This paper mainly discusses two kinds of coupled reaction-diffusion neural networks (CRNN) under topology attacks, that is, the cases with multistate couplings and with multiple spatial-diffusion couplings. On one hand, by adopting state feedback control scheme, the problem of the lag synchronization for the multistate coupled CRNN is addressed. Moreover, the influences of external disturbances for the lag synchronization of the CRNN with multistate couplings are also taken into consideration. On the other hand, several lag and lag H∞ synchronization conditions for CRNN with multiple spatial-diffusion couplings are derived under the help of the Kronecker product and the state feedback control method. Finally, two numerical examples are provided to verify the correctness of the derived criteria. © 2014 IEEE.

MoS2 has elicited notable interest as a promising material for gas sensing applications. The pristine MoS2 is still encumbered by drawbacks such as low response, large response time, and a propensity for weak adsorption of target gases, which can impede its effectiveness in practical applications. To address these challenges, this study investigates the functionalization of nitrogen-doped MoS2 with silver nanoparticles to improve its sensing performance for NO2 gas. MoS2 nanosheets were synthesized through chemical vapor deposition and subsequently subjected to nitrogen plasma treatment to facilitate doping. We evaluated the gas sensing performance of pristine MoS2, Ag-decorated MoS2, nitrogen-doped MoS2, and Ag-decorated nitrogen-doped MoS2 (Ag-N-MoS2) specifically for NO2 gas sensing. The Ag-N-MoS2 configuration demonstrated a response that was nearly double that of pristine MoS2 at 100 °C, demonstrating the benefits of this dual enhancement strategy. Additionally, selectivity tests revealed the sensor's capacity to distinguish NO2 from other gases. To reinforce our experimental results, density functional theory (DFT) calculations were conducted, confirming the improved electronic properties achieved through nitrogen doping and Ag NP functionalization. This research underscores the potential of Ag-N-MoS2 as a formidable platform for sophisticated gas sensors, addressing crucial environmental monitoring requirements while surmounting the intrinsic limitations of pristine MoS2. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Direct metabolic activity measurement for unstable bioprocess experiment control

Paper deals with an algorithm which allows the automatic selection of the best operating point of biological system. This task is one of the subjects of research in the field of metabolic engineering, which deals with control related issues, in particular, with modelling of biological phenomena, as well as, monitoring of the unstable states of biomass growth. The possibility of using specific biosensors and microfluidic system for monitoring, optimizing and controlling of a bioreactor is presented in this paper. To ensure proper experiment control of the bioreactor, a real-time measurement of parameters at the macroscale level and metabolic activity of microorganism cells at the microscale level are relevant. Therefore, much attention has been paid to the description and modelling of cyclical changes in metabolic states. For the determination of key process parameters, a microcalorimeter for measuring the heat of reaction has been applied. The biosensor provides additional information, which is useful in development of an interface for monitoring the bioreactor by a decomposition of measurements including the scale of process. Finally, the paper discusses the problem of model selection describing the bioprocess at the microscale level. © 2015 WIT Press.

The paper presents concept of virtual resources (VR) which improve multilevel, remote Internet-based operation of real-time controlled industrial processes. In comparison to classical directly connected-to-plant operations, the VR-based system introduces all typical features of its flexible nature, hiding the unnecessary implementation details from the process operators. The user-suited, human-computer interfaces (HCI) improve cooperation between specialists who must carry out operating control of the process. Realisation of such a system is based on the concept of maximal usage of particular specialist's skills improving theirs cooperation. Although the proposed concept is dedicated to remote operating experimentation on real-time controlled industrial plants, it has also a more general aspect. As a case example, the cooperative operating control of a biotechnological pilot-plant is presented.

