CS program). Due to the applied nature of the subject, the authors consider that a pragmatic practice-based approach is an appropriate solution to complete the technical preparation of the students. Following the general lines of this idea, the authors implemented a series of laboratory works that are designed to ensure that students would get hands-on experience with electronic circuits. The paper will present how these will introduce basic key concepts, bridge the gap between theory and practice and lay down a solid foundation for hardware courses that follow in the CS curriculum. © 2011 IEEE.

Google web applications have become an integral component in the day to day life of both organizations and individuals alike. These may be accessed through the graphical user interface (GUI) or through the application programming interface (API). The latter is primarily used by programmers to integrate such services into their applications. Most of the languages used to implement such applications are designed with performance in mind, often neglecting security. However, security has become a major concern for such systems thus increasing demand for memory safe languages. Unfortunately, languages such as D and Rust, known to be memory safe, are lacking support for Google services. To that end, we develop a methodology of integrating Google services with safe programming languages. We show that the D programming language can easily and successfully integrate such services bringing a boost in security and productivity. © 2021 IEEE.

Since data is becoming more and more unstructured, clustering heterogeneous data is essential to getting structured information in response to user queries. In this paper, we test and validate the results of a new clustering technique - clustering by compression - when applied to metadata associated with heterogeneous sets of documents. The clustering by compression procedure is based on a parameter-free, universal, similarity distance, the normalized compression distance or NCD, computed from the lengths of compressed data files (singly and in pair-wise concatenation). Experimental results show that using metadata could improve the average clusterging performances with about 10% over clustering the same sample data set without using metadata. © 2010 IEEE.

Many plants use a combination of maintenance strategies across their production facilities. Under condition monitoring strategy, a continuous analyze of a combination of machine health parameters is performed, aiming the observation of changing trends. Online condition monitoring systems generally include measure of vibration, thermography, ultrasound, oil analysis or energy parameters. In the case of energy analysis, an abnormal behaviour of the manufacturing units generates deviations from the reference models by altering the energy consumption footprint. In this paper an approach based on fractal analysis of energy consumption datasets is evaluated on a real testbed assembly line. By computing the Hurst exponent for each data subset which corresponds to different assembly operations, for several manufacturing cycles, it was found that it is possible to perform an energy consumption pattern matching for each operation. © 2021 IEEE.
