The state of network paths is of great importance for the quality and reliability of the transmission of information coming from the IoT devices. Changing network conditions cause the state of a single path to be highly unpredictable, especially when large-scale IoT networks, connecting thousands of specialized devices, are in use. The solution to this problem is to perform trials in a real environment, with the use of real hardware. The rationalization of the design, the implementation and the exploitation of the process will be the main benefit of this approach. In this demonstration, a testbed infrastructure for the estimation of the state of path parameters in wired and wireless networks is presented. The estimation is based mainly on active measurements performed with the use of the Probing Packet Trains method. The key elements of the testbed infrastructure are locally and remotely controlled energy-efficient single-board computers, working under the control of the Linux operating system, which are equipped with software able to track (in manual or automatic mode) changing conditions of a given transmission path.

The article introduces the Cyber4OT dataset containing network traces concerning normal and simulated attacker-hostile activity in an Industrial control System (ICS) environment. As many as 96 traces contain over 4.25 million packets and have over 385 MB capacity. The simulated attacks have been performed on a dedicated laboratory testbed. The testbed mimics industrial plants’ Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure. The testbed deliberately uses continuous and binary control processes of fast and slow dynamics. Industrial Programmable Logic controllers (PLCs) are used to control the processes. A dedicated industrial network provides the communication between the ICS equipment, Supervisory control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and Human Machine Interface (HMI) panels. The communication is configured to test multiple communication protocols, including the standard industrial Modbus protocol. The entire industrial infrastructure is connected to an external office network. Since the infrastructure and its components are typical of industrial solutions, the described dataset collected using such a realistic testbed could be beneficial for a broad scope of researchers to evaluate the vulnerability of ICSs to cyber attacks using classical and artificial intelligence methods.

The article presents an example of deep learning methods application for language modelling in Polish. Language modelling helps to predict a sequence of recognized words or characters, and it can be used for improving speech processing and speech recognition. However, currently the field of language modelling is shifting from statistical language modelling methods to neural networks and deep learning methods. There are still many difficult problems to solve in natural language modelling. Nevertheless, deep learning methods achieve the most modern results for some specific language modelling problems. In this paper are presented the most interesting natural language modelling tasks, such as word-based and character-based language modelling, in which deep learning methods achieve some progress. New research results presented in this paper, in reference to previous articles, are focused on how to develop a character-based language model using a recurrent neural network and deep machine learning techniques. The use of both language modelling methods at the same time allow to develop hybrid language models that are characterized by even better properties and can greatly improve speech recognition. The presented results relate to the modelling of the Polish language but the achieved research results and conclusions can also be applied to language modelling application for other languages.

In the context of SaaS (Software as a Service) where software has to be up and running 7 days a week and 24 hours a day, keeping the requirements specification and related test cases up to date can be difficult. Managing requirements in this context has additional challenges that need to be taken into account, for instance, re-prioritize requirements continuously and identify/update new dependencies among them. When requirements change, related test cases need to be updated accordingly. We claim that extracting and analyzing the usage of the SaaS can help to maintain requirements and test cases updated and contribute to improve the overall quality of the services provided. This paper presents an extension to REQAnalytics. REQAnalytics is a recommendation system that collects information about the usage of a SaaS and generates recommendations to improve the SaaS provided. The evolution involves extending the analysis performed over the sequences of functionalities (requirements) and refining the data provided for Software Requirements Specification, with the purpose of helping the requirements engineers in the requirement maintenance activities, and to improve the overall quality of the services. Furthermore, the extension presented in this paper is able to generate test cases in a regression testing context.

This paper presents a study for optimizing a hot rolling mill. The paper is devoted to the study of ways to reduce the effect of shock loads of synchronous electric drives of the roughing mill group on the relative lengthening of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap of the rolling stands of the finishing mill group. The elasticity of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap of the rolling mill has a significant impact on the movement of intercoupled multi-motor electric drives of the finishing mill group. Another crucial route of exposure that influences the motion of the electric drives within the finishing mill group involves the electromagnetic connection between the drives in the roughing and finishing mill groups. The impact of the electromagnetically connected circuits is evident through the effect of shock loads from synchronous electric drives on the angular velocity of the direct current electric drives within the finishing mill group. The characteristics of the electromagnetic communication circuit are established by the power grid arrangement and equipment specifications. To assess the quality of work of electric drives of the finishing mill group, it is proposed to use the relative lengthening of the metal strip in the inter-stand gap, which is an important indirect indicator of the quality of rolling. The mathematical model of a hot rolling mill that takes into account both the elasticity of the metal strip that connects the DC electric drives of the finishing group, and the electromagnetic coupling circuit that takes into account the impact loads of synchronous electric drives of the roughing group on the example of the mill 1700 of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC was proposed in this paper.