Electrocardiography (ECG) is vital for diagnosing and monitoring cardiovascular diseases. automatic interpretation of ECG signals, particularly classifying heartbeats, is essential in diagnosing these conditions. We compared the performance of three classifiers (K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), Random Forests (RF), and Support Vector Machine (SVM)) using heartbeat and ECG signal features. We trained the classifiers on 173 heartbeats from 11 recordings in the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia (MITDB) Database. To address imbalance, we used SMOTE (Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique) to increase the number of abnormal heartbeats. We divided the data into 70% for training set and 30% for testing set, evaluating performance through 10-fold cross-validation. Results demonstrated state-of-the-art performance for KNN, RF, and SVM. KNN achieved an overall accuracy, positive predictive value, and sensitivity of 0.977, 0.978, and 0.978, respectively. RF achieved an overall accuracy, precision, and sensitivity of 0.971, 0.972, and 0.971, respectively. SVM achieved a recall of 0.988, 0.989, and 0.988. SVM exhibited the highest overall performance in heartbeat classification (0.99), followed by KNN (0.98) and RF (0.97). © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In this paper we present novel algorithmic solutions for several resource processing and data transfer multicriteria optimization problems. The results of most of the presented techniques are strategies which solve the considered problems (almost) optimally. Thus, the developed algorithms construct intelligent strategies which can be implemented by agents in specific situations. All the described solutions make use of the properties of the considered problems and, thus, they are not applicable to a very general class of problems. However, by considering the specific details of each problem, we were able to obtain very efficient results. © 2010 SCPE.

Spot defect analysis to identify the functional parameters of a Voltage controlled Oscillator

This work presents method of identification of the functional parameters of a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) using artificial neural network (ANN). The VCO under test is excited with a selected stimuli and the ANN is trained by the VCO response in time-domain. Investigated VCO is a mixed-signal circuit, therefore spread of circuit parameters (tolerance) is modelled by Monte-Carlo analysis. Existence of a circuit failures, modelled as spot defects, is also taken into consideration. Additionally, a genetic algorithm (GA) is used to minimize number of circuit response samples. The goal is shortening of data acquisition and processing time during circuit testing, as having significant influence on final manufacturing cost. The proposed method enables shortening test time of the VCO, together with high efficiency of functional parameters identification. © 2018

Tumor cellularity (TC) in lung adenocarcinoma slides submitted for molecular testing is important in identifying actionable mutations, but lack of best practice guidelines results in high interobserver variability in TC assessments. An artificial intelligence (AI)–based pipeline developed to assess TC in hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) whole slide images (WSIs) and in tumor areas (TAs) within WSIs includes a new model (CaBeSt-Net) trained to mask cancer cells, benign epithelial cells, stroma in H&E WSIs using immunohistochemistry-restained slides, and a model to detect all cell nuclei. High masking accuracy (>91%) by CaBeSt-Net computed using 1024 H&E regions of interest and intraclass correlation coefficient >0.97 assessing TC assessments reliability by one pathologist and AI in 20 test regions of interest supported the pipeline's applicability to TC assessment in 50 study H&E WSIs. Using the pipeline, TCs assessed in TAs and WSIs were compared with those by three pathologists. Reliabilities of these ratings by the pathologists supported by the pipeline were good (intraclass correlation coefficient >0.82, P < 0.0001). The consistency of sample categorizations as inadequate or adequate (TC ≤ 20% cut point) for molecular testing among the pathologists assessing TCs without AI support was moderate in TAs (κ = 0.410, P < 0.0001) and slight in WSIs (κ = 0.132, nonsignificant). With AI support, the consistency was substantial in both WSIs (κ = 0.602, P < 0.0001) and TAs (κ = 0.704, P < 0.0001). By visualizing cancer and measuring TC in the sample, this novel AI-based pipeline assists pathologists in selecting samples for molecular testing. © 2025 American Society for Investigative Pathology

On the feasibility of constrained generalized predictive control

This paper analyzes the generalized predictive control law under constraints on the input, output or other auxiliary signals that depend linearly on the system variables. These constraints are formulated as sets of linear equalities or inequalities;the control sequence is therefore elaborated based on parametric optimization problem. The feasibility issues are related on one hand to the wellposedness condition and on the other hand to the compatibility with the set-point constraints. The prediction of the feasibility is of great interest from this point of view and necessary feasibility conditions are presented.

Architecure of the linux watchdog software for the IP PBX

The architecture proposals of a Watchdog software for the IP PBX monitoring are designed in this paper. IP PBX contains two main applications which interact between them: Common Media Server and IpSmallOffice. Common Media Server provides VoIP codec capabilities, and IpSmallOffice is the main application running on a Linux PC, controls the phone calls and provides IP telephony switching. The Watchdog is a stand-alone application and it needs a configuration file to read the data about the processes it monitors. Moreover, this application will be demonized and is added to start at system startup.
